Weekly previews of DomIII, maybe?

I was wondering if it would be possible for someone on the team to post a small preview once a week that highlights one of the new races and a pretender. Just a small weekly post that gives some background info and maybe a few details. This would be be really cool to have while we wait for the game to be shipped. I can understand if it's just too much to ask, though -- I'm just throwin it out there.

Agreed, it'd be great to have little teasers like this if it's not too much of a bother.

Looks like the AARs are doing a decent job with this.

A R'lyeh AAR would be sweet. Anyone willing to do it?

Oh man, a Dreamlands R'lyeh AAR would make me go bananas. For the love of all things holy and/or unholy, someone please do it!

Either of those options would be great! Maybe the best would be for a beta tester to get permision to do the previews, after all, we don't want Dom3 delayed by something as mundane as overworked devs. Or anything else. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif Still, the AARs are great.

Well I dont think you can call this a real review but I love it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I will try to mention some new stuff....

There is a tutorial (player written) and a manual (player written). I have always said you cant get better than that.

Another thing that I greatly appreciate is the slots. In Dom2 if someone wanted to create a nation they had to overwrite ne. Since I tend to play lesser-liked nations it was often my favorites that a mod chose to replace. With Dom3 there are "empty" slots for modders to fill.

I dont really mod much but I understand that the new copystats and copysprites commands are a going to be big with the modders.

If you know my Dom2minions.com site then you know that I loved random maps. The fact that Dom3 generates random maps is fantastic. They are Kristoffer quality which are much better than the random maps I created for Dom2. I expect to see many more player scenarios now that anyone can get random maps to improve on.

Another big thing with maps is the network support. If I host a game and you dont have the map, the game will send it to you when you first connect. That can be done with player created maps, or with a random map that was created specifically for that game. Way easier to get into a game now.

You can queue up 100 units in a province. And you can shift-click to add 10 units to queue.

I like that the game menu is not as confusing to new people. If you start a game it takes you into god-creation with a button to load a premade one if you have it. Otherwise you can just continue making one for that game.

Oh yeah, and Flying Monkees.

Do they enslave enemy troops by playing their greatest hits?

We're not yet sure of their means quite yet, but they try to subdue your commanders, yes. If they succeed, he leaves with them. And while THEY can't enslave, their master MIGHT. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Who's that, then? A record company executive? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Ahhh "Flying Monkees" alternative electronic music.

Sorry, its a spell. It snatches a commander from another province. All us old folks are giggling at it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Heh, yeah, it's a nice idea. You should also have a magical site called "Emerald City" and a magic item called "Silver Slippers" that grants increased magic resistance and the Ritual of Returning. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

But on to more important matters! We need a Dreamlands R'lyeh AAR ASAP! Anyone willing to step up?
