Undead SC Fatigue

I'm trying to design a SC. I think I have a good base. Can someone explain to me how bane blade works for the undead commanders that wield it? I'm confused about the manual's instructions on it only draining for the first 5 points of damage.

Do people think it's better to have two shields, or one shield and the bane blade?

Also, how does fatigue and undead work? If I put some huge armor on it that adds a ton of protection but gives it +8 encumbrance does that effect undead commanders during battle at all? I thought for some reason that they were unaffected by fatigue. I just want to make sure before I send him off to be slaughter XD

Thanks,
Jazzepi

I put 2 shields only on thugs/SC's that have another means of doing damage, ie...trample, then every thing else is defensive in nature.

Most undead have 0 encumbrance. Anything with 0 encumbrance stays 0 encumbrance no matter how much armor you add to it (except for spellcasting purposes). Monolith armor works just fine on a Wraith Lord, for instance.

Bane Blades don't drain life AFAIK, they just Decay whatever they hit (+5 age/combat round). You're thinking of a Wraith Sword.

I like thugs to have a 1h weapon that does aoe damage. Like fire brand etc, and 1 shield.

I can't bring myself to put two shields on a thug if they trample or have some other attack. It's just too silly.

Re: Undead SC Fatigue

I do not like thugs that trample as they tend to get exhausted quicker. Aoe weapon>trample.

I believe that armour still reduces the battlefield movement of 0 encumbrance units. A bane or whatever with the monolith armour will take an age to close with enemies.

Why? Have you something against trying to keep your trampler alive?

That's what girdle of might, amulet of resilence and boots of the messenger are for.

Insufficient. Playing around in SP with Wishing, I conjured up a Dagon to go trampling over massive hordes. I gave him Boots of Calius the Druid, and an Amulet of Resilience. Oh, and an Aegis. (Hurrah for SP, eh?) I might even have had him wearing Rainbow Armor, I don't recall.

Even with 17 reinvigoration, his fatigue eventually passed 100 and he got killed.

Trample works great against small and medium armies, but against large armies, it will get you killed.

I would have thought it was obvious why. I'll give you a hint; it has nothing to do with gameplay.

I think a basalt queen, size 5, nearly as large as a elephant heavily armoured, with a shield on either arm stomping on all the little people makes perfect sense. It's not silly at all!

Even better when flying... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Should I take this as a hint of what to expect in The Middle Way?

Nah...thats nothing, compared to the 3 water queens, 3 air queens, 3 fire kings and a horde of tartarians a certain someone as... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/eek.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Does the phrase, 'resistance is futile' come to mind?

unless they can fly.

Re: Undead SC Fatigue

Flying uses a lot of energy also. The flying plus trample could mean exhaustion in a long fight, despite reinvigoration items.

not if they are undead (please see nested quote.)

I want to know your definition of a 'horde' of tartarians before commenting on wheter I'm that 'someone' you're referring to or not. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

More seriously, I also have my doubts about equiping your trampling SC's with two shields. While I suppose it does help survivability, all your opponent has to do is send an equal sized oponent at you, and you're stuck with the aptly named 'useless kick'. I very much doubt your two shields will do more than gain you a bit of time in such a situation.

Re: Undead SC Fatigue

You can get attacks from the head slot, feet slot and misc slots so even with 2 shields and symphalian wings you can have some attack potential.
