Feohtan - Game started! Uploading pretenders.

1 Attachment(s)
Patch v3.14 is out, and llamabeast has set the game up. We are good to go!

Once pretenders are uploaded, the first turn will be set to 48 hours, and then it will be 24-hour quickhost until at least Turn 20. Once three people request it, I can extend the quickhost to 48 hours.

With llamabeast's endorsement (and a big thank-you to him too!) in the Valhalla forums, I'm going to set up an EA game played on the Llamaserver. Shooting for 12 players--10 land + 2 water--so we can use my starting locations in Edi's Cradle map.

All setting standard, except Graphs Off and Renaming On (Note: there will be independents in this game, for those that know this map from Forseti.) Worthy Heroes v1.8 will be the only mod.

If you stale twice in a row without contacting me or posting in the thread, you will be put on AI immediately.

The map will be Edi's modified version of Cradle, to which I have added fixed starting positions, to prevent unbalanced random starts (as much as possible, anyways). Here are the changes I made to Edi's Cradle Map:
--The starting provinces are: 76 (Oceania or Atlantis), 78 (R'lyeh or Atlantis), 18, 38, 37, 103, 99, 207, 172, 196, 148, 131.
--All the land nations will be assigned random starts from the above list when the game begins.
--For start 37, provinces 37, 41, and 54 are no longer Waste, 41 becomes a Border Mountain, and 25 becomes a Forest.
--For start 38, provinces 38 and 39 are no longer Waste.
--For start 103, province 93 becomes a Forest as well as Farm, and 94 becomes a Border Mountain.

Let's get signed up, pretenders in, and have some fun!

IndyPendant January 21st, 2008 04:22 AM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

I've updated the original post to cover who's joined so far. We're halfway there! Still need two water nations, though.

Folket, I took Mictlan, sorry. Did you want to try another nation?

Valerius January 21st, 2008 05:09 AM

Only two land nations left! Hopefully Folket gets back with a new nation before two more sign up...

Jurri January 21st, 2008 04:04 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

I'll play! Let's say... Niefelheim.

Baalz January 21st, 2008 11:04 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Er, I'll play if Folket doesn't want to pick from the remaining nations, but by all means I'll bow out if he wants to play. Say Pangea...

IndyPendant January 22nd, 2008 01:06 AM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Well, I can't set anything up for another 12 hours or so. I want another look at the Cradle map before I hand it over to llamabeast.

Let's say we give Folket that much time to respond, and if he doesn't, Baalz is in! Either way, I'll be PM'ing llamabeast in half a day's time with the details.

Thrawn January 22nd, 2008 01:50 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

If anyone drops out, I'd be interested in Arco or T'ien.

IndyPendant January 22nd, 2008 02:01 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Thrawn, we'll make a note in case anyone doesn't upload a pretender. Folket, I'm sorry but you haven't gotten back to us to change your nation. Baalz, welcome to the game! (And...*yipe*. ; )

I've uploaded the .map file we'll be using in my original post above (I decided not to make any additional changes for now, other than those I have already listed). I have PM'd llamabeast to give him the specs for the game, and let him know we're ready to go!

WraithLord January 22nd, 2008 02:18 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

rumor says next patch is imminent. would it be a good idea to start the game with it and save all the hassle of upgrading while in game?

IndyPendant January 22nd, 2008 07:01 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Hmm...we could wait until Friday and see. I don't want to wait longer though, for risk of losing players. And for all we know, the new patch could wreck Worthy Heroes 1.8, although I suppose it's not a big deal to play without it.

llamabeast has already created the game, but it doesn't look right. It's currently saying "Invalid Age" and "Max Players: 0".

So unless people object, let's delay until Friday (or the patch comes out) before we start.

Jurri January 22nd, 2008 07:21 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

I'm fine with waiting until the patch: certainly it's always nicer to avoid patching midgame.

Aethyr January 22nd, 2008 11:24 PM

I agree

Re: Feohtan - Recruitment closed, start held for p

Yes, lets wait for the patch, its supposed to fix dominion spread, which hopefully fixes the scales bug and thats good because on 2 out of 2 test games with EA Rlyeh I got the scales bug!

