An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and...
...struck <INSERT NAME OF 160 YR OLD CRONE HERE> in the heart!"
How do I stop the madness? I am losing a crone a turn to this, and 300 gold a turn isn't something I can afford to keep up. |
Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
The various domes would help I believe. Not to mention some will inflict retribution upon the caster. What are your available magic paths?

Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
You can throw other cheap indy commanders (scouts, etc) in there who will dilute the chances of a crone being picked.
You can also moves your crones out of your capital and scatter them to other labs. You can research forest/air dome to protect you from the arrows. You can cast gift of health to give your crones enough hit points to survive the arrow attacks. Jazzepi |
Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
You can give them robes of missile protection, amulets of luck (IIRC), a nice armor or transform them into stout drakes.

Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
Stout Drakes, the poor man's Portly Dragon.

Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
i'm not sure that armor helps anymore - it used to be that the arrows were AP, but now they are AN... which was a bit of an un-needed buff, IMO http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
I don't think arrows are all that powerful as it is the AN is needed IMHO. The best you can hope for is a chest wound on most SCs. Mid late game is full of counters.
Does anyone know is luck helps? |

anything... except magic duel, wish...dunno what else :-)
arrows are too powerful w/ AN... when they were only AP, they were still useful and used in MP. |

Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
Thanks for the responses guys. I was hoping for something easier than a dome, as they are hitting me in a lot of different provinces, but I guess I will concentrate them in one or two and cast domes. I've had this happen to me when I was playing Neifel and Lanka, but no real problems arose from them (GoH was active in both cases). This time, however, I am in the early game and have been getting hit by them pretty much since the game started. What a pain. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Humans are just too "squishy".

Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
Robe of missile protection works, give you 80% chance of negating the arrow and is quite cheap.
|
Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
hiring a bunch of scouts is also a good idea... you can never have too many scouts :-)

Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
A far as I can tell luck does not help against fatigue damage.

Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
Recruit a cheap commander with more hit points. The higher hit point unit will be targeted first,

Re: An arrow has suddely dropped from the sky and.
Not by seeking arrow.

I defer to the masters.
On the same topic, I haven't seen seeking arrow in quite some time. I also used to be plauged by it. Now the AI casts the (all but useless) remote eagle attack exclusively. I am wondering if this is a reflection of the difficulty setting that I'm playing? I've been playing the top two difficulty levels for some time. I cannot say that I noticed a relationship between the two as I moved up, but with hindsight there appears to be a correspondence. |

The difficulty setting does not matter on the spells being casted by the AI. |
