\"Operation flashpoint\" Everon scenario incomming

I will soon release a big scenario freely adapted from "Operation Flashpoint", the game of Bohemia Interractive. It will take place on an Island an oppose URSS and USA in 1985... Some UN, Marines, UK and other units will be present.
It will be a very long game in terms of games turn and of scale...

Me as well; I've been playing Operation Flashpoint GOTY edition with the FFUR Woodland mod, and it's a really awesome game.

Uhm he did say:

It will be a very long game in terms of games turn and of scale...

That means a lot of testing.

He also said "i will soon release".

May I volunteer for testing?

Re: \"Operation flashpoint\" Everon scenario incommi

First, I am really sorry for responding so late...
I was too much optimistic when saying that the scenario 'will soon be released' : it should have benn a 'beta' version of it 'will soon be released', because it's very long to test. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/Sick.gif

Let me explain a bit more what I have in sight:
- this scenario will cover all the events descripted in flashpoint, from Red Hammer to 'The operation flashpoint'. The map is the whole Everon Island, even if a bit 'compressed' (I have done it already it's a 200*160 hexes map, but it is not enough to really have the 'real' everon, but with this size the result is not so bad...)
- in terms of game length I decided to do a 90 turns scenario...
this should go that way:
> the russian invasion during 10 turns
> the first US serious reply beginning on turn 10
> then, every 10 or 20 turns reinforcement are delivered to both players..
my aim is to keep a 90 turn game interesting because of the reinforcement and the question of supplies (which with 30 turn is never a problem)

-So, the forces should be like that first 'order of battle':
URSS:
Invasion task force:
- 1 airmobile company
- 1 mecanised co
- 1 motorised co
- supports
On turn 5:
- lots of patrols units
On turn 15:
- 1 armored co
- 1 infantry co (no transports)
On turn 30:
- 1 inf co
On turn 50:
- 1 arm co
On turn 70:
- 1 inf co
add to that a lot of spec forces and supports... And an 'alert' para co
US:
On map:
-Some UN and spec forces units, a group of civilian (ambassador...)
-the Everon's Republic Army (40 mens) and police...
-Army observer : 1 marines platoon
On turn 2 or 3:
- airmobile marines platoon
On turn 10:
-1 para co
-1 inf co
On turn 15:
- 1 marines co (- 1 platoon)
On turn 20:
-1 arm co
-1 meca co
On turn 30:
-1 motorised co
On turn 40:
-1 arm co
during the game: a lot of supports more and at least the valor of one company in partisan units...

My biggest problem is the testing because if the reinforcement are not good the game can be very unbalanced..

So when I will be ready for a 'first not so bad' version, I will be very happy if there is some people ready for testing...

In SPCAMO game turns, that means the US responds to the Russian invasion massively in 30 minutes, assuming 3~ minutes for both turns (1.5 minutes for your turn, 1.5 minutes for the other side's turn); which is a bit unrealistic. Perhaps it could be re-worked into a campaign game?

True, but the fact is that on turn 10 the russian player should have taken control of the island, so there is no reason to wait: the russian position are the same than would be after 10 days... and so on with the reinforcement later in the game: if I manage to balance it well, it will be a 'three 30 turn scenario in 90 turns'
In fact, I first wanted to do a campain but it I think it's better to let the player keep his objectives and losses along the game, so this is for me the only solution, but if somebody wants to do a campain and hasn't time enough to create the map, I can give it.

Hi,

Even in a 90-turn scenario the maximum entry turn for reinforcements is turn 50, while the maximum turn for airdrop is turn 42.

cheers,
Pyros

Thanks, I didn't understand why it wasn't possible... It will be very hard to make it work, but I have still some hope...

Re: \"Operation flashpoint\" Everon scenario incommi

Personally, I would suggest making it a campaign focussed on the actions of one unit.

I'm reworking it but it wont be ready since long...
