Pretender Death
I had a question about pretenders dying.
If I have a basic wyrm pretender, with no paths in magic, then is there any disadvantage to him dying? It seems like the only thing he would lose would be his afflictions. Jazzepi |
Re: Pretender Death
Well, you lose the time it takes to call him back, and he doesn't spread dominion until you do call him back. Other than that, though, I think you're right.
He might gain more afflictions in the process of dying than he loses by coming back, though. |
Re: Pretender Death
This is probably the best thing about a pathless pretender; Wyrms are especially great since their high regeneration gives them a much lower chance for battle wounds.

Re: Pretender Death
Another reason why the kraken is so great. Especially since it has the affliction heal ability.

Re: Pretender Death
Is it? What is the precise effect of regeneration on acquiring afflictions, does anyone know?
|
Re: Pretender Death
I'd suspected that. It seems to be something like 50% chance of afflictions (maybe as low as 25%) instead of 10%. Can anyone confirm with a quote and/or experimental data?

Re: Pretender Death
Creatures with regen are %80 less likely to get afflictions.
|
Re: Pretender Death
Varies with regeneration %. A lamia queen with a ring of regen and a monolith armor (regen 50+10+10=70%) is a lot less afflicted then a N4 blessed unit (regen 5% IIRC).

Re: Pretender Death
Aha! I suspected the 80% figure was wrong. For instance, Bogus the troll (10% regeneration?) picked up 4 afflictions before dying in a fight with my D9-blessed Blindfighters. Things like that happen commonly, which led me to suspect that the regen benefit is a lot less powerful than a D9 bless, ergo 80% is way too high.

Re: Pretender Death
Ok - but does anyone know what the exact mechanism is (if its not the 80% standard reduction for just having regeneration regardless of percentage)?
Following Kristoffer's example above, what would be the difference between N4 bless and 70% regeneration in terms of affliction probability? |
Re: Pretender Death
Nobody knows, tiddley pom.
(Actually they might do, I just felt possessed by the need to say that - it's from Winnie the Pooh.) |
