Priest Question
 

How do you increase the skill level of priests? I have not seen an increase when priest unit gain a level. I tried searching the forums, but got no good result.

Two ways:

1. Becoming prophet; prophets get +1 holy, or H3 -- whichever is higher.
2. Wielding the Sword of Justice, an artifact that gives +1 holy.

There's no empowerment of holiness.

Combat only:
3. have your priest wield a Crystal Shield
4. Communion raises priest levels, IIRC

6. Ring of Sorcery (Still need to confirm this one though)

I doubt that Ring of Sorcery increase holy level. If it does chances are good that elemental staff does as well.

Elemental staff increases elements (fire, water, earth, air). Sorcery increases sorcery levels (nature, astral, death, blood). The only question is if holy falls under sorcery in game or not. I'll be in postition to test it soon anyway.

In such case it must be buggy, because in my recent Atlantis demo game I've seen my Basalt Queen prophet casting Word of Power.
Basalt Queen has base priest level 3, prophet gives +1.
I'm pretty sure no items were involved. I could've gotten some from random event, but I doubt it.

If it's a mage-priest with Astral, cast Power of the Spheres.

Word of power is a H4 spell, so there's no bug there.

Ok, just tested it - Ring of Sorcery doesn't increase priest level.

So strike no.6.

Another item that increases priest level is Sword of Injustice. It used to increase unholy levels in Dom2 but since there is no more unholy it incrases holy now.

There's a blood spell that boosts all paths by 2 for the duration of a battle, at the exspense of horror marking the caster and calling a bajillion horrors to eat everything in sight. If power of the spheres boosts holy, the blood spell probably does too. BTW: comunion definatly used to, not sure if it still does. Dead heroic prohpets could be revived with ritual of rebirth, and, after six months, made into prophets again, further increasing their holy skill. That was in Dom2, not sure if you still can.

It definetly does. My theurgs can cast smite as long as there are two communicants on the battlefield.

Another test; Ring of Wizardry doesn't increase priest level either. I guess that is a change from Dom2 as it did increase priest levels there.

BTW. Ring of Wizardry now costs 65 astral gems and requires level 6 in astral to be forged.

Instead of making your theurgs smite, get a large number of communicants and cast holy avenger+have a lucky arch theurg cast phoenix pyre, nearly immortal suicide bombers ftw! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif. Ring of wizardry not increasing holy is annoying but anyone who can forge it can probably make a communion.

I don't know why I'd want to kill all my commanders off in a single battle from fatigue.

Crystal Shield does not seem to increase Holy level anymore in battles. Somebody please post if they can confirm this.
