How do you play your SE game?

All this recent talk about Multi-Player and Solo Play has gotten me to really wonder how do you play the SE Series? Now this doesn’t have to be just SE5 if you still play SE4 that is ok answer anyway. I would say there is no need to leave an explanation for how you voted. However I know you guys and you will anyway.

Ok maybe I made the percent a little too tight. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif But I didn't want to get into this whole "what is majority of your time". You guys are smart you know what I mean by 75%.

Lately I've been going more and more multiplayer-only, due to lack of time.

Multi is where all the exciting action is (Games with other humans have more meaning, and more interesting situations), and it takes up very little time each week.
Even 12 hour overtime days are a non-issue, since it is only one turn before bed or while eating breakfast.

It's way to early to tell (with only 11 votes) but I am starting to see and interesting and unexpected pattern? The Anthro training just kicked in with an explanation.

You may only choose one http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif ...
What if the percentage is less than 75% in either direction?
Also, answers with SE5 in mind will be skewed by various perceptions about one or the other mode being currently unplayable, so you'll get people answering either the amount they would like to play, mixed with people who only play another way because they don't think SE5 is viable the other way, etc.

Re: How do you play your SE game?

As much as I'd like to play against human opponents, when I do play I like to play 'as much as I want', so the whole PBW style doesn't quite cut it for me. So I'm flying solo.

Don't make too much of it PvK. It's just a simple question and the around 75% thing I addressed in the second post. Thanks for taking the time to point those items out though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Re: How do you play your SE game?

PBW games take a lot of time and people tend to drop from the games or don't bother to upload turns which only adds to the delay of the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif I usually play one or two PBW games a year that go on for years. I think the longest game I was in was just over three years.

If you go by number of turns, SP. By number of games/time spent, MP. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: How do you play your SE game?

The only time I play solo is to test a tech out, or otherwise experiment. For actual game play, though, it's only MP for me right now, simply because I'd rather be beaten in a competetive game against a human opponent than to beat the AI in a cakewalk. I'm confident that the AI will eventually be developed to where I'll want to play it, but for now, MP only.

I've been impressed with the PBW system. Thanks to all who make it happen.

I used to play head to head with Intimidator and he is very good. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif We would play via IM. Head to head games are very fun as you can get a 100 turns a day in easily. Intimidator was a very good opponent. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif He won every game we played, the evil cloaked mine laying bastard!

I'm impatient and have LOTS of free time, so I play solo. I played exactly ONE PBEM game of SE4. Fun, but much too slow for my tastes.

Speaking of multiplayer games a new Invasion! PBW has started called Invasion! Monster Free. Join before its to late it promises to be one of the best SE4 games ever.

Re: How do you play your SE game?

I only play solo. When I play, I like to spend a solid block of several hours or more to play intensely and play as many turns as I can, but lately the free time to do that comes along only infrequently, so sometimes months go by without playing! (I miss those good old days when I was a student.) If I leave a game for more than a day or two, I forget what I was doing or what my strategy or plan was, and so I lose interest in continuing, and so I start a new game.
