The modders are famous! Go check out....
There is a major article on SEIV at www.cdmag.com
It is all about modding and the SEIV universe - go check it out! Jason2 |
Re: The modders are famous! Go check out....
This article is AWESOME! Besides being a kudo for the mod community, it has some really detailed information about how to make a mod.
Anybody that's new and is thinking of making a mod should definatly read this article. Scroll down teh left side and look for "Space Empires IV - Modifying the universe in a day" Geo ------------------ Join the Space Empires IV Multi-Player Head to Head elimination Tournament Today!!! http://www.geocities.com/dayton_drag...OURNAMENT.html |

A very deep and detailed article!
Well done Tampa!! |
Re: The modders are famous! Go check out....
Wow! Great article! I wish I'd had some of that info when I started modding things -- would've made fewer mistakes =) Ah well. My mod even got mentioned, amazingly =)

Hot damned! My site is actually mentioned! Man that brings a smile to my face. Gotta love those guys at Computer Games Online. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
Chris Traber did an excellent job writing that article. A most informative read. Too bad my site went down and my addressed changed. I wonder how I could go about letting him know? Any whoo, all the ship sets that I had at the UCP site are in the mod section here for download until I can get my FTP server thingy working at my new site. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif Again, a great atricle. Thanks for bring it to our attention. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif Just made a new Favorites linking directly to www.CDmag.com <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Chris Traber would like to extend special thanks to Aaron Hall, Richard Arnesen, Mephisto and Daynarr for their technical assistance with this article, and to the rest of the Shrapnel Games discussion forum for their assistance over the past six months. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Way to go guys. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon10.gif [This message has been edited by Atrocities (edited 02 May 2001).] |

I'm famous!
Heh. I haven't done anything on Derek's Mod (aka Davesmodsv11) in quite a long time, as life has interfered. Also, quite frankly, at this point, the DevNull Mod has incorporated and improved many of the things I did, and I really feel like anything I did would just be copying his. It is nice to know, however, that I still get mentioned in the review on cdmag. Derek |

The article was written prior to the SE4 multiple download sections, so a lot of links had to be removed at the Last moment (I had originally included links to every mod). I also included about 2-3 more pics that did make it into the final edit by cdmag due to size restrictions. Oh well. The main thing I wanted was to provide a road map for mod makers/Users to understand file conflicts and the potential of custom mods. I am happy that all of the tables made it in and if people find it useful, that is reward enough. [This message has been edited by Tampa_Gamer (edited 02 May 2001).] |

On a similar note...
<plug> I have reviewed SEIV and this forum on www.ciao.com, on the UK part of their service. Just put in a search for opinions by dogscoff and you can earn me £0.02 per read *kerching* $-) (On ciao your opinions really *are* £0.02 worth=-) </plug> ------------------ "Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?" Re: The modders are famous! Go check out....
Are you kidding, Dave? I haven't played with Devnullicus' mod yet, but the original ideas you playtested with and put forth are still in the game mod I regularly play with. Great stuff, and I'll have to check out Devnull's Version.
Looking forward to seeing anything else you might come up with once Real Life unasserts itself. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif zen |

Dogscoff
The roleplayers can be a little over the top eh? My fleet will reduce your homeworld to ashes for that comment, so there!!!! less partisan review than most. Nice one plugging SE3 as well..... you're not on commission from MM are you? |
Re: The modders are famous! Go check out....
Hehe -thanks for the read. Wrote my original SEIV review way back in November when I'd only met SEIII a month or so previously. I was pretty freaked out by some of the RP sites but it all seems so normal now.
I guess that proves that the Urban Pacification Centre they built Last week is already starting to reduce my badthink=-) Citizen Dogscoff ------------------ "Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?" "Uh, I think so, Brain, but balancing a family and a career ... oooh, it's all too much for me. " |
