To all those out there researching construction right now.

We will pay well for these items.

-The 10 death gem crown that causes +5 fear (it's name escapes me)
-pendant of luck
-starshine skullcap

Let us know if you reach the ability to make these soon.

15 Provinces per player? The map is extremely crowded in Midgard's area then. I'll be lucky to take six indies before having to go to war.

Sensori July 30th, 2007 11:37 PM

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

It's crowded everywhere. When I went north, I ran to Ulm very fast. South, I ran to C'tis and Arcoscephale. It's not 15 provinces per player, 10 at most. 5 is more probable. ;p

Sir_Dr_D July 30th, 2007 11:44 PM

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

The spacing is just bad. Some nations do have lots of exansion room. That is going to be a problem later on.

Well, that just basically means that people shouldn't go to war with close neighbors, but the top players province-wise:)

Yes they start with 15D gems from the word go. This is because there economy is magic/gem based rather than money based.

The start I had is the norm for Ermor, Ashen Empire. Everyone thinks big, bad, scarey Ermor early on but by mid game is nothing special. Indeed there magic is very, very narrow, death, death and alittle bit more death. Long term Ermors no threat, of course that won't stop me wiping out 1 or 2 other gods before I go down... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Btw if you look at the stats, other than army/dominion I am not that scarey:- http://www.evilzombies.com/dom3/StarFall.html

Let it be known that the foul and despicable god of Abysia, Hako has broken our NAP one turn after it was formed! Let it be known that the people of Jomon will bring the fight to the fire eater's doors, and crush them for their treachery.

Only one turn, and already Hako's troops pour across our border. We offered them friendship, and alliance, and they repaid us with treachery.

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

I'd like to ask a question. It may put me at a strategic disadvantage but I don't care because I doubt I'd win this game anyway, but it seems I have some problem starting, because while many other nations have over ten provinces by now, I only have six - and I have had no early wars with nearby neighbors, like other players. Plus, with the exceptions of the times when I needed a scout or commander, I have hired a mage every turn, but my research is lagging behind, too. My army score is one of the highest, but that hasn't translated to more provinces. Are you guys just more reckless with expansion and send your troops out outnumbered? Because yes, I tend to not send out troops unless I know they can win with little to no losses. Being used to SP, I'm amazed with how quickly out of the gate even nations with relatively unarmored troops have managed. I would just be afraid a loss or Pyhrric victory would stunt me in the long run, but apparently that isn't happening to anyone else.

I guess some advice on starting out would be cool. I don't want to put anyone at a disadvantage, but I think we're far enough along that it wouldn't be too bad. You can PM me though if you think that's an issue.

Thanks!

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

Yomons diplomats were just filthy spies, we have treated them as they deserved! By meaning peace, nation of Yomon ment to keep proud nation of Abysia as an obedient slave. That's why we've decided to revolt against Yomon's supremacy! Yomon is growing far too fast and taking lands which by no law should be under his dictatorship! Abysia won't allow this to happen, as we are weaker nation, with no huge income and powerful army like Yomon, we won't hesitate to use any forces, diplomatic or not, to end Yomon's Dominion!

krpeters August 2nd, 2007 07:20 AM

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

Big bad scary Ermor also happens to be killing off the population in 15 provinces that I would rather have... it's not his armies I fear, it's his Dominion. Which happens to be way up there too. Who decided to park Ermor's capital in the middle of nowhere so he could expand so massively? Or has he already eaten someone?

And what's up with Mictlan, only 3 provinces?

Your words are empty and without meaning, damned men of Jomon. We heard from the lords of Ulm that you betrayed them, whom had a non-aggression pact with YOU, and who were fighting the evergrowing threat of the undead of Ermor! This makes their path clear and just. Your betrayal now only makes it painfully clear to the free nations of the world that you are indeed not trustworthy and unworthy of anything but scorn. Unless you can, in the most unlikely of events, explain as to why you are committing such heinous acts of aggression towards people whom you claim to be at peace with.

Indeed, you accusing the Abysians for betrayal only makes you seem more devious and hypocritical when you do the exact same thing yourself! What do you have to say for yourselves?

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

We moved our mercenaries into an neutral province north of Ulm's forces on their last turn to get rid of them so no one else could hire them. Ulm happened to attack the same province. This was also before Ulm took us up on our offer of an NAP. They only lost 3 men.

Abysia's armies, however, poured across our borders.

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

There should be a movement command that goes something like "attack neutral territory but if another nation manages to attack that territory and win first in the same turn do not attack." That seems like it would clear up many diplomatic blunders, such as above.

I trust that Ermor will be wiping us off the map in a few years, if he continues growing unopposed like this!

Or players could choose to ignore minor border skirmishes... or use them as an excuse to attack if it makes them feel better.

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

It's funny that I made that comment earlier, because I just played my turn and Pangaea and I both attacked a province last turn, they did first, won, and then beat my troops.

They can have the province, and hopefully they understand I had no intention of attacking them. As they can see by the small size of the force I sent to take the province, I certainly had no intention of tangling with anything but independents.

As far as I am concerned there is still peace between Man and Pangaea, unless they deem otherwise.

I run into this too, since I am fairly conservative in the very early game. But yes, many players attack blindly even on the first turn, just rolling the dice. Especially if they have an awake Pretender. Sometimes this even works. In this game especially, with such tight confines for many of the nations, it was probably a good strategy.

As far as research, some nations are just naturally better at research. They may have really good researchers to recruit, awake Rainbow Mages, boosted magics scales, or all of the above.

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

The time has come for the Lord Magister of Man to make unavoidable decisions for his people. All neutral territories around Man have been taken. There were some remaining to the north, but the armies of Mictlan have conquered a line of territory preventing Man from reaching them.

In order to protect his people from being hemmed in, and noticing the rising power of many potential adversaries in the far east, the Lord Magister, though it pains him to do so, is forced to declare honorable war against the nation of Mictlan. Mictlan's army is a match for that of Man, Man is aware they have every chance of losing this conflict, and this decision hasn't been come to lightly. Proper respect will be shown to the fallen of Mictlan on the battlefield, and the proper rules and decorum of war shall be followed.

In dark times, no man can simply hole up in his keep and wait to be destroyed. Risks must be taken, hard choices must be made. The warriors of Chelms march toward destiny.

Bah, the foul land of Emor now spreads it's unholy disease across the realm of Jomon as well. The traitorous Abysia lead by the traitorous Hako, god of lies, will be punished by the people of Jomon, and then we shall drive the undead legions of Emor out as well.

We warn marignon that when Jomon falls, they will be next in line for the chopping block.

Re: Game: Star Fall (open)

After having this sit in the wrong thread for a day (due no doubt to my current level of exhaustion...)

Man would just like to say that so far all of their neighbors have proven honorable. Even Mictlan, with whom we are at war, has carried themselves with the utmost bravery and honor, and are tenaciously defending their territory with great skill and bravery. Pangaea and Midgard have been worthy neighbors as well.

Time will tell if the gibbering hordes of R'lyeh will content themselves with their watery empire of if they will decide to assault the beaches of Man.
