The End of Time (PBEM)

Late Age RANDOM game.
Random Map - (although i'll generate it to make it decent). Not a huge amount of water, maybe 15% of the map max (since there is only 1 water nation LA).
About 15-20 provs per player

Random Nations - Do not ask for your favorite nation. I set it on random because it makes people try new things, myself included.

Normal settings, except renaming allowed and graphs off.

thanks

I would like to play. Give me one-o-dem fancypants random nations.

Re: PBEM for newer, serious players

I would like to join too. Since I started playing mp-games a week ago, I can't wait to get my next turn. I hope you don't mind me of beeing on +7h (or so) time zone. Because of that a fast beginning would be, except for weekends, a bit too much for me.

I would very much like to play Ulm.

Re: PBEM for newer, serious players

This is a random nation game. Please do not ask for a nation, I will let you know what nation you've got when you decide to join.

Sorry, I am backing out
One slot freed up.

Have fun!

Ah, this sounds like exactly the type of game I was just wishing that I could be in, with the sole exception of PBEM being slightly inconvenient. I would appreciate it if you'd sign me up for a free slot.

Hi Johnarryn

did you get my PM?

Re: PBEM for newer, serious players

If you still have space, count me in or keep me as a potential sub. Playing 2 small map newbie games atm, my first 2. Haven't even played a LA nation in SP yet, although I will be soon.

Re: PBEM for newer, serious players

So, RicoRico can't play, and I know I gave Atlantis to someone else, but I can't remember who.

Also, EvilHomer has withdrawn, so we have an opening for Utgard. If you'd like to play as them and meet my qualifications (IMPORTANT!) then please post here and email me your pretender ASAP.
thanks

Re: Turn 2

In the heartlands of a grey wasteland deep within the uneasy bowels of the crumbling fortress known simply as "The Keep of Ulm" A figure in dark grey robes known as Henric, High Priest of the Black Cult sat in silent contemplation, his brow was furrowed with consternation, A new age had begun it seemed the one god had disappeared and his absence was easy ...even for the magic starved peasants of Ulm to see the loss of the One Gods dominion across the lands. Sitting astride a rusted wrought iron chair Henric looked across to the battered and twisted figure laying within the grip of an equally twisted and well-used torture rack, the figure lay exhausted - broken, he was a member of a new heretical cult that had arisen "The Illuminated Ones" they called themselves, to High priest Henric's displeasure the order seemed to know more about the changes within the inner sanctum of the Black Temple then the Black Cult did.

The inner sanctum of the Black Temple was home to an open air courtyard that held three concentric stone circles, each stone facing the centre and hewn of volcanic rock, each a stone primitive anvil in its own right the surface flat still bearing the scars of an age ago when the Men of Ulm were masters of the Forge and anvil. In the centre of the three stone circles was a mighty monolith with a hearth and ancient anvil used to create weapons of great power in ages past. That Monolith they say had once been home to a great power skilled in the ways of Fire and Earth, it was said that it aided the masters smiths of old in the creation of arms and armour made of the black ferrous alloy known as Darksteel. For an age the Monolith had lain silent, the inner sanctum bereft of activity, empty save those of the Black Templar the keepers of the sanctum who still watched and waited...

Today however, within the ancient forge at the base of the Monolith a small spark ignited...*thump*.....coal dust from an age ago caught and nurtured the spark...giving it greater life and warmth *thump*....the small flame grew , soon small embers were present *thump thump*...

Inside the "questioning" rooms of the Black Temple Clodomir lay bleeding and battered on the iron rack he closed his eyes "the end is near...please let it be slow" then he heard the faint *thump* of power, he opened one swollen eye *thump* and looked across to his torturer, yes he had felt it too...Clodomir guessed the High priest had some knowledge of the arcane....yes the portents had been true, The Sleeping One was beginning to rouse from its slumber....its dark constructive energies no longer supressed by the One. He smiled a new age was indeed upon them.

Outside the Ruined Keep of Ulm the inhabitants to felt the dull *thump* emananting from within the keep, Farmers looked up from their ploughs fearfully, the merchants stopped mid haggle with open mouths to stare toward the ancient Keep. Stalwart and grim the people shrugged - The Inquisition would keep them safe, although many muttered a ward against magic and as if a collective mind had spoken to them, each men and women unconciously walked with a little more purpose in their step *thump thump*.

