A place to say thanks

Many people here include a thank-you in their posts to the developers of WinSPWW2 and WinSPMBT. I thought it might be good to have a single thread for people to express their gratitude to all those who've worked so hard to create, maintain and improve these two games over the years.

Personally I'm very, very grateful for the efforts that have provided me with so many hours of enjoyment. Many thanks guys!

I had little clue what was in store for me in 1977 when I pre-ordered a copy of Squad Leader from Avalon Hill and got this purple box full of goodies. Wargames at that squad level have captivated me ever since, and played no small part in me going into the military to prove if I was up to it. I wanted to be that "10-3" badass that could tip the balance at the sharp end. The combination of that genre of game and computers was f'n brilliant, and this version is the best of best. Striking the balance of the technical factors, the human factors, and relatively simple gameplay is no simple task. Don and Andy, 21-gun salute for making a good thing even better!

Hello,

I say "thank you very very much" to keep alive the greatest games (Winspmbt and Winspww2) i have ever played.

If i'll go on a desert island that's the only games i'll take with me... (thousands of hours to play, ever satisfied).

Well I'm certainly one of those who have added thanks to my posts.

However, That doesn't stop my yet again to extend my thanks. Being one not to leave things as is, I can ceratinly appreciate to time and effort which goes into this venture. Notice I didn't call it work, because I doubt you could call this labour of love, work.

Keep it up guys, and a heartfelt Bravo Zulu to you all.

It has been 10 years this month since this project first started so somedays the "love" gets stretched a little thin believe me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

However, thanks to all of you. We do appreciate the encouragement.

I add my voice here to say thank you to everyone involved into WinSPWW2 and WinSPMBT development and mission making.

Wow, 10 years are a lot of years but when you see the acomplished job so far I guess you feel like a father watching a growing son, you may feel angry or dissapointed at him somethimes (like the stretched thin love you´re talking about) but overall the proudness prevails (or it should).

I´ve alway wanted to ask if this is a part time job or just a hobby?

Regards
Robert

A bit of both. There have been times in the past when it was a second full time job. Hours worked on the game nearly equalled or sometimes exceeded hours worked at my regular job. I retired last year so this is now my "winter job" and that's when both Andy and I do the majority of the work on the upgrades

Happy 10th anniversary guys!
I've been around for 7 of those years and enjoyed every minute. It is indeed a rare day when I do not have a session of SP. I am very grateful for all the efforts of Don and Andy and everyone past and present who have contributed and made these games what they are today.
Once again thanks a million guys and if I can be of any help at please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards, Warwick

I have quite a number of wargames, but I keep coming back to winSPMBT and winSPWW2 because they have such a good feel to them. Odd way to put it I know, but the games just seem to a natural way of playing.