WraithLord January 28th, 2008 07:31 AM

Re: Feohtan - Recruitment closed, start held for p

Ahmm, I'm starting to regret suggesting to wait for the patch.

The rumor was not accurate and the patch hasn't come last week . I'm now afraid if we keep on waiting that players will start to lose interest. I prefer the hassle of upgrading to new patch than the possibility of losing this game.

Meglobob January 28th, 2008 07:48 AM

Re: Feohtan - Recruitment closed, start held for p

Its being betatested at the moment, so it should be soon.

Means some bugs has been found by the beta group and fixed. They are testing the new version already. If only small bugs remain after this it will be shipped as is.

New Patch 3.14 out now so no problem! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Now we need an in-thread link to the map we'll be using and we're set!

Re: Feohtan - Recruitment closed, start held for p

Patch is out! I'll PM llamabeast again, asking him to restart the game. Hopefully everyone is still in! ; )

Keep in mind it may take him a few days; he's no-doubt going to be busy making sure llamaserver transfers safely to v3.14...

DryaUnda, the map is uploaded in the original post in this thread.

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Hmm, well llamabeast PM'd me and said everything's already set up and ready to go. It looks like we can start uploading pretenders now!

I'll edit the original post appropriately. I'm hoping for 2-3 days to upload pretenders, then I'll set the first turn to 48 hours, then 24 hours from then on.

Let's play! The world will drown in oceans of Blood. ; )

What is the procedure for uploading pretenders?

We're still using worthy heroes mod, yes?

Yes, according to first post.

IndyPendant January 29th, 2008 02:35 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

8 joined, 4 to go! Now all we're missing is:

Sauromatia - Digress
Fomoria - FAJ
Marverni - Aethyr
Vanheim - Valerius

And yes, we will be using the Worthy Heroes v1.8 mod.

FAJ January 29th, 2008 05:13 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

I sent my god to the e-mail address, with the name of the game in it. I don't know why I would be missing.

IndyPendant January 29th, 2008 05:58 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Ah, you aren't missing anymore. Your pretender was probably just received and updated after my post. No worries.

3 to go!

allrighty.... so when do we start?

IndyPendant February 1st, 2008 03:36 AM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Hmm...almost two days now, and llamabeast has made some other posts. That's not like him; maybe some wires got crossed or something.

I will *poke* him and see if anything happens.

llamabeast February 1st, 2008 05:25 AM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

*eep*, I seem to have been poked!

Sorry, I have been a naughty llama. I did actually get your first message but I think I was feeling flustered with work at the time (I probably shouldn't read my PMs *at* work, particularly when feeling flustered) and so it failed to record in my memory properly, if you know what I mean. I'm just teaching in a couple of hours so have to do some emergency marking (and in fact learning!), then I'll get on the case.

llamabeast February 1st, 2008 07:07 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Apologies for the further delay, I was a bad llama again.

However, the game has now started! Hopefully you'll all have received your first turns. The first turn has 48 hours on the clock, and subsequent turns will have 24 unless/until IndyPendant changes the timer.

Enjoy the game!

llamabeast February 1st, 2008 07:09 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Oops, did a restart, since the first time I hadn't set it up to use worthy heroes properly. Use the turn file from the second e-mail you receive.

WraithLord February 15th, 2008 11:49 AM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

This turn something very strange has happened to me.
I was attacked by Vanheim in one of my provinces. This is not surprising since we're at war. What I find very strange is that I was attacked at the heart of my kingdom in a province in which all the neighboring provinces are controlled by me. Of course, if the attacking army was the usual Van stuff I wouldn't have found it strange but that army contained, among else, eight elephants. Now, last time I checked elephants didn't have glamour, nor any stealth ability so I'm really puzzled. How come???

Jurri February 15th, 2008 12:09 PM

Re: Feohtan - EA game, Open

Sailing maybe? Or is the province completely inland?
