why does this make it unable to start a new game?
it crashes right away.

Run the game with the "-ddd" flag and look at the bottom of the text file produced.

You might have smartquotes in the file or something, can't see anything else wrong.

sounds good, really creates a story. So, I reckon there is a 4th faction you haven't listed above. once you finish this, you should let me know how hard modding was. I think you're coming at this all from a similar experinece level as I would be.

I assume you're using windows.

Right-click on the shortcut, go properties.

In the target box, add -ddd outside of the quotation marks at the end.
i.e. presumably:
"C:\Program Files\dominions3\dom3.exe" -ddd

This is also how you can create shortcuts to network games, for example Evermore:
"C:\Program Files\dominions3\dom3.exe" -C --ipadr 67.66.187.69 --port 10020

If you do, the output will be in stderr.txt in your game directory, too.

another question:
There is a command to make a nation start in a specific prov
there is a command to make a nation have a certain god
but how can I edit that god... it's not yet a commander I can edit in my .map file right? (items, name etc nothing fancy)

IIRC, when you choose the god it becomes the active commander, and you use the necessary commands just as if you had added a basic monster of that type as a commander.

normally I just enter commands for the commanders behind when I place them in the province.. I placed the god in a specific entry for the race.. should I put that all behind him there?

and on the crashing mod.. any idea's?

The active commander is active until another active commander is set with #god or some other command. So yes, it has to be before any commanders are defined.

No ideas, but are you sure the "" are in place?

ok now I have a new question..

as you could see I had 3 nations meant for the computer

in .dm file
--the church

so I wanted me and another comp.. AND then the 3 race I had already made.

when I start a game I only chose 2 players.. and then I automatically became the church..
so..
how do I set it up that those 3 comp players ARE ALWAYS in the game and are ALWAYS comp controlled.. any additinal players (usually 1 human and maybe 1-3 comp players (as the upcoming gangs challenging the forces (guard, church and king) already in the city

so either I would like to just select the number of players and have those in addition to church guard and king OR the first 3 should already be premade and not able to use as human in the menu.. HOW DO I DO THIS?

No quote around the unit number (158).

Only use quotes if you're using a name - or if your mod adds a unit *named* 158.

So..
#god 32 "Legionaire"
or
#god 32 1

ok thanks for that.. is that also true for known feature commands?

and can you help me with the question above? how I get those races to work apar from the quotes around the god number? I can't find how I should do that in the files

If the Church, King and the City Guard aren't available (i.e. in another era), you can't choose them and can't be given them as a nation.

Are you sure you started as that nation, not as another nation in their capital? That is, is province 58 marked as #nostart?

yes I think all province within the wall where marked nostart with the map editor (I must say.. I don't see that actual command anywhere how does the mapeditor use it?)

So basicly (as I asked in another thread) I MUST use the era those 3 nations I use as church king and cityguard are in? Could I place them in ALL era's then?

PS while checking on this I see a option for water races.. I guess I could disable them with a DM file with era 0 instead of enabling all other races right?

You could put all nations you want to allow in one era, or disallow the nations you don't want to be used. #era 0 all water nations, and the three special nations - that should work.

ah if I era 0 them that won't give a problem??

I feared that would give new errors because they wouldn't be allowed

I haven't actually tested that, but eras 1, 2 and 3 can coexist. If era 0 is identical, just left without a nation selection screen, it works fine.

yes it seems to work indeed becuase I started (no tried to start a few games and the error that should give didnt'pop up (others did though)

could you please help me in my "city based map" thread?

Edit: Aezeal has recently purchased Dominions 3 through our online store and has has asked to re-join our community. Please welcome him back and treat him as you would any other member. He will be starting a new thread with his questions about the mod he his creating. I hope you will give him your thoughtful input.
