And I thought I\'d seen everything...
I was finishing up my third 1v1 demo game (my Kailasa vs AI Pangaea), and in one battle I spotted a Pang Black Harpy who'd made the Hall of Fame with... wait for it...
Heroic Stupidity. + to Morale and Magic Resistance, - to Leadership, one other change that I'm not remembering just now. But c'mon now, it's Heroic Stupidity ! How can you not love this? These developers thought of everything! I would have been laughing like crazy for a good five minutes, but it was past midnight... Sorry, no screenshot. |
Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
LOL, that is great. I haven't got that one on a commander yet (Followers of my pretenders are naturally of high intelligence). I have seen "Unequaled Obesity" and "Third Eye", both of which I thought were pretty interesting.

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
argh I remember when my troop ferrying commander got heroic stupidity. "Hmm... I thought dom III increased the leadership cap?" was my quote. =P

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
My keen badger senses smell an inconsistency !
Low inteligence typically lowers magic resistance ! Check out Deep Ones, various animals. Can someone explain ? |
Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
Heroic stupidity and low intelligence is not the same. Anyone can be unintelligent but only a hero can have that famous stupidity that helps him when he's in trouble.

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
I'm happy someone finally found right name for courage.

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
heh... I had a commander get disease at roughly the same time he made hall of fame for unequalled obsesity
Over time he stayed in hall of fame, with the hp gain outpacing his ever worsening disease... but afflictions continued to mount on him, losing limbs and so forth, gradually growing becoming a huge leprously diseased blob |

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
What type of commander was it? Giving him boots of the behemothwould be funny if hes size 3+, a huge, limbless blob of flesh (or some other substance) rolling over enemy armies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
Oh, that's just beautiful, I like seeing Heroic abilities and afflictions cancelling like that. On the other hand, it's also kind-a disturbing...
|
Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
But have you seen Legendary Cruelty? I got it on an assasin. It gives Fear and increased chance of dealing afflictions...the funny thing is that the assasin himself has Battle Fright and a Chest Wound. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
I was testing out the Demon Lords, and this heroic Barbarian Chief decided to deny Belial the Lord of Corruption. I wondered at the transgression, unitl I noticed he had Heroic Stupidity! Morale 20, magic resistance 13! Of course, the stupidity of his choice became apparent when he died on the first turn. Heroic, but stupid - fits perfectly!

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
There's one I saw (wish I still had the file) wherein a character gets Superior Research ability. Their research climbs and climbs as they stay on the HoF trail. Let me tell you, it created quite the dilemma for me in that it struck my Prophet warleader and left me wondering whether to stay home and research or keep killing, especially since continuing to kill continued to keep him on the HoF trail, gaining more RP.

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
Adept researcher. Thats the name of it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
It's quite rare too. |
Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
It's very nice, although it pains me to get either it or Unequaled Obesity on a warleader spellcaster. Obesity always tends to show up on some poor schmuck like the Androphag Witch King, giving him a nice Spellcasting Encumberance of 12 or so. GUH. And, as noted above, the dilemma presented by Adept Researcher is Not Nice. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
In my recently-wrapped-up Niefelheim game, the initial scout survived to achieve Unequaled Obesity.
Imagine a tall, obese giant sneaking around... |
Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
LOL
yeah that does seem strange. But I bet he survived well when he got spotted |
Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
I had Niefel Jarls with Heroic Obesity. He also had desease affliction and 9HP http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
Out of curiosity, has anyone ever seen a heroically obese undead dude?
|
Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
Someone saw one, but the thread mentioning it fell off the first page... I think the thread's called "Bug or Feature: What's Wrong with this Picture 2?" or somesuch... It was about halfway down the second page of topics.

Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
OT: Am I correct in assuming that there is still no relationship between the unit/what the unit does, and the heroic they get? That is, thugs and sages are equally likely to get Lightning Reflexes?
|
Re: And I thought I\'d seen everything...
You're correct - it's one of the disappointments with Dom3. Would've been nice not to get heroic leadership on scouts anymore (wasted because of 0 leadership, heroic strength on mages, etc.
