Cool beans! I really enjoyed your SE4 sound mod. I believe it was the first mod I installed and played with.

Oh, its not top secret CK http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif it's just not done yet! Now that the bugs and UI issues are getting some needed attention and fixed, I can concentrate more on the fun stuff like, sounds, ground combat and the AI.

Re: Sound Effect Mod v1.00 for SE V
I've been using the sound mod for the last couple of days and I really like the sounds you choose TG! Excellent!

Re: Sound Effect Mod v1.00 for SE V
I don't like the starwars end turn sounds, apart from that it's very good.

Re: Sound Effect Mod v1.00 for SE V
thanks Tampa. Tried on the demo, simulating 100+ ships battling, and not one stuttering (and they are cooler too)

Re: Sound Effect Mod v1.00 for SE V
I think you should drop the instances amount for Warp Point enter/exits though TG, the sound effect can be quite loud otherwis - even better might be to replace this particular sound as its the only one I don't really like. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Re: Sound Effect Mod v1.00 for SE V
Does it get louder the more ships pass through at a given time (i.e. fleet)? Aaron and I have an ongoing bug report on this item because its not supposed to, but I think it does.
Which one don't you like enter or exit? (they are different) |
Re: Sound Effect Mod v1.00 for SE V
It does get louder with more ships and a fleet is louder than 2 ships going simultaneously. I can't say if fleets of different sizes are louder or the same...
It's mostly the exit sound for warp that doesn't quite feel appropriate. |
Re: Sound Effect Mod v1.00 for SE V
I guess this is as good a place as any to ask - I've noticed that the songs (in stock) will loop when in the main game screen over and over. The song will change if you call up a menu. But if you stay on the main screen it will cycle over and over. I wonder if it could be set to move through each track to give more variety...
I changed the demo music to the new Battlestar Galactica music - and it rocks, especially the intro http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: Sound Effect Mod v1.00 for SE V
Just a quick update, I posted a new version up in the SEV scenario/mod forum. Also posted a patch from v1.00 to v1.01. I would like to request that any comments, discussion, bugs, etc. be reported here instead of that thread to keep the mod thread clean and make it easy to find the latest files. Changes are as follows:
v1.01 (10/19/06) + Changed warp exit sound + Changed end turn sound + Restored warp sound "Effect Instances" to "1" to help with the warp loudness bug + Added "Mod Conflict Analysis" to readme file LINK TO ACTUAL MOD FILE POST Enjoy! -TG |
Re: Sound Effect Mod v1.00 for SE V
Still enjoying this sound pack and occasionally including it as the default sound effects file for the Balance Mod causing errors from time to time for unsuspecting downloaders. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
Just a couple of suggestions though - the warp exit sound has a "pitter-patter" trail at the end of the effect in-game. Also, I really don't like the "lug nut whir" when you're removing components on the design screen. Perhaps something a bit shorter in length? Lastly, I'd increase the sound max distance to about 1000, so we can hear all those lovely weapon sounds and explosions. |
