STEEL SOLDIERS

"STEEL SOLDIERS"

1 hex = 25 m
1 turn = 2 minutes and 30 Sec.
1 "unit" = 1 vehicle or 1 (or 2) men)

New scale and new conception of game.
Only based on French oob vs Red or Green for micro_tactical battles

Coming soon...

Re: STEEL SOLDIERS

That's really cool, we had talked about this a while ago, I'd be interested to see how it actually plays

Re: STEEL SOLDIERS

It works very fine. I am working on french oob, icons and parameters in Mobhack.

Can you give the link of the thread where users were talking about this kind of project ? Perhaps good ideas or suggestions to take here.

Thanks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif

We had been talking about it in the WinSPWWII subgroup. Our main concerns were about whether or not the lethality against single infantry would make the game still playable at this level.

I think that at 25m/hex scale one-two men teams are still a bit small, I'd imagines splitting squads into fireteams would work well, though.

Re: STEEL SOLDIERS

The tip is to consider that "men" parameter does not gibe the number of men, but represent a supplementary parameter :

For human : "points of life" (i.e : a commando with goo équipments, good training, etc... will have 6 "life points", but a ordinary soldier, without special training and poor protection equipment will just have 1 or 2 "life points".

For matériels, veh,etc... : "Men" parameter represents the same : "point of life" of the materiel, veh,etc...

So, you can calibrate as you want this parameter.

Using 1hex= 25m scale allows to have :

More than 1 veh in same hex
One, or more men on same hex : depending tactical situation, men will be in concentration or in dispersion

Anything for the Bundeswehr yet?

Re: STEEL SOLDIERS

No, because to modify all the oob would represent too much work. I create only 2 "generic" battle orders (green against red) to adapt them to the new scale. But other users who want specific oob could take my work in the future to make "national" adaptations.

Re: STEEL SOLDIERS

Near the top of the picture it looks like you have a bridge and bridge launcher (just above the VAB mortar). How do these work? Would this be possibe for the regular SPMBT game? Thanks

Re: STEEL SOLDIERS

You can capture the image in PNG format. Then, register the image as Bmp format, and then, copy/past bridge and Landing-bridge in separated files (each file must have 89 x89 pixels).

After that, you can change the bmp images in "shp" images and to place these images in the game with SHP EDIT and Mobhack.

Note that the icons are not mine, but icons of Plasmakrab I have reworked and adapted.

How it work : very simply : the truck has 255 carry capacity and it transports bridge. The bridge has 0 Weight and 255 carry capacity, ground movement capacity = 1 and Swimm capacity =2.

When the bridge must enter in action, is disbanded of the truck and placed on "river-coast". Then, any vehicle can be downloaded into the bridge and transported on the other side of the river, as "Military_mobile-bridge". The different manipulation player have to do represents the time to manage operation.

Re: STEEL SOLDIERS

Welk, so the bridge is operated in the game in the same way the barge carrier operates, by unloading the bridge/barge? And once in operation, the vehicle is transported like the M2 bridge ferry? I like this idea. I think that a similar idea should be created in the next update! Thanks
