Tir' na' org (whatever) - I choose you!

Some questions thought. Are any mods in use (like CB or WH)? They aren't mentioned in the main post. If they aren't in use do I need to turn them off before I make my turn?

llamabeast June 19th, 2007 05:49 AM

Re: Game: Scorned Land (open)

Burnsaber - mods will turn themselves on/off automatically for each game as you open it. The only time you ever need to turn them on or off manually is when you create a new game yourself.

Er. I feel extremely stupid, but how do I upload my pretender? I tried the "connect to Dominions server" -command as the manual ordered, but what is the IP address?

the game is willing to take the site name in place of the IP address. It should be able to look up the IP from that.

Be sure that you have gone to the Game Tools menu and created your god first. When you are joining a game like this it does not stop and let you build it.

And be sure to put a password on it when you make your god so that no one else can make moves for you without your permission

Re: Game: Scorned Land (open)

A lizard killed my family, all my friends, and everyone and everything I ever cared about, on my birthday, which happens to fall on Christmas, which-coincidentally-is also the date of my Bar-Mitzvah, which is where I lost my virginity to the only woman I'll ever love, who was also killed by more lizards who showed up (and looked just like you), and they did so in an even more unspeakable way than all the rest, and then the lizards told me that Santa Claus, Jesus, and the tooth-fairy don't really exist, and that they were (collectively) my father.

Plus, you taste like chicken.

Yes, I remember it all now.

It was Slith who started it all by bursting in, demanding crack, and killing my grandparents when they wouldn't give him any. My grandparents needed that crack! they had a crack prescription for their hearts! So Slith *ate* their hearts!

Sure, maybe at one point in time he had been a paladin, but he turned into a huge heart-eating crackhead!

Crack didn't kill my grandparents-lizards killed my grandparents!

...Mmmm I love beef liver. I was just thinking last night how beef liver would be really good if you deep-fried it. So you taste like beef liver, eh? Do your children taste like sweet, tender calves' liver? I bet they do!

Re: Game: Scorned Land (open)

Let's get this game started

---------------
[A spaceship carrying a 100 foot tall silver robot had just landed in, or should I say on, a rather expensive chunk of London real estate, specifically Knightsbridge and more particularly, Harrod’s:...]

"I come in peace," it said, adding after a long moment of further grinding, "take me to your Lizard."

Ford Prefect, of course, had an explanation for this, as he sat with Arthur and watched the nonstop frenetic news reports on television, none of which had anything to say other than to record that the thing had done this amount of damage which was valued at that amount of billions of pounds and had killed this totally other number of people, and then say it again, because the robot was doing nothing more than standing there, swaying very slightly, and emitting short incomprehensible error messages.

"It comes from a very ancient democracy, you see..."

"You mean, it comes from a world of lizards?"

"No," said Ford, who by this time was a little more rational and coherent than he had been, having finally had the coffee forced down him, "nothing so simple. Nothing anything like so straightforward. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."

"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."

"I did," said Ford. "It is."

"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"

"It honestly doesn't occur to them," said Ford. "They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates to the government they want."

"You mean they actually vote for the lizards?"

"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."

"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"

"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in. Got any gin?"

Ahh. Douglas Adams. We miss him greatly. I'm not even in this game, but I enjoyed reading this post. I would join, but I don't think anyone is actually hosting this game.

Well, if Shovah was planning to be Helheim, but someone overwrote his pretender, he won't be able to get in and play if he doesn't have the password. If the person who overwrote Helheim didn't realize and/or doesn't intend to play, Helheim will always stale. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/fear.gif

Oh, well it can't be me. I haven't done a single pretender for Helheim at all.

Dont you have to have the password to the first load in order to overwrite it with a second load? Another reason to be sure and password your gods.

I don't think I've ever been asked for the password when overwriting one of my own Pretenders, but I could be wrong.

Re: Game: Scorned Land (open)

Should we restart (I'm in favor of this option, the game is only on turn 1 afterall, one day there or where)? Or turn Helheim AI?

Tuidjy June 22nd, 2007 02:25 PM

Re: Game: Scorned Land (open)

I say we restart. I have the best possible position for my build, and I still
think that with two nations getting screwed we are better off restarting.

Now, if someone could make sure I get the same starting province... :-)

tibbs June 22nd, 2007 02:31 PM

Re: Game: Scorned Land (open)

I am OK with what I have, but I think we should restart for Helheim since he got the raw end of the deal.

Shovah32 June 22nd, 2007 02:51 PM

Re: Game: Scorned Land (open)

Im happy for you guys to keep playing and turn helheim ai if you want. I just want to clarify that it cant be a mistake at my end as i only have one saved helheim pretender and i have a singleplayer testgame with it that i can access(with the password).

CUnknown June 22nd, 2007 03:35 PM

Re: Game: Scorned Land (open)

I don't mind restarting.
