Re: A Map List
Thankyou!!
|
Re: A Map List
YES, thanks a lot!
|
Re: A Map List
I don't remember people saying thanks for the modlist -sniffle- ;P
I might have to do some quick NI (no indy) versions of some of these. |
Re: A Map List
ah, thats cause people arn't as sick of playing the same nations are they are as sick of playing the same map, over and over and over again :p
|
Re: A Map List
That's actually a damn good point. Dom3 has such variety in terms of nations that people aren't actually that excited to get new ones to play. If this was some other strat game and there were so many mod nations available people'd be doing backflips.
|
Re: A Map List
Mm, in Dom 2 I liked mods a lot more, except that they replaced nations, other than it was so exciting!
But now! it's like, hey look, "another" nation joy, I often find myself thinking, "you know this mod is alright, but I'm probably not going to leave on cause it kinda doesn't fit into the dominions scene." But that doesn't mean we should stop making mods! mods are great! |
Re: A Map List
I'm very excited by quite a few of the new nation mods actually - but it's true, I just haven't got around to playing them yet, what with all the vanilla nations. For example, I discovered Machaka yesterday - I just never noticed them before!
I'd be quite keen to start a LA MP game using some of the more balanced new-nation mods soonish though. |
Re: A Map List
Somehow I never make these lists.

Sorry about that link. I didnt actually do those pages. I should start working on that stuff. And setting up the daily updates so that the maps dir like I had for Dom2 Dom2 Random Maps will be active again with Dom3 versions. For now, I do have the Battle Sim Battle Simulator map And a Dom3 version of my popular Dom2 map altho I dont have it re-randomizing a daily version yet. Poke in the Eye map So far only one other chaotic craziness map and it has 1500 provinces. It crashes some peoples machines and takes so long to create a game that some people think its crashed. Thats why I shifted my attentions to the programs which modify the maps with pre-written provinces. MegaMap zip I have one mod, just as crazy. It puts all of the nations into early era so you can play them in one game. It goes great with that 1500 province map. Single Age mod I have one minor utility thing. A SaveGames .lnk file for Windows. SaveGames link for Windows Other than the daily randomizing maps and such, I also might do something to update one of my favorite mods from Dom2 days. Its kindof the opposite of the balance mod. Unless someone else does it first. It can be found here... Randomize Units mod Id also like to see some Dom3 versions of some strange chaoticized Dom2 maps... Orania the Nasty Edition map Miirunst Extreme map I might even get around to changing the old DomMap generator abit Dominions 2 Map Generator project and various other old Dom2 projects if I cant get someone else to do them better. www.Dom2minions.com |

Re: A Map List
No prob. Its not new. I know that my stuff doesnt categorize well.
All of my projects for Dom2 never seemed to get mentioned on sites or lists either. Especially the Illwinter site. My penchant for chaotic randoms tends to stand alone. Thats why the Dom2minions.com site provided space to mention all of the randoms, randomizer, mapgen projects that I or other people did. |
Re: A Map List
Thanks for making this thread. There really is a need for it. I hadn't seen several of these and had no idea they were available.
|
Re: A Map List
Loemendor by Kaljamaha. That one definitely belongs in any map list thread.
|
Re: A Map List
There's also Dedas' version of Loemendor, which sounded like it added some nice balancing features. (different map file, same image).
|
Re: A Map List
I don't know about balance, but it certainly adds RPG flavour.
Oh, and both the map file and image are modified, all by permission and supervision of Kaljamaha. @llamabeast I've decided to try and get the Loemendor PBEM started again. It would be great if we could use your more than excellent email automatic thingie. |
Re: A Map List
Dedas, where is yours available? Could you attach it?

http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...o=&fpart=1 Feel free to add any feedback, and remember that it is a scenario and not a "free play" map. You can of course change that in the map file if you feel like it. |

4 No Indy Maps
Here is a zip containing the four No Indy version maps that I know of; Parganos, Cradle, Silent Seas and Aran.
You don't need to No Indies mod to use them. Ah, attachments are down, so get the file,... http://www.mediafire.com/?5nnbets1hid There ^ |
Re: 4 No Indy Maps
Say.. there aren't any sixty-ish maps are there?
I can find maps for 2-4 players (45 provinces on land), and provinces with a recommended minimum six players (Aran, 96 land), but I'm having trouble finding a designed multiplayer map for the middle ground, comfortable for 4 to 7 players, perhaps. 60 to 80ish? Thanks in advance. |
Re: A Map List
I seem to be unable to run The Lonely Mermaid map on my Mac. Has anyone else had this problem?
|
Re: A Map List
I just started a test game on the Lonely Mermaid on my MacBook Pro, and I played 3 turns without problems. What errors/problems did you see?
|
Re: A Map List
Hi guys I have a great map that I would like to post but it is too big to post on this site. Anyone have any ideas how I could share it with everyone? Thanks!
|
Re: A Map List
Hmm, try www.mediafire.com, see if you can put it on there.
|
Re: A Map List
I tried mediafire and its even too big for that! It is an awesome 1500 province map with oceans and continents. One of the best big maps Ive seen out there! Can anyone else host it?

