Allegiance Subverters - annoying or what?
I'm having lots of fun in my current game that includes the Abbidon and Cue Cappa. Of course, both of these Filthy McNasties like to use Allegiance Subverters - a lot. I've been pasting their fleets frequently, but every so often they get close enough and BAM! Another ship is captured!
I like to use smaller ships throughout the game and it always seems they subvert my few base ships (they only move 3 squares during tatical combat) so easily! Of course, I can't let my ships fall into enemy hands so I take action. I assemble a task force with a boarding ship and set out to rescue the base ship. It's a big massive sucker full of modified torpedoes and beam weapons. Fortunately there are many ships in the rescue fleet and I pound the ship to it's nearly destroyed - and then re-capture it. I dispatch some repair ships to perform the necessary overhaul and viola! I hate allegiance subverters! They totally criple game balance.

They really do. In the game that I'm playing, the Abbidon and Cue Cappa are in second and third place behind me - and their fleets - they're made up of everyone that been at war with in the Last 100 turns!

Hehehe! I love it! Two-third of my current fleet came from captured enemy vessals thanks to allegiance subverters! I've captured so many hulls that I had to mothball some of them to save maintenance. You guys are lucky that the computer doesn't know how to put them on satellites at warp points! I always do that against the computer and it is damned effective (and cheap too!).

Well at Last someone is complaining that the AI is too effective. I am glad to hear that!!
My suggestion: use master computers on your ships (If you have however my CueCappa modification you might still have trouble). |

I am playing a trader/raider type game and the convertor is needed. As I can not built this tech, I had to capture it. My entire fleet is made up of captured and traded ships. 2/3rd of th the ship of almost every race in my game are made up of ships from all the other races. When there are fleet battles, the side that gets to shoot first and has the most convertors wins.

They are not to effective because of the master computer, and they can only fire once in combat. All that said they are awsome http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon6.gif even more agenst the AI who does not use master computers!!!

Yeah, only one shot. I entered into combat with my three ships, 2 old model cruisers and on top of the line battlecruiser (the only things defending that system which was highly inaccessable due to damaging warp point) whent into combat with one ship.
They took my battlecruiser and used it to destroy my cruisers. After combat they had two ships in a defenseless system. (not even a weapons platform or satelite) so what do they do? They leave. Hmmm.... that makes sense. |

ATTENTION: Allegiance Subverters NOW work against Master Computers in patch 1.41! It is under the "Fixed" catagory, personally I always thought this was a feature. With out even considering the new game balance issues, what do you guys think about this? Personally, I'm not sure this was something I wanted "fixed"!

I thought they fixed it the other way so it would not work against a functioning master computer. I must be more dislexic than I thought.

wow! someone must be psychic (not sure if that is a pun or not http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif but I was about to post a question to the forum asking what the "counter" to the allegiance subverter was...it's sounds like the master computer is. Would that be a correct assumption?? many thanks!

Alligence converters are working fine in my copy , if the target has a master computer - I cannot take it over until I have destroyed the MC.

Destroying a master computer should make no difference. What about destroying it conjures up a crew that can then be subverted?

Yes, I think you have it right. The Computer Virus is suppose to be the counter for the Master Computer which is the counter for the Allegience Subverter.

I've been playing Religious Tech for so long I can't remember. I do love those Talismans - they really countered the fighter bug. Now that the fighter bug (the stacking one) has been fixed, I may give some others a try.... |

I have never used the component, but what your saying then is if you use those Computer Viruses in conjunction with the subverter you capture ships with MC's by targeting the MC first with virus???
Will / does this work? I'm curious - I've never played as Temporal but hope to start human vs. human. I know many people play Temporal 'cause of the AS and the Temporal SY's and I want to be defensively prepared.... |
