Desert Eye (running)
This thread is for the current game using the Desert Eye Map. All slots have been filled.
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Everyone has done their turn...game seem to not generate new turn tho. Probably you have forgoten to set quick host
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Quick host would probably be best with this system, since we often do more than one turn a day, especially on weekends.
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Yeah there is no disadvantage to generating a new turn as soon as all players is done...
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
One of these days I'll correctly set *all* of the parameters when I restart the server; I forgot to reset quickhost when I had to restart last time. I've added the flag to my command line.
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
New turn is up.
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Just a quick overview about who is who from the old thread:
Desert Eye Easy Research, Renaming on, other settings standard Ichtarian - Man solo - Jotunheim CharonJr - Abysia Strages Sanctus – R’lyeh ajr – Caelum Evil Homer - Pythium CharonJr |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Note:
I will be putting my move in later today once Strages gets his move in. I am traveling today so it will be late just in case you wonder why the delay. |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
I'm going on a trip to visit my hometown - I will be able to do my move in a day and a half (and if we are lucky I will be able to make my move before I leave in 4 hours).
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Hiya,
I will be off to visit my Ma during christmas and am not sure if she currently has any access to the internet. Due to this I might not be able to play from the 23rd till the 26th. I am not sure if there is such an option for the server, but could it be set to generate a turn once all players did their turns without any deadline ? Since I saw no deadline/countdown on the server we might even be in such a mode already ? CharonJr |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
I believe it's set now to wait until all player turns are completed, hosting immediately afterwards.
As a courtesy, it's still up to the players to notify the others in advance when they expect to be away. |

Goodness, Amber Clan is tough. Both my armies were just decimated by them.
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Oh yes, I was educated about Amber Clan in another game!
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
who are they so I do not learn the hard way?
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
local inhabitants of some underwater provinces
They defend their home fiercely heh |

oooohhh...better you than me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
I'll be visiting family members tomorrow for a belated Christmas celebration, so may not have a chance to complete any moves.
Happy holidays to the other players and their families! |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
The filthy treachery of man has shown itself. We honored a peace pact that has not been reciprocated. We left you your provinces and you were to leave us ours. WE could have choked off your fortress months ago; instead we let you leave your tiny peninsula. And now you turn on us. You will rue this day.
Of course our minds cannot understand why you would attack a province with a single priest. We can only assume it was a test force since you have a mass of 240 men in the adjacent province. <turns bright purple> <waves tentacles> |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
The priest was a spy like so many other spies you send within our terrotitories. We are not so foolish as to not at least know what our neighbors are up to. You have occupied this land of our fathers because we willed it and for no other reason. There can still be peace but that will be up to you.
(I liked the turning purple thing...made me chuckle) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
We will have to ponder the implications of such brazen "espionage". Sending unstealthy men of the cloth as spies is bizarre to say the least; and they call us insane?
Certainly in our lands the sending of a single lobo guard to its slaughter is called 'testing the waters'. It usually results in the lobo guard being eaten by various creatures of the sea. But at least then we know what to expect in that sea and can prepare for our attack on the next changing of the tide. |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Yes...our council mistakenly sent a non stealth priest instead of a stealthy monk...the head of the council has been ceremoniously whipped with a wet noodle.

Re: Desert Eye (closed)
The spawn from beyond the gate have suggested we accept your explanation at face value.
What value a human's face has is anyone's guess but the squiggly tentacled things from beyond sanity are not to be questioned. <fades to mottled periwinkle> <waves tentacles> |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Well it should be clear to all that Man's word is not worth the wrappings on a corpse.
Do no try and call a 200+ man army taking over our provinces as "spying". "There can still be peace it is up to you" Utter lies and treachery. <blossom radiant crimson> <writhing tentacles> |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Ah, I think I don't feel that much better that the Jotun spy my defenders caught was really "just" a spy and not a priest, but well, at least he was not a priest... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Malefix, the burning one... |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
We certainly underestimated the power of man's army.
We are not used to taking war to solid ground, and we were clearly outclassed as a sky filled with arrows quickly decimated our numbers. However the foolish pretender of pythium that entered our seas met a swift death. |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
All praise to Epastural...the god of Man!
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
We see the armies of R'lyeh gathering...will you once again thrust your warriors upon the land only to be met by the points of our arrows? Come evil beasts...come and meet your doom.
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Abysia, land of the silent tongue, nation of naked aggression...you are the true bringer of evil and the Kingdom of war
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
We are the defenders of our neighbours who fell prey to your senseless aggression.
You knew that R'lyeh would be helpless vs. your archers on land, lets see how your archers will fare vs. heavy armor... |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Hey guys...I have an issue with this last turn. One of my commanders who was attacked by a disease demon clearly escaped with 16 hp to spare off the map but he has disappeared. I guess there is not much I can do about it - The statistics show him as dead but the battle just does not show that. What a bummer.
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
if itis poison on some damage that tics he can still die after the assasination attempt/battle afaik, depending on the effect/spell
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
AFAIK whenever a commander retreats from an assassination he is considered dead. There are no retreats from duels as far as I know http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
And yup, the poison will continue to tick for some tunrs as can be seen by watching battles where units on the winning side are poisoned. But the issue here was a retreat (attempt) from a duel. Due to this high level fear tends to be very nasty at duels http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif CharonJr |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Well, the game is over for me this time...I had fun. Let me know when this one is over -I am up for a new game. Thanks guys - I will get you next time!

Re: Desert Eye (closed)
I just noticed all the typos in my in game message. Heh. Aye it has been fun so far!
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Oh and hey...CharonJr...next time...try not to knock me out of the THIRD game...man, I need to stay away from you. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Just start the next one on a different continent!
See you next time. |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
you mean we have a choice?
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Odds are it will happen sometime.
However, if you find yourself right next to him next game, just crush his armies and take his capital, and your problems will be over! |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Hiya,
is there any possibility to not host a game despite all players already having connected to the server ? I have started to play the new turn, but just got a phone call that a friend needs a hand (his car broke down) and I doubt that I will be able to play this turn before tomorrow night. CharonJr |

Re: Desert Eye (closed)
As requested by our Abysian colleague, I have disabled quickhost. Please let me know when I should turn it back on.
|
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Thanks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I did not "end" my turn, just quit out, but the symbol I saw (no cross over my flag) suggested that this counted as having played my turn. I should be able to get in my turn today. CharonJr |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Sorry, but it looks like I will only be able to play this turn during the weekend.
Due to being attacked by the evil birdmen I will need more time for this turn than I am currently able to spare. But I will be able to get my turn in on Saturday. Sorry for the delay... CharonJr |

Re: Desert Eye (closed)
This is an AAR of my resent demise in this game Of course, when I started it, my plan was not to lose but oh well. Please feel free to give me some pointers on how I can improve my game. I hope you enjoy.

Re: Desert Eye (closed)
Ichtarian, you are a very good writer. An enjoyable tale.
I hope things are okay with CharonJr. So far he has been very reliable and punctual, so I have to wonder why we haven't heard anything else since his last post. |
Re: Desert Eye (closed)
So how is the world looking now? Can someone give me an update on the state of the game? Anyone knocked out yet?
