SE5: WP transit order and mine deploying?

I'd like to know how to do 2 things.

Is there any way to rearrange the order of my ships when they go though a warp point. It shows the order they go through in a fleet but I can't figure out how to rearrange it, if possible.

How can I deploy mines? 1. There doesn't appear to be a way to repeat orders to lay mines each turn and 2. Even though I fitted out my mine laying ship with multiple minelayers it won't deploy more than 2 a turn. It says each allows 2.5 mines a minute during combat, but I doubt this applies to deploying them over a whole month (turn)

I saw pretty weird behavior with mines myself. I'm not remembering the exact numbers but it went something like this.... I built a mine laying ship with something like 12 mine laying components and a bunch of cargo, and loaded it up with a lot more mines than 12. I used the remote launch order. It launched something less than the number of launchers on the ship, and would not take further launch orders that turn. Repeating on subsequent turns, it would launch far fewer than the first time. The first time was something in the 8-11 range, with the subsequent turns in the 2-4 range. The mines launched on subsequent turns did go into the same group as the first, though.

You can. You want the command "Set Warp Transit orders", under "settings orders", default hotkey shift-,

EDIT: little note on that- you'll notice the same as previous button. You CAN send all your ships through at once- but they might collide inside the warp point and explode. By default there's a 10% chance of that happening, so if you send 100 ships through at once, expect to get 80-90 out the other end..

Not having checked the data files for this, is the percent chance for collision moddable to 0%? I hope so.

It is, yes. Keep in mind that ships only collide if you specifically tell them to go through all at once.

Not that I don't think it is a good idea, but I just think 10% is too high. Personal opinion is that it should be more like 1%. Also, the initial shock of this change from SEIV, where I could warp hundreds of ships simultaneously and safely just rattled my bones a little. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/stupid.gif

Well, the defenders don't get that crushing first round of fire anymore, either. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

i am not so sure of that. deploy several satellites around the warp point and watch the incoming ships die in a crossfire before they have a chance to make 1-2 shots. take 8 satellites, one at each compass point, and watch small groups of ships die before they can get more than 1-2 shots off each. usually the lead ship doesnt even get a shot off. i have put 20 satellites around a warp point and watched my enemy's 8 ship fleet get shredded b4 my ships could get within firing range.

Can't you also arrange your ship/base starting positions, so you don't even need to use satellites to set up a warp point firing squad?

That's great. I am currently reading the Shiva Option in the starfire series. Ships can either go through the WP in single file or en masses, risking the chance to interpenetrate. The Bugs don't care about the risk so they always go through together, ships blow up if they materialise in each other, while the humans evetually have to do the same otherwise they are at a disadvantage.

yeah you can setup locations before hand. However sometimes one must give the command to shift all available starhips to defend a location against an opponents attack elsewhere. This was the case here, i had just finished and was returning ships to bases for repair and others back to assigned patrols. My ships had warped in the turn before and i had not gotten around to placing them.

------edit-----
besides isnt that was satellites are for, to defend a location. well i guess there is also spying.

----edit 2------
have ships with sat layers in combat drop them when close to the enemy and they become quite useful for providing cheap added firepower.

The same goes for satellites. I had level 10 sat layers but they would not launch more than 2 per turn. Those sats also would not fire at targets even though they had enough ordinance and they were in range.
