I've created a torrent of the 8 existent SE5 shipsets:

BSG Colonials

Ngrath
Arackterra

(hopefully I didn't miss any sets)

It is not too difficult to get it via bit torrent.

1. Download Utorrent 1.5.
2. Run it and go to Options > Speed Guide. Note the port used under "Current Port".
3. Click on "Test if port is forwarded properly." If the site you are taking to gives you the ok, go to 6. Else, continue to 4.
4. Go to portforward.com and look up instructions for how to forward this port through your router. Do so.
5. Go back to Utorrent's Speed Guide and click on "Test if port is forwarded properly." (If you leave the web page open in your browser, you can just refresh it.) If you get the green light, continue to 6. If not, double check your port forwarding and try again.
6. Download the .torrent file, open it with Utorrent.
7. Select a place to save the files, and bask in the warm glowing glow of the download. Note that the downloading might not commence immediately; this is normal, and it will most likely

No admin access to install anything. I download on my work PC then transfer to my Flashdrive to take it home. I live a in a rural area and have no Broadband at my house. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Utorrent doesn't need to be installed. You just run it.

Might get in trouble for sapping your work's bandwith, though.

BT is a very efficiently way to transfer files over larger groupings of down loaders.

Utorrent has two options, an installer download and the direct download of the single-file application. Choose the latter, without the installer. It'll mean a little more hunting for the "open with" menu on the .torrent file, but you don't actually need to install utorrent.

I have used Utorrent a couple of times and I have to say that it has worked very well for my needs.

I used it to transfer very large AVI files. It worked very well for that purpose and I didn't have to worry about email clogs, or breaking the files into small 5meg peaces.

I would also prefer another option, I also have dial up and I cannot wait 4 hours for the torrent.

Torrents are actually the best option for dialup (feel free to axe the upload rate if you are on dialup). The bit torrent protocol is designed to transfer small pieces at a time; it inherently supports resuming the download from any point. You do not have to wait 4 hours to download it all at once. An hour here, 30 minutes there.

I've gone ahead and recreated the torrent as separate rar archives. The Xoronn has been added to the bunch, for a total of 9 sets.

I compiled them into a single zip file. Some are Zip format and some are RAR format. You can download them seperately on Spaceempires.net, but I thought this might save you some time. Link in my signature as well.

I am thinking about turning on one of my older PC's and just having it run in the back ground. Put UTorrent on it and let it help seed these files. IT really isn't doing anything else other than collecting dust.
