Is Mac patch 3.09 rather than 3.10?

Wondering if the patch up on the Shrapnel site is actually 3.10 or not. Seems like it may be 3.09:

- Version in start screen is listed as 3.09
- No 1900 x 1200 resolution available
- At least some 3.10 content listed in log not present: Formoria can't select monolith; Unmarked/giants cost 55/120 instead of 60/110

It looks to be that way. It's probably an artifact of the IW hardware crash, we only had a Mac 3.09 patch to playtest with, then 3.10 and it seems that the Mac patch got mixed up.

I'll take it up with IW if they aren't on it already. There's going to be a fairly major update to the shortlist in the next two days.

Yes, I'm playing on my Mac now, since my PC decided to burn up and die a horrible death. I'd certainly appreciate a current Mac patch, since I am involved in several MP games.

I have a Mac, too. I notice the same problems.

Also, the game shuts down if I try to play either of two MP games I am hosting that have mods (Conceptual Balance mod and Worthy Heroes mod). The games are BARK and HYDRANT.

Thanks.

Do you get the "Ngot gick fel! Bad armor for monster" crash? See the mod forum thread, probable culprit is that "Light Weight Scale Mail" became "Lightweight Scale Mail" in this patch and armor can't be assigned by number (which is going to get listed as a bug in the shortlist, because that lack is breaking things left and right and making things miserable for modders).

EDIT: Post #1976, which is the year I was born.

Are mac 3.09 clients having a problem connecting to 3.10 servers?

The Mac patch also makes my whole system re-boot occasionally, without warning. Rather disconcerting in the middle of a turn.

Something went a bit wrong with the mac patch and I'll look into it. But it shouldn't be any problems to mix 3.09 and 3.10 in multiplayer games.

Please don't spend too much time on my strange re-booting problem. I think it is only my old G4 that has that problem. I remember now that is why I switched to playing on my PC... Dom3 has always done that on my Mac.

I don't get any error message. The program simply closes. It does not do this with every game, just the 2 I mentioned. There are other games that I can continue to play.

What mods are active on those two games, do you remember?

Have you tried the fixed CB mod that Ferrosol (I think) sent you?

Hi lch:

Yes. I just tried the fix that Ferrosol sent. Now with 3.10, I can play the HYDRANT game, but still not the BARK game. (Also, I can no longer play the HYDRANT game with 3.08. BARK plays fine with 3.08.)

BARK plays with CB Mod Complete 1.0 & Heroes Mod 1.06.

HYDRANT plays with CB Mod Complete 1.01 & Heroes 1.07.

PS, I am leaving town on Saturday, in case I suddenly become unresponsive. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Is Mac patch 3.09 rather than 3.10?

There's probably something in the older mods that gets broken by the patch. I suggest copy-pasting the contents of 1.01 and 1.07 to replace the older contents, if people are having problems with them. That will fix the game, but to avoid problems, everyone in the game should do it. That's the benefit of being able to change mods in midgame just by altering the contents.

The "Light Weight Scale Mail" changes its name to "Lightweight Scale Mail" from 3.08 to 3.10 and "Claws of Cocytus" changes its name to "Claws of Kokytos". So you need a different version of your mods in 3.08 and in 3.10, with the only difference being these spellings corrections, otherwise they break. There is no backwards-compatibility.

Once again, Jurri solved the problem.

He just won the BARK game. So, I no longer need to fix the mod. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
