Question about Regeneration in Dom3

Greetings.

Just got my game today, and I am having a blast playing it. Great job Illwinter! So far it looks as if a good game become even better.

I have a question though - was regeneration changed comparable to how it worked in Dom2? It used to be that unit with regeneration was only 10% as likely to get battle affliction as a non-regenerating one. But I could not find any mentioning of it in game's manual.

Any info?

Thanks a lot!

The chance for Regeneration to avoid an affliction was toned down. I don't remember how much it is though.

Thank you Nerflix, that's good to know. I wonder by how much it was reduced though. Was it little reduction or big nerf? (I hope not http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ) Also does ammount of regeneration (+5%, +10%, etc) matters for the chance of avoiding affection?

So does anybody knows the formula for the chance of affliction on regenerating unit? It's important for my nation strategy. Any additional info will be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

P.S. Oh, and another question - does Water9 bless effect "quickness" doubles number of melee/ranged attacks? I can't remember from the top of my head if it was 100% increase or 50% increase in Dom2.

I think the Quickness doubles number of attacks, but I am not sure. I know it no longer allows two spells per turn.

And I don't know about regeneration. =/

Nobody knows the answer? It's a pity, IMHO it can be quite important for some nations thugs and SCs.

If this is the case, perhaps the developers would be so kind to share a tiny bit of their ultimate wisdom? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif That would be greatly appreciated.

I think the quickness is 50%, afaik the reenration % isnt related to afflictions (could be wrong) but I, like you and nerfix, dont know the chance of avoiding afflictions.

Re: Question about Regeneration in Dom3

Just got my first regenerating creature. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The in-game help does say that regeneration still reduces the chance of affliction. But I still would be very interested in knowing how much it was changed from 10% chance in Dom.

Also question about W9 bless. If it is indeed 50% more attacks, and not 100% more as in "quickness" spell, is is applied to missile attacks as well, or only to melee attacks? And how exactly it works - 2 attack on 1st round, 1 attack on 2nd, et cetera?

Thanks!

It says it's 1/8 of the chance you'd have without regeneration in the tips you see during hosting.

50% quickness means a 50% chance of getting 2 attacks so you could go through a 50 turn battle with 100 w9 blessed troops and not get any double attacks (although this is almost impossible) or you could do the opposite and have all your blessed units get 2 attacks every turn.

Actually, anything even resembling those would be a bug. If you had just one sacred commander, and the battle was over in ten rounds and all the enemies had retreated on turn 12, the 50% chance would have to happen 12 times (once every round of battle), which would be:

0,5*0,5*0,5*0,5*0,5*0,5*0,5*0,5*0,5*0,5*0,5*0,5 = (0,5) ^12 = 0.00024 or 0.2 %. Adding even one more sacred unit would increase this by huge amount. Exponentially? There's a big big scientific word for it any way.

Re: Question about Regeneration in Dom3

I see, thank you guys.

BTW what would happen if you apply boots of quickness(or spell quickness)on top of W9 bless? Will you get just standart 2 attacks per round (from item or spell, so W9 belssing would not be effective), or will you get more than 2 attacks? (I used to know it, but I forgot. Haven't played Dom2 for a while)

Also does quickness (spell or W9 bless) in Dom3 give your more missile attacks as well, or it only works for melee?

Re: Question about Regeneration in Dom3

Works on all attacks and allows you to fire crossbows every round.

You mean quickness spell/item allows your fire crossbow every round, not W9 bless, correct?

So what how W9 + qucikness spell work? Is is still just 2 attacks per round or 3?

Re: Question about Regeneration in Dom3

I experimented with water 9 blessing and Demons of heavanly Fires in Dom2. I could never get them to shoot twice a round, but I think Valandil has gotten it to work. Moral of the story: Don't count on it, but it might work. In other words: I havn't a clue.
