Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Hi,
This is another noob question. How can I get rid of my own global enchantment other than sending the caster to his own doom http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif ? |
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Cast the Astral 3 spell dispell. The chance of dispel is porportionate to the gem differance. See pages 87-88 in the manual, under global spells. It works the same way regardless of whether it's a friend or foe that cast the spell.

Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Yes... I've done that. Guess there is really no other way.

Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Suicide the caster in an enemy province works. Bad idea is it is your pretender or a unique hero, not so bad if it is a nation recruitable commander. Frankly, money is cheaper than gems...

Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
What did you do? Cast Burden of Time by misstake?

Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Yeah, you've got it right Ironhawk.
Basically (Dispel gems - 30 + d6) has to be greater than (Excess enchantment gems + d6). |
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
As well, a global gets +5 to the resistance of dispelling for each level of magic above the minimum in the spell's primary path.
... There is one other, unreliable way to dispel. Cast more globals, and hope one of them unseats what you've cast. You get a 1/5 chance of targeting the right global, and a 4/5 chance of not... If you've only got the one up, its worth trying. If, however, the other globals are all yours, its a likely waste of gems. |

BTW, dont try the "fill the global slots" metheod with Astral Corruption.
|
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
I basically have 5 globals going on and suiciding my caster isn't possible because the caster is my immobile treelord http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif |

Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
An theoretical way of committing suicide with immobile units is Faery Trod.
|
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
You'd need an enemy forest prov with strong defense to pull that off. Can't faery trod into the water, after all.
|
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Just trod and script retreat, dead tree (eventually).
|
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
You can also give him a flying carpet and off he goes.

Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
they're not immobile, so it should work AFAIK. Unless there is a new tag.

Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Funny story about trying to dispell my own spell:
Playing EA Mictlan and I've got Astral Corruption up. I've got a ridiculous blood income, so I figure I'll put up BoT and stick boots of youth on all my guys. I cast it with a vampire lord so that it won't be immediately dispelled due to a doom horror killing the caster (immortal vampire immediately respawns, keeps the enchantment up). . . . Oh crap, boots of youth don't protect against BoT . . . Double oh crap all my mages are old and dying like flies . . . Tripple oh crap, I not only have to get this caster all the way from my capital into enemy territory, I also have to get him out of my dominion which I've recently been pushing with blood sacrifices! So I get him all the way over to the edge of my (large) dominion, hemorrhaging mages the whole time. I tell him to attack the first enemy province he can reach...only to have my opponent coincidentally teleport in to attack the province from which I was attacking - inside my dominion! Stupid count now respawns all the way back at my capital. I get him all the way over to the edge *AGAIN* and attack as fast as possible - but the damn enemy PD makes a bad moral roll against the count's fear aura. OMFG WON'T THIS GUY DIE! Finally did kill him after that, having already lost most of my mages. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif |
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Thats very funny Baalz.
Sometimes I have found you can be too clever for your own good, at least I can. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif |
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
I have a n00b question... I was playing a big game the other day and my global enchantments were being dispelled when I cast a new one. I had 3 globals with one commander and when I tried to cast a fourth one one of the older ones would dispel and the new one would substitute it.... :S
1. Is there a limit to the amount of globals a nation can have? 2. Is there a limit to the amount of globals a commander can have? |
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
There is a cap of 5 globals total that can be up for all nations at any one time, are you running into that?
|
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
It would be great if when setting up a game you could specify 5 or 10 or 20 globals.
I think 5 is too low a cap given there are approx. 40'ish globals you can put up. Just think of the fun... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/stupid.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif Any chance at all this could be implemented in some way? I know Dom4 is unlikely but could Johan be persuaded to change it if possible for a future patch? |
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... ..
I see... I need to start reading the manual http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Another dispel question.... Can I dispel an enemy's global enchantment by casting it myself but with more gems? or do I need to dispel it first and then cast it?
|
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
You can just override it with more gems.
|
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
I CAN?
|
Re: Dispel Own Global Enchantment
Yes if you cast it with more gems than the original players yours will overtake his. (well the strenght of mages plays in as well, but lets not make it too confusing).
