New icon series: Russian AFVs
Hi everyone,
Here is a preview of a new icon series, including variants of the BRDM-2, BTR-60/70/80/90 and BMP-1/2/3 Soviet/Russian AFVs. I felt the original ones were getting a bit old, wanted a fresh base for new non-historic variants, and got a bit carried away... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif I'm currently working on camo versions, if anyone finds some versions that can be added to the pack, I'll be happy to consider. http://imajr.com/th/russian_AFVs_green_070514_47749.png Edit: for some reason the attachment won't work, so please use the text link above to get the full .zip pack. |
Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs
Can you give us a closer look of that?

Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs
Yea, the attachment gives a 404 error.

Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs
Sorry about that, I just worked it around. Use the link in the first post to get the full pack.

And before the non-Russians start jumping up and down, may I add I'll also give a shot to those custom mods I can find (OT-90, BVP-1MB, MLI-84M, YW-506, BTR-94...). There again, if you can think of some that I have forgotten and that can be of some interest in the OOBs http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif, let me know |

Hello Plasma,
Always impressed by your work. Talking about Russian AFVs, here is what I have on the bench. 1. BMP-1 2. BMP-2 3. BMP-2E (or D? not to sure) 4. PRP-3 5. BRM-1 6. ZSU-23-4M 7. T-80B with KMT-5 8. T-80U 9. T-80BV with KMT-6 10. T-80UD 11. T-80UK 12. Ka-50 13. Ka-52 By the way after making some T-80 versions, I'was working on the T-64 series. There seems to be some commonalities between the two especially the T-80U and T-64B engine deck but I'm not to sure about this. The T-80 chassis seems to be wider and longer tough. |

LOL...this is kinda funny. How we have so many others working on this stuff. I'll post my T-64 set preview, that isn't even close to done yet, but all the basic models are covered.
What you have here Pierre is pretty darn good. Good Work. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif |
Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs
Pierre,
These icons of yours are great. I particularly like the ZSU, it's a definitive improvement. Regarding the Kamov helicopters, have you noticed the ones I have uploaded a while ago, that Don has included in the v3.5 release? |

Since we're working on the BMP....here's some pictures I dug up of various variants:

Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs
Plasma,
Thanks for your kind comments but take a look at Joe's T-64s. This guy fights in another league! Attached is the ZSU-23-4 in a more usable form. Feel free to use it the way you want (I don't have your talent at making variants and camos). Concerning your Kamovs It's amazing how starting from scratch we have such a similar end result. I think we have used the same 3 view drawing at a time. And...for the BMPs I suspect that I've made them a bit to large. What do you think? |
Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs
LOL...Pierre, don't sell yourself short. Your icons are very good, VERY GOOD! They caught my eye. I investigated them for some of the effects you got going for ya. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. So chin up man. Keep it up.

Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs
Right on, your icons are really good. The dimensions are good enough (give or take one pixel but no one notices that anyway). I was a bit put off at first sight by the way you handle your colors, but as Joe said, that's just another way of doing things that can shed a new light on everyone's work.
Mark, thanks for the material. The PRP-4MU and the ERA-clad BMP-3 are on my list, and the Kornet BMP-3 will earn a facelift! The Indian variants (and those from other Asian countries) are less-top-priority than the Eastern Europe ones, but I'll get round to them eventually. |

Attached here is the reworked and camoed version of some of the icons above, in classic Russian tan-green disruptive camo.
Most of these will make their way into the next CW2020 release, coming very soon! More exotic variants later. |
Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs
That you do many thanks for that!
We (club Steel Panther Russia) too are not idle, only we work above improvement WinSPMBT in other area. |
Re: New icon series: Russian AFVs
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate having a Russian eye on this. If you guys want to check up the Soviet OOB in the Cold War mod, I'm open to corrections!
