LA Catharcia, Forges of Molech (1.0 Beta)
I'll finish my short story eventually. Here is version 1.0 Beta of the Mod.
http://www.mediafire.com/?6pokcdwxx53 Changes (1.0): * Added Carthacian Irregulars for use as cheap blood patrollers and stealth troops. * Changed the PD so that's it all hoburgs (used to have weird clockwork stuff.) * Fixed slots on the demon boar. Demon boar is now 10% insane. * Gave the Mammon Horror Awe. * Shrank the pics for the trebuchet, blood priest and blood cardinal. * Added a bunch more sprites. * Increased attack skill for the larger clockwork monsters. * Hero - Ratzinger, the Blood Pope. 4H 2N 3B 2E 1W 1S, inquisitor. * Hero - Maria, the Golden Maiden. 18 hp metal man with 1H 2A 1S, stealth, seduce 15, illusion and awe. * Added "molech horror" national summon - is a sacred red clockwork horror that horrormarks people and has a small lifedrain. 13 blood slaves gets you five of them. * Added "beast of mammon" national summon - is a sacred gold-tinted clockwork beast with awe that spreads your dominion. 10 astral pearls gets you one of them. Changes (0.2): * Initial army no longer consists of priests (oops.) * Bigger clockwork monsters cost more resources and do not heal outside of labs. Trebuchet costs fewer resources and thrown boulders hit harder. * Nerfed the berg pike slightly. It's now just like a golden spear but not magical. * Bludvater and bludcardinal (priest/mage/generals) are more lightly armored and do not have helmets. Several units no longer have two shields (oops). * Added sprites for most units. * Added three national pretenders. Future plans: * National, magic-being-only version of Gift of Reason, if a future patch supports the magic-beings-only #spec field for this effect. * Finish short story. |

I'm not much of a fan of hoburgs, but I really love what you did with the mechanic things cosing tons of reasauses and ni gold..

Of course, the way the available insane units are you have to chose between being amphibious with darkvision or being magical.
It worked out for me because I was trying to make Sauruman as he was for the Scouring of the Shire (who was basically an angel that went rogue, screwed up, and then fell into dementia) but your mileage may vary. |

Whoops, i had another mod active(greyhawk nations) which has no picture which was causing the problem. Just started a game with the nation but the trebuchets giant boulders need atleast AoE 1 me thinks.

They should be AoE 3. I don't know why it doesn't show up in the weapon profile.

OK. As a side note: D9 Eisen-maids(D9 mainly for PoD fear/affliction battlemagic) are the ultimate god destroyers(good attack, average size for outnumbering, massive affliction causing and horror marking).

I'm pretty sure AOE doesn't work for ranged weapons. Unless that bug was fixed in 3.08, which I doubt.

The Abomination has a ranged weapon with AoE. Are you telling me that this wonderful artillery does not work like intended?

The abomination isn't a mod unit. Or rather, it doesn't use modded weapons.
Like I say, unless it's been fixed, AOE on ranged weapons doesn't work. It's possible you could use secondaryeffect always and set it to an AOE melee weapon (which work, I think), but last time I checked secondaryeffectalways didn't work either. |

Ah, yes, I'd forgotten.
Well, that explains why the trebuchet seemed so useless http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. I'll leave the unit as-is for now, hopefully this'll be fixed in the next patch and I can get a handle on how effective the unit really is. For starters I'll lower the aoe back to 1 on the boulders. |

Currently this nation seems built to destroy large enemies(which i like http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif). Small, decent damage units(swarm giants ect), molech swords(good for SCs ect), high damage trebuchets(fun vrs jotuns) and large units to go head to head with the enemy.

Is it overpowered?
I've found that the military runs roughshod over computer opponents - but then, you always run roughshod over computer opponents so I'm not sure what that tells you. |

Lo and behold, I lurk no more!
Anyways, I gave this Mod a whirl. Insane amounts of fun. I haven't played enough to say if it's overpowered or not. But I just noticed a few things. The Molech Xbow doesn't seem to have missile animation. Enemies gets hurt, but no bolts can be seen flying in the air (quite spooky). Right now I'm trying out Vorlagenerfinder with E4N4S4B4 (to forge boosters) and Turmoil 3, Product 3, Heat 2, Luck 3 and Magic 2. My tactic was to rely on Clockworks so that the -billion% income wouldn't bother and build forts with money events. It's working like a charm. AI abysia is having great difficulties with Steelipides (they get killed, but not before trampling 5-7 infantry), althought I noticed that crossbows hate tower shields. I got few Bludcardinals with astral, I'm thinking about Churning out few Molech Xbows and accompanying them with Blucardinals and scripting Brand of Molech, Brand of Molech, Summon Horror, Summon Horror, Flee. The Xbows would of course fire and flee. Hmm.. I'll tell you how it went. Keep up the good work. |

Brand of Molech was originally intended to cost a blood slave - would it be worth casting, if it were? |
