GUI Mod package available for download here.
While waiting for the game to arrive I have been tooling around with the Demo GUI for fun, using my limited graphics knowledge, and come up with the following today.

Thanks for the responses. As soon as these have been tested in game rather than just the demo I'll put them up somewhere - can anyone recommend a host?
I knocked up three more last night. They are all pretty basic but they do add flavour. Two problems Gandalf:
1) The backgrounds are repeated 512*512 tiles according to screensize, so you would end up with the keypresses repeating at odd places all over the screen. 2) This is a complete neophyte doing these with his photo editing software. 99% of requests would be beyond my capacity. Hopefully these will give proper graphic artists some ideas though. |

I could make some decent backgrounds, but not now, I am extremely busy designing our TC mod, and playing MP games when I have a little freetime. Anyways your backgrounds are not that bad at all OP.

Ok here's my last two completed tonite. That's my lot for now, but I'll probably tinker around some more when the game arrives.
Bloodred: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...r/Bloodred.jpg Green: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...cker/Green.jpg They look great at 1280*1024, but on my monitor the font quality deteriorates at lesser resolutions (as does the font on the default game GUI), so 1280*1024 is recommended, although they work at all resolutions. PDF I'm zipping and emailing these to you in the next 24hrs. |

Try the attachment above the Yes! post. It's 8.5 meg and contains 12 new GUIs so I hope it doesn't break the thread.
Remember to to backup the four original .tga files as suggested in the readme. Also remember that these are recommended for 1280*1024, and that they haven't been tested above that yet. PDF - I just tried to email these to you but my server didn't like the large attached file, so I figure this might be the best way to get them to you. The final mods have all had various tweaks, particularly gamma adjustments, over the first screens posted in here. Two in particular have been reworked. You are welcome, I'm using the bamboo right now as TC. Although I haven't used the Ash in game yet, from my testing I noticed that the unit graphics look great on that dull grey background.

Well I was playing around with early Arco today and couldn't resist a new light blue marble mod for them.

They are available in version 1.1 of the GUI Mod package which I uploaded into the earlier post today. |

Ok I fooled around some more and as I was never entirely happy with that Heat version I trashed it and split it into Desert and Lava.

Nerfix - I hear you. I had a go at it last nite but my photo program really doesn't like trying to change the default marble into black and purple. I gave up in frustration, perhaps I can figure it later. I'm also stymied with a green/brown mod for Pangea at the moment. In fact this will be the last update for a while, but I bet I'll return to them again quite soon... |

I would love green and brown for Pangaea. But Id allow for a more golden brown as a lighter brown for backgrounds. Light green looks too C'tiish. That way the darker brown can be trim. A nice green vines background screen would be great
Yes I know Im hoplessly Pangaea addicted. Oh keep in mind that Oceania would be Pangaea with blue instead of brown, and seaweed for a backdrop? |

Hmmmm if someone decides to macrograb the entire sprite set from Dom3, what color option would make the best sprites? white? black? magenta?
