Eventide - Random Nations, Late Era (Calmon Wins!)

Eventide

Eventide Status Page

Game Type: TCP/IP (static server)
Speed: 48 hours per host + quickhost
Era: Late
Players: 18 (all)
Nation Selection: Random with exceptions
Map: 16.6 provinces per player pre-generated map.
Victory Conditions: 224 out of 300 provinces controlled
Graphs: On
Magic Site Freq: 50
Hall of Fame: 15
Renaming: On
Everything Else: Defaults
Masterpass: There will be one
Length: If you aren’t eliminated this game might last 6+ Months. Be prepared!

Ermor – Velusion
Ulm – Meglobob
Utgard – FAJ
Mictlan – Lch
Pangaea – Shovah32
R'lyeh – Reay
Jomon – Manuk
C'tis – PashaDawg
Agartha – Ramshead
Caelum – Uninspiredname
Abysia – CyborgMoses
Patala – Micah
T'ien Ch'i – Baalz
Atlantis – Terasaerto
Man – Fal
Marignon – Calmon
Midgard – Folket
Arcoscephale – Hadrian II

Due to the fact that the virtual server which runs these games has timekeeping issues I will be manually forcing this game to host every 48 hours. Eventually the game will move to another machine. Quickhost will be enabled. It is hoped that players will normally be able to play every 24 hours, with the occasional missed day.

Players who wish to surrender (resign) should simply turn their nation to AI or have a substitute take over. Failing to do you turn twice a in a row without letting anyone know will get you put on AI.

Re: Random Nations , Late Era (Players Wanted)

I would like to play.

The 2 nations I do not want to play are LA Caelum and LA Agartha, bcause I have already played those in MP.

Cheers and thanks for hosting a LA game.

I would like to get in on this, provided that you're okay with my being new at multiplayer. I'd prefer not to play Jomon or Patala.

I'd like to play, I'm very new, and any nation is fine. I haven't played a PBEM before! I'm really interested in getting in on some multiplayer.

Glad to have you. FYI though this is a TCP/IP game where you have to connect at the minimum of every 48 hours to do your turns (the server will always be on) - not technically PBEM.

Of course the speed of the game is comparable to most PBEM games out there http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Random Nations , Late Era (Players Wanted)

I appreciate the heads up. I'm extremely computer literate, I'm getting a computer science degree in Information Systems and I build them all the time. Keeping up shouldn't be an issue.

What does quickplay mean exactly? I'd hazard to guess that it means that if everyone has finished their turn ahead of time, it begins the next turn right away.

In german 'Ich' means 'I' but you're player #1 so that can't be.

Renaming will be allowed (forgot about that) Graphs will stay on (personal preference to identify the leader).

Re: Hey not fair calling me names already!

We are full... sorry to all those after Hadrian II. (there are only 18 nations available in the Late Age).

I'll start assigning nations later today.

Velusion January 28th, 2007 02:22 PM

Re: Hey not fair calling me names already!

Nations are posted. Get those gods ready and them them (along with the password!) to velusion(@at@)sbcglobal(dot)net. I'll respond back with the IP/port of the server and eventually (unless you specify otherwise) send out a complete email list to everyone and add everyone to get hosting notifications.

First assignments went off without any conflicts!

I must admit I kind of took a double-take when I got Ermor as I already play them in 2 of the other 3 MP games I'm in (though not the late "Ashen Empire" version). On the one hand I know I'm going to get stomped (they don't have the best rep in MP it seems)... on the other hand at least I'm familiar by now with undead nations http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif.

Commence whining and wailing concerning your nation assignment now... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Hey not fair calling me names already!

Caelum... I suppose raiding and battle-magic will be today's forecast. I definitely won't be able to take the resource-heavy troops, and will need to rely on random magic to get the more powerful thunder spells... A site-searching Pretender will come in handy for getting it started. I've never had any success with Caelum's archers, not even when wind-guided, so I suppose military might comes second.

Coming up next, attack of the frog Eskimos!

Hard as nails Ulm...

Ulm eh?...ultimate warrior time...he could have been a contender...don't push me...I'll be back.

calmon January 28th, 2007 04:56 PM

Re: Hard as nails Ulm...

Marignon, thats interesting.

Can anyone explain me the use of Missionaries? They are Lv1 Priests, costs more than the indy priests (60) and have no stealth. For that i got ultimate sailing. Do they have any hidden abilities?

Hadrian_II January 28th, 2007 05:46 PM

Arcoscephale

Arcoscephale will rule this world http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Now will we use our Elephants, our broad spectrum of magic or will we just rule using the superior Infantry of arco?

CyborgMoses January 28th, 2007 06:59 PM

Re: Arcoscephale

Oh no. I shall have to burn everyone in the infernal pits of Abysia. Woe is me.

I knew it, Jomon. Pretender sent.

Sailing is very handy for mobility if you are on the coast. Not sure what "ultimate" sailing is. Since two nations have sailing in this era I tried to ensure the map would hopefully allow sailing to be actually useful.

calmon January 28th, 2007 08:12 PM

Re: Hard as nails Ulm...

Sailing is good in some situations, but mainly for commanders/mages and marignon have some of it.

At least if i find some islands on your map i could send a missionar to build up a temple to convince the nonbelievers http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif

Re: C\'Tis Pretender

There is no big rush, but as an update we are waiting on:

Pangaea – Shovah32: I still haven't seen your pretender... perhaps its just a mail delay though. You might want to send it again to be sure.

R'lyeh – Reay: He messaged me and said he should have it in by tomorrow.

Midgard – Folket: Haven't heard from Folket yet.

FYI... if you haven't done so yet go ahead and make sure you can connect to the server. I'll start once everyone is "human controlled".

Folket January 30th, 2007 03:42 AM

Re: C\'Tis Pretender

I will play around with Midgεrd a little and mail my pretender in a couple of hours.

Folket January 30th, 2007 04:47 AM

Re: C\'Tis Pretender

Re: C\'Tis Pretender

Because some slots on the server are still empty and people could missed it:

Velusion mailed you the server ip/port. You have to connect and upload your pretender.

As far i understand velusion don't use the emailed pretenders for that.
