New Patch!!

Hrm... it seems the news hasn't filtered down into the message Boards yet. Yep, the new patch has been released. Check out Shrpanel's front page and the downloads page.

Thanks again to Aaron for continuing to make the game better!

[Edited to note] The Admiral has also, now, updated the PBW site for 1.41 support. [/edit]

Odd... Malfador's page dosen't have the patch.
I usually would check there for patches first, but oh well.
Thanks for the tip.

Edit: It's there now. Looks like I just had to refresh the page.

It also looks like the fixed the fighter group bug.

Seems a lot of people noticed about three hours ago. Couldn't get in. Seems to be working fine now, or I managed to slip in.

There is one really important new feature for multiplayer games. Ability to disable surrendering.

EXCELLENT!

It wasn't listed in the history.txt, so I didn't think it made it into the patch. This is very good. Thank you Aaron!

Question, guys: Isn't surrendering just the same as gifting all your stuff? This won't change much, as far as I can tell.

It is more or less the sdam but I believe there is an option (and always has been) to disallow gifts and tributes.

Has anyone figured out what "Version 1.37: Fixed - Allegiance Converters should not work against ships with Master Computers."
did?
I tested it and you still can convert a ship after you destroyed the master computer (thanks the gods!!). And in my experience even in the old Versions you could not convert a ship with an intact master computer.
Do I miss something??

I always took it to be fixing the problem when an Alleigence Converter worked against a functioning Master Computer.
I am confused over this too but if in the end it doesn't work if there a functioning Master Computer then I'm happy because that was the only defense against it.

I don't think it ever did.

Then what did they fix?

10. Note - If you turn on the Resupply Minister, it will give orders to any and
all ships, regardless of their individual minister setting.
</quote>

Hmm. I tried that, and ships happily run out of fuel and then just sit there. At least that's what is happening in sim turns games. Can anyone confirm that?

Thanks -- Aub

According to my experience Alligience SUBVERTERS have always been able to convert master computers.

ITs supposed to be; if the target vessel has a master computer you cannot convert the crew.. once the target vessels MC is destroyed - you can. Thats why having the computer virus tech is nice when your a psychic race.

Its working correctly.

Mabbe it's working correctly NOW (1.41) - when the bug has been fixed.

Several of my MC have been subverted from time to time - I have NEVER seen the opposite, except for when I put a Self Destruct device onboard. The alligience subverter doesn't seem to work against Self Destruct devices (or maybe the AI just doesn't fire the AS at ships with SD devices?)

Re: New Patch!!

The computer will and can use the Allegiance Subverter on ships with Self-Destruct devices. It happened to me earlier today - I had added self-destructs to most of my fleet thinking that those Abbidon punks would get a nasty suprise. They did not. It seems that the self-destruct does not work against the subverter.

That they can....I lost 2 carriers and a SYS to a computer Phychic race. They both has MC on them and never got hit with any other weapon.

That's really strange!
I repeately tested it in the combat simulator and was never able to convert a ship with intact master computer.

Well, I think that since your crew members are mind-controlled by the enemy (or brainwashed or whatever) they won't voluntarily self-destruct their own ship...

Re: New Patch!!

I'm not sure how it works now, but why should an 'AS' work on a ship with a MC at all. Destroying a MC would not suddenly conjure up a crew that could then be subverted. MC's are expensive, and why should any ship mounted weapon have an automatic shot at destroying the largest vessel. In fact, it is worse than destroying it since it joins the AS's side.