Within the shadowy winding pathways of the Black forest packs of wolves converged together and faced towards the Ruined keep, a mighty howl ran wildly through the forest, not far away two fortune tellers sat by a small fire, they looked to each other....both feeling arcane magics ebbing from them....seemingly sucked away into the nether...what was happening?

*Thump..thump...thump..*

The Sleeping Forge had awakened.

Bummer. Keep us posted, and thanks.

Waiting.....

I have everyone's turn, but i'm still waiting on Cor for his password. I don't know if he's been having some technical issues or something. I guess this is why I should have had a master password. Anyhow, I need to either set Patala to AI or have a new player, because having someone able to waltz in and take Patala's capital without any fight whatsoever seems rather unfair.
Sorry for the delay everyone.

As the Warlocks toil beneath, the sundial continues to diminish its shadowed lengths with each passing month. Portents have become increasingly common, and the forces of Brand the Unconsecrated furiously quench their armaments, preparing for the Arrival.

O'al Bar carries forth the flaming standard from the growing conflagration within the heart of The Mountain, preparing to lay waste to all those that deign worship false idols.

Turn 11 has been sent out. Please make sure to get your turns in on time... it keeps the game moving.

Hahaha, you sent a message warning of a coming attack to arrive on the same turn as the attack, GameExtremist? Ah, well. Incidentally, those temples of mine on either side of your shiny new province are all that's keeping Ermor's domininon from overwhelming the lands you seem to covet so much. Just so you know.

One other announcement... i'm going to be starting a random-nation EA game fairly soon... thought i'd open up the game to people who I know get their turns in quickly (itll be another 24 hr host game, hopefully). Let me know if youre interested... send a PM. Thanks!

Just wanted to send a salute out to Seej (Pangaea). I noticed he went AI this turn and wanted to say he fought well and with honor, but fortunate positioning and resources allowed me to move quickly and strike at his capital. You will be missed Seej, your valiant defense on the plains outside your fortress and the bravery of your troops will not soon be forgotten.

hahaha, I'd be interested in you, CyborgMoses, remembering to pay attention to what I said ten turns ago, pally. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

By the way, great job atreides! As this is my last turn and all, I'd like to say I had a great time messing around with you as you conquered my weakly held provinces while keeping others off your back. Amazing.

Good luck Caelum and Marignon, looking forward to reading updates.

What, you mean how you said that I should fight a two-front war, with one of my opponents the most powerful nation in the game? Yeah, I'm still thinking "I'll pass" was the best decision.

Actually, you've been playing against me (Hellboy) for the last 5 turns now. Not that there's been a significant change in policy, atreides gave me quite clear guidance! You lucked out (well, in a relatively speaking), in that the computer ignored my movement orders last turn <grrrr>. Anyhow, good fight, knocking me off your capital was a good move, and took me by surprise, from there you certainly did an excellent job of minimizing Ermor's gains from your territory.

Well, that's what its there for right? Seriously, by atreides direction I left that line of indies that was lying between us so that you could create your own little "dominion buffer zone". Dam nice of us Ermorites, donchya think? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

BTW, atreides comes back in around 5 more turns, so don't anyone think you can pull anything over on the sub (and that includes you, Caelum!)

Re: Turn 19

Just thought we would thought we pop over and see what was going on in the land of the walking dead. I will admit what we found was a bit of surprise. Those walking corpses of yours trudge here there and everywhere and suddenly there is this army on your doorstep, it is (and will remain) quite disconcerting.

johnarryn March 14th, 2007 08:43 AM

Re: Turn 19

Ah, yes... I forgot to post that atreides was going on vacation for 10 days... as Hellboy said, he should be back in about 5... how many of us will be left by then?
=)

Re: Turn 19

I can't stop laughing as I replay this 'final' battle. Hellboy is laughing as well, I'd hope. It's irritating that I have to play another turn though. *wink* One more I guess.

Prepare well, all the same, Caelum/Marignon.