Re: A Map List
Just putting a link to my first map in this thread, to get it publicity and to help this thread stay complete.
Infinite Sands Put lots of work into this... the screenshot below really doesnt show off the beauty of the map zoomed in. It's a desert map, so supply is low, and a few oasis provinces are worth much more than a number of sandy wastes, which could change some tactics. http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/9...altransqu4.jpg |

Re: A Map List
"The Eight Gates"
STORY ----------- While the Pantokrator ruled, there was relative peace in the world. Skirmishes would break out from time to time, but not major wars. The people were united under one god. Since his sudden dissappearance, the world has turned to Chaos. The various peoples of the world have each rallied under their local deities and are fighting for primacy. Even the world itself is being torn apart - rifts have opened up in the fabric of the world, swallowing land and lake alike into voids of nothingness. In the wake of this chaos, eight flavors of magical gates, previously only accessible to the Pantokrator and his highest servants, have opened up across the land. Any common man can travel the gates, crossing huge areas of land in a short time - but sometimes there is a horrible price for travelling the Gates. With the people warring and the world itself in destruction, one supreme god must rise to power, to calm the world and to rule the heavens. Will it be you? DETAILS ---------------------------------------------------------- Roughly 230 provinces, 10 water, rest land. Not wrap-around, but efforts have been made to reduce/eliminate the advantages of edges and corners. Start locations are not set, but are restricted to a set of provinces all of which are roughly balanced. A water player is allowed, but would likely be at a serious disadvantage. The map has a lot of chokepoints, and a fairly low number of average neighbors. This is countered by The Eight Gates - a means of teleporting across the world. This means that despite the low average connectivity, there is no/little chance of getting boxed in because of myriad options for expansion/attack. more info http://www.shrapnelcommunity.com/thr...&fpart=all screen shots (as usual, the real map is prettier) Four of eight magic nodes http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/368...previewlk7.jpg Preview of (a small part of) the overland map (without province borders). It's a swampy area with 4 flavors of gates visible. Clockwise from top left: water, life, blood (the pool of blood at the bottom), astral. The blood gates look different from the other 7 flavors of gate because blood magic is different from the 7 other types of magic in dom3. http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4...landpreoc8.jpg |
Re: A Map List
thanks for the list! but does anyone know where to get good real world or historical maps? i'd love to do a greco-roman 'known world' map but i can't find an RGB and am enough of a neophyte to be incapable of succesful mapmaking http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Re: A Map List
Gang wars 1.00
The Story: "You are a stranger in town, a strong, evil stranger and you want power, LOTS of power. The cityguard could be a way.. a LONG, SLOW way to power, and long and slow just isn't like you. The King isn't going to give you his power either, and you hate him for it already, ow yeah, he'll pay too. And religion.. is not the thing for you, except to be worshipped by your minions as they spread your gangs dominion over the city. Take the power you deserve. And the money. And the lives you need to take to get whatever else you want.TO PLAY THIS GAME: 1. create at least 4 nations 2. use The King, The Church and The Nobility as 3 of those and set them to computer controlled, do not choose The City Guard as a nation. 3. Create a slot for your own nation, set it on human. 4. If you want other gangs competing for power in the city create a maximum of 4 other nations. 5. Use an awake pretender (and some combat qualities might be usefull) as your gangleader carving your name in the annals of the city" -- All water-nations, MA/LA Ermor and MA Tien Chi are disabled. The nations which are used as the resident powers in the city are MA Pythium/Man/Ulm and Marignon and are thus not playable either. The Map: the map looks like this: see first post The map is out NOW!! please play it The general idea behind the map: You arrive in a city and start to creat a gang (nation) to take it over. The King in his castle obviously has troops too, as do the Church and the Nobility 2 powers already in the city, fighting for control within the city walls. On the gates the City Guard is posting and preventing scum like gangs like yours to enter the city. Obviously the city guard is at peace with everyone... as long as gangs don't try to cross the gates. --> The map will be is campaign/RP sort of map with a lot of pre-made quarters where specific people live (and fight to prevent you taking it over). --> You and (if you want) some opposing gangs start outside the walls, to cross the gate means fighting the guards. To cross the gates also means entering the domain of the Church and the Nobility. --> The king resides in the castle and is happy enough to stay there if undisturbed, but of course.. to be the boss of all means the king cannot be allowed to live. And who doesn't want to live in his nice castle --> There is a victory point in the Kings castle so playing for VP or cumulative VP is an option too. Personally I think playing for 10-15 cumulative VP would make the end game a nice "King of the Hill" play. The new file is attached to this post, DL, play and enjoy thread for gang wars map + download |

Added a note to the thread topic about Zylithan's website. A great resource with a lot of potential. (Thanks Zylithan!)

Ha!
I have made my first review. Played a bit of SP during christmas. Nice website! |
Re: A Map List
This is a map request, not exactly part of a map list.
My son and I would like to work on an SCA mod where the 17 North American SCA kingdoms would duke it out (so to speak) in D3 and possibly add the 2 non-North American kingdoms once we figure out how to get them in. However, neither one of us are terribly competent graphic artists. What I would like is a Dominions-style map of North America of relatively large size running roughly from the Arctic Circle in the north to the US-Mexican border in the south. The Caribbean islands are not necessary but adding Hawaii would be a nice touch (not necessarily to scale). The provinces do not have to be created. We will do that based on SCA geography and resources. The final map should probably scaled sufficiently sized to be in the 500-750 province range when completed. Another version which has Europe, Australia and New Zealand added (but necessarily out of scale) would be welcome however we want to see if the concept works with the North American region. Obviously, once we work on the mod we will post it so that it is available to all. It is our way of getting more of the medieval reenactment community involved in this game in a fun and unusual way. Thanks in advance for the help. |
Re: A Map List
Someone made a dom2 map from a satellite phot of N. Am.
http://www.illwinter.com/dom2/maps.html There was also a map for dom -ppp of N.Am. I don't think I have it any longer. Our link is dead anyway. One of these might be used as a basis for a new map. |
