Re: SE:V v1.56 History
hrm. How much longer until the official patch?

Re: SE:V v1.56 History
It was said it for this week.
BUT I WAIT, I ALWAIS WAIT!!!! |
Re: SE:V v1.56 History
It is time that the patch was released publically. The game has been virtually unplayable since the last patch broke movement orders several months ago. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

Re: SE:V v1.56 History
How were movement orders broken? There was really only the combat retreat issue that I could think of.
|
Re: SE:V v1.56 History
When you select two (2) or more ships and try and move them to a different system, it clears the order and doesn't move them. It got fixed... oooh, back in 1.54, I think.
|
Re: SE:V v1.56 History
That is only if you don't push the order button/hotkey before looking at the next system. Using fleets avoids the issue as well. The game is still playable, just with a bit more care.

"2. Fixed - AI was not operating correctly."
Glad that's fixed. Single Player should be great now. |
Re: SE:V v1.56 History
That's actually a reference to a fix for v1.55, which broke the AI. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Re: SE:V v1.56 History
I'm almost sorry for asking again, since the next patch seems to be really great... But I still can't play the game due to graphic errors. I had hoped for the 7.10 catalyst to fix my issues, but it didn't. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
I detailed out the problem here and also mailed a report to Malfador. To follow up, as soon as there is any 'layer' of controls or images 'above' the main game screen, everything goes black, which makes adjusting research and designing ships in effect impossible. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Any chance that it was fixed? *crossed thumbs* |

Re: SE:V v1.56 History
I'd rather not install 2k/xp drivers on a Vista machine. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
(They may actually work to some extent, but in my opinion that's just asking for more trouble.) |
Re: SE:V v1.56 History
I thought that this was supposed to be the week the patch came out, hopefully not much longer.

Re: SE:V v1.56 History
2k/XP video card drivers should fail spectacularly in Vista, what with the vastly altered graphics subsystem and all..
|
Re: SE:V v1.56 History
Forget Vista, it sucks, come back on XP!

Re: SE:V v1.56 History
While I'm not a Vista fan, it does have a bad reputation nowadays. In some circles Vista is known as Windows ME II. Some of it bad rep is deserved.
Imo the biggest problem with Vista is that while it's an ok operating system generally, it needed to be a "GREAT" operating system to draw consumers and business's alike, with one flavor or maybe two like XP. And it's not doing that. And not have OEM's like Dell offering XP or Linux. In the long term the microsoft monopoly still wins. If they sell XP or Vista, microsoft still gets their cash. Time is on their side as eventually you'll upgrade or buy a new pc and get Vista or whatever follows it. But for now they're not getting my cash. |

If I wanted a GREAT operating system, I'd install Gentoo (or *insertyourfavoritedistrotoavoidanyupcomingflamewa rs*). But that's not really the point... It's brand new machine, configured with Vista in mind. So, no, I'm not paying MS for XP, just to be able to play SE5 (the only game that had serious problems so far). I have a Dell laptop running Linux, so I wouldn't exactly call myself a MS fan. Still, I'm a SW developer, I need to see at least if my code works on Vista, or what generally goes on on the OS front. And, frankly, so far, I'm positively surprised by Vista (Premium - anything less is, indeed, ME II). My expectations HAVE been quite low, however. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Especially concerning games, aside from an odd glitch with WinSPMBT which was fixed by a driver update, NO problems or bugs at all. Also, Visual Studio.NET (and Eclipse, for that matter) runs and compiles like a beast, so all around, Vista does it's job. Back to the point... In my original thread, someone mentioned that this bug was in fact an old bug that somehow reappeared. That's why I asked if it may have been 'silently' fixed? |
Re: SE:V v1.56 History
Oh, if you are a SWdev, it changes everything...
testing requires multiple OS, including Vista (poor programmers!) |
