OS X Patch Problems Hello everyone. I picked up Dom2 awhile ago, played it with no problems on my PC. But, I just recently tried to instal it on my PowerBook G4. No problems with that, but I cannot get the 2.16 patch to work. My instal is 2.02, so it should work. Any suggestions? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif |

Re: OS X Patch Problems I had the same problem, updating from 2.14 |

Re: OS X Patch Problems First make sure your old dominions2 application is not write protected (it is after copying from the CD). |

Re: OS X Patch Problems Yeah. You have to change the persmissions. Do a ctrl-I for info and then modify the permissions to that you can read and right the Dominions file. |

Re: OS X Patch Problems Oh... by the way, on a Mac, in window mode, I found that the game's vertical mouse placement was reversed. When the mouse cursor was near the bottom of the screen, things near the top would get selected/highlighted (if you could get it just right) and vice versa. So, it was impossible to play in window mode. Hopefully, that will not be the case with Dom3. Dom 2 works fine in full screen mode. |

Re: OS X Patch Problems Pasha, I think that's fixed if you download a newer version of SDL... |

Re: OS X Patch Problems doc folder in Dominions II main folder contains a helpful file called command_line_switches.txt . This was also posted on various troubleshooting threads. A list of all available command line switches in Dominions II, ver 2.14 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ******* Video Options ******* --badmouse Inverts y-coords in windowed mode. Cures SDL bug on Mac OS X As you can see, workaround was added at some point. |

Re: OS X Patch Problems Hey Thanks! I know nothing about SDL, but I was able to find the latest version, and it worked. How does one use those command line switches? Are they somehow entered in Terminal? Pasha |

Re: OS X Patch Problems So why do you need the switches when upgrading SDL worked for you? |

Re: OS X Patch Problems Pasha may be a lawyer, but he thinks like a scientist... He doesn't need a reason! Yes, entered in Terminal. Might look something like this: cd ~/Desktop/Dominions2/dominions2.app/Contents/Resources/ ../MacOS/dominions2 -r 1920 1200 You need to start the game from dominions2.app/Contents/Resources/ or else nagot gick fel. But the game app is in dominions2.app/Contents/MacOS/ so that's why you need the first line and the ../MacOS/ in the second line... Incidentally, the above (on one line separated by a semicolon) inside double quotes and preceded by "do shell script" (not in quotes) makes a dandy AppleScript that you can use instead of the .app if you want to play at high resolution... |

Re: OS X Patch Problems Yah... I was just curious about the switches and whether they would be useful to me. Ultimately, I am too unfamiliar with the Unix stuff and apple scripts. Thanks for the explanation, however. |
