Desert Eye (running)

This thread is for the current game using the Desert Eye Map. All slots have been filled.

Everyone has done their turn...game seem to not generate new turn tho. Probably you have forgoten to set quick host

solo December 17th, 2006 06:00 PM

Re: Desert Eye (closed)

Quick host would probably be best with this system, since we often do more than one turn a day, especially on weekends.

Evilhomer December 17th, 2006 06:03 PM

Re: Desert Eye (closed)

Yeah there is no disadvantage to generating a new turn as soon as all players is done...

Re: Desert Eye (closed)

One of these days I'll correctly set *all* of the parameters when I restart the server; I forgot to reset quickhost when I had to restart last time. I've added the flag to my command line.

Note:

I will be putting my move in later today once Strages gets his move in. I am traveling today so it will be late just in case you wonder why the delay.

I'm going on a trip to visit my hometown - I will be able to do my move in a day and a half (and if we are lucky I will be able to make my move before I leave in 4 hours).

Hiya,

I will be off to visit my Ma during christmas and am not sure if she currently has any access to the internet.

Due to this I might not be able to play from the 23rd till the 26th.

I am not sure if there is such an option for the server, but could it be set to generate a turn once all players did their turns without any deadline ? Since I saw no deadline/countdown on the server we might even be in such a mode already ?

Re: Desert Eye (closed)

I believe it's set now to wait until all player turns are completed, hosting immediately afterwards.

As a courtesy, it's still up to the players to notify the others in advance when they expect to be away.

It is indeed already set up that way; people have been so good about taking their turns I haven't bothered switching it to host after any amount of time. Since you've given fair warning, I will make sure it doesn't host from the 23rd through the 26th unless all turns are in.

Re: Desert Eye (closed)

The filthy treachery of man has shown itself. We honored a peace pact that has not been reciprocated. We left you your provinces and you were to leave us ours. WE could have choked off your fortress months ago; instead we let you leave your tiny peninsula. And now you turn on us. You will rue this day.

Of course our minds cannot understand why you would attack a province with a single priest. We can only assume it was a test force since you have a mass of 240 men in the adjacent province.

Ichtarian December 26th, 2006 02:47 PM

Re: Desert Eye (closed)

The priest was a spy like so many other spies you send within our terrotitories. We are not so foolish as to not at least know what our neighbors are up to. You have occupied this land of our fathers because we willed it and for no other reason. There can still be peace but that will be up to you.

Re: Desert Eye (closed)

We will have to ponder the implications of such brazen "espionage". Sending unstealthy men of the cloth as spies is bizarre to say the least; and they call us insane?

Certainly in our lands the sending of a single lobo guard to its slaughter is called 'testing the waters'. It usually results in the lobo guard being eaten by various creatures of the sea. But at least then we know what to expect in that sea and can prepare for our attack on the next changing of the tide.

Yes...our council mistakenly sent a non stealth priest instead of a stealthy monk...the head of the council has been ceremoniously whipped with a wet noodle.

Better make that 2 wet noodles, the second for your martyred priest in the lands of Jotun!

I didn't mind at all. Keep sending more in.

Well it should be clear to all that Man's word is not worth the wrappings on a corpse.

Do no try and call a 200+ man army taking over our provinces as "spying".

Utter lies and treachery.

Re: Desert Eye (closed)

We certainly underestimated the power of man's army.

We are not used to taking war to solid ground, and we were clearly outclassed as a sky filled with arrows quickly decimated our numbers.

However the foolish pretender of pythium that entered our seas met a swift death.

Hey guys...I have an issue with this last turn. One of my commanders who was attacked by a disease demon clearly escaped with 16 hp to spare off the map but he has disappeared. I guess there is not much I can do about it - The statistics show him as dead but the battle just does not show that. What a bummer.

if itis poison on some damage that tics he can still die after the assasination attempt/battle afaik, depending on the effect/spell

CharonJr January 4th, 2007 09:02 AM

Re: Desert Eye (closed)

AFAIK whenever a commander retreats from an assassination he is considered dead. There are no retreats from duels as far as I know http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

And yup, the poison will continue to tick for some tunrs as can be seen by watching battles where units on the winning side are poisoned.

But the issue here was a retreat (attempt) from a duel. Due to this high level fear tends to be very nasty at duels http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Hiya,

is there any possibility to not host a game despite all players already having connected to the server ?

I have started to play the new turn, but just got a phone call that a friend needs a hand (his car broke down) and I doubt that I will be able to play this turn before tomorrow night.

If you're asking about the turn that we've been on most of today, that just hosted. If you're asking about the current turn, I can turn off quickhost before I play my turn, but unless you've already submitted your turn (not just connected) there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

I did not "end" my turn, just quit out, but the symbol I saw (no cross over my flag) suggested that this counted as having played my turn.

I should be able to get in my turn today.

Sorry, but it looks like I will only be able to play this turn during the weekend.

Due to being attacked by the evil birdmen I will need more time for this turn than I am currently able to spare. But I will be able to get my turn in on Saturday.

Sorry for the delay...
