Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
A little underwhelming .

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
Truly. I guess they're focusing on Dom3's development?

You know what they say..
This is Internet. You can find anything. If you do a search and dont find it, or dont like it, then you found a need. Fill it! This is Internet |

Some new screenies might be nice though and not that hard to do http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
If I was the Illwinter duo, I'd hire someone to re-make the whole site from scratch. With some nice graphics, formatting and so on. Only downside is that might lead to even more players, so it might be a bad idea;).

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
Why would a 2-man company want to hire someone to do their webpages? Especially since Shrapnel does most of the PR work. In fact, I dont think any developers personal pages are much better.

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
Hehe. I think that the devs never cared about the look of the Iw site. I know the IW site for years now, but its the same still. If its good for the devs, its good for me, I wont complain. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
PS. It would take like 2-5 hours for a professional website builder to make a decent site. [html/php/flash] Maybe a bit more, if we talk about "high tech" sites. |
Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
It's times like these where I'm tempted to boldly jump into web design with both feet, creating a dazzling portfolio out of projects I would do for indie companies for only nominal cost. Then, I realize that I'm lazy.

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
So far we are all being pretty cool but Ive come close to mentioning that I HAVE seen some of my favorite wait-for projects get blown completely away by impatient and rude fans. Ive known developers who completely dropped the project.
Like I said, so far as are all being pretty cool about it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |

Back on topic, isn't Illwinter paying Shrapnel to have a pretty website? I've actually had quite a few problems these past few weeks at work trying to find supplier contacts because companies that don't even sell to the public directly had websites with more pretty than useful bits. I even broke down and called corporate HQ for a supplier to ask for the right contact number once. |

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
That article was only cited as a piece of evidence. In general, that is what it is considered. That understanding comes from a general knowledge of film. You could find many more sources which support this view. It does not mean that the whole thing is based on one article.
Brothers K is considered Doestoevskii's best novel. I could cite a source for that, but that would not mean that is the only person who thinks so. But in a general understanding of literature, that is the prevailing view. In any case, it is not important. |

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
Yeah - instead now, "Dumb and Dumberer", "Hostel", and "Freddie Got Fingered" are considered classics. *snicker*
More seriously - some movies and books were/are considered classics but really have to be taken in terms of the social context when they were made. Looking at them decades later, they lack the impact they once had - for example, Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye" was considered shocking and scandalous when published; similarly, "To Kill a Mockingbird" was amazing because at the time, the concepts in the book were unheard of (a well-to-do white lawyer defending a poor black accused of rape, just because it was the right thing to do? Inconceivable!!!). That said, some of those classics hold up better over time than others, both movies and books. Look at old SF movies : many of them wind up seeming dated, because their utopian or distopian vision of the future is ridiculous now that our present day is that movie's future. Or, their special effects seem lame compared to today's CGI wizardry. Still - Ray Harryhausen's stop motion dinosaurs and monsters were amazing in their day. And then there are the SF classics that still hold up over time, "BladeRunner" being a perfect example, where "Star Wars" can now be viewed as a simplistic western in outer space. |

P.S. It was October the 2nd in the case you forgot. |

Re: Dominions 3 Page at Illwinter!
small update... Dominions 3 page at Illwinter has not changed. Perhaps they should have one of the fans of Dominions_3 update the page for the price of a copy or two of Dominions_3?? I'm sure some fans would even do the task for free. |
