Do you mind enabling graphs?

Xavier March 5th, 2008 04:56 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

If you can convince 5 other players to ask for enabled graphs I'll enable them. I'll also edit the first post to indicate that's an option.

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Done. Starting to look like graphs will be on....

Kazoo March 6th, 2008 05:29 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

I would like to have Bogarus, if possible.

I am quite a noob and this would be my first MP Game. Is the procedure used for sending Pretender and Turns the same as the one described in the manual ?

I would prefer graph off but no problem with graph on.

Denisius March 6th, 2008 09:14 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Are we going to play with the new patch?

Hoplosternum March 6th, 2008 10:42 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Just curious but why do people NOT want scores on? I can see a slight point for ermor. They will have a huge army count compared to the rest and this may hurt them in Diplomacy. But they have trouble with diplomacy anyway due to their dominion.

But in general not being able to see the scores will just hinder diplomacy surely?

If I am losing and lack allies then let me be eliminated and spend my time on joining new games. If I am winning then let me press my advantage and give my opponents chance to unite against me to stop me. Why draw out this process by hiding how well people are doing?

cupido2 March 6th, 2008 10:45 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

If I'm allowed (I'm not so new anymore but quite harmless) I take Patala. Graphs on plz. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Real_friend March 6th, 2008 11:28 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Bogarus

Denisius March 6th, 2008 11:41 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Real_friend, Bogarus has already been taken by Kazoo.

Kyosti March 6th, 2008 11:59 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

I'd like Arcoscephale please. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I'm also a newbie.

Xavier March 6th, 2008 01:23 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

ok, updated the main page with signups. Will put the server up tonight (within 12 hours).

I'm giving Real_friend 12 hours from now to change his country selection and keep his spot as our 12th player. If we don't hear from him the next person to post a valid country selection (from now) will get his spot.

@Denisius: yes, we'll play with 3.15 from the start. So harass your other game hosts to patch http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

@Hoplosternum: you've pretty much got it, but not just to hamper diplomacy. It really changes the feel of the game. You take out another indy province and suddenly discover you're bordering on Caelum...but you have no idea how strong Caelum is, how much research they've finished, and so on. It also means that people don't know what global enchantments to be expecting, or whether all the artifacts will be gone by the time they hit con 8, because you can't see how other peoples research stacks up next to yours. And finally, it creates a neat situation where scouting information is really valuable, not just for yourself, but in diplomacy as well.

Xavier March 6th, 2008 01:26 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

oh yeah, and Kazoo: You just create your pretender under 'game tools' and then connect to the server and click on the nation you're playing.

Kazoo March 6th, 2008 01:33 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Thanks Xavier.

I am ok to give up Bogarus to Real_friend. I'd like to have Pythium, Serpent Cult instead, if possible.

Xavier March 6th, 2008 01:49 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

you sure?

p.s. I won't be back on here for a few hours...so assuming everything's sorted when I get back I'll just put the server up and you can do whatever you've decided.

Kazoo March 6th, 2008 01:53 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Yeah sure. Real_friend and I briefly discussed it in pm.

Xavier March 6th, 2008 03:14 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

ok. Updating front page now.

Unless 1 more person decides they'd rather have graphs on in the next 6-7 hours (basically, before I start the server), they will remain off.

Denisius March 6th, 2008 03:28 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Should this game be considered a newbie game?

Xavier March 6th, 2008 09:47 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Not sure...not everyone has volunteered how much experience they have. It's seems to be at least about 1/2 newbie, at any rate....

Metalking March 6th, 2008 10:28 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

This will be my first big MP game, played a couple 3 and 4 man games on a LAN, nothing really good though. So I am definitely newb level.

Xavier March 6th, 2008 10:40 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

UPLOAD PRETENDERS http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
and PLEASE don't forget to put passwords on your pretenders. Hopefully we'll be ready to start within 24 hours....

This is my second D3 game, though the first is still on turn 3. ButI played like 3 24h host games and probably a dozen blitz games of D2, 3-4 years ago.

Denisius March 7th, 2008 02:37 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

I've got some sort of problem connecting, i've posted a thread about it.

Xavier March 7th, 2008 03:28 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

hmm...well there's 4 other pretenders uploaded other than mine, so I'm pretty sure it's not the server.

are you behind a router or other firewall? i'll take a look at your other thread....

Denisius March 7th, 2008 07:45 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Xavier, it appears as if my copy is a pirated one. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

I'll reorder it, but it won't come soon enough for me to be able to play this game. Sorry.

Xavier March 7th, 2008 09:08 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Shame that...ok, I'll see if we can get someone to fill your spot.

In other news, if you had trouble connecting to the server at all it's fixed now. It went down last night for various reasons I don't feel like getting in to. It shouldn't happen again, but if it does I can swap in a different video card and it really won't happen again.

Don't ask, lol.

OoohSnap March 7th, 2008 09:37 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Xavier, please unupload the LA Ulm Pretender. I misclicked there by error http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif, I apologize for any troubles caused.

Xavier March 7th, 2008 09:53 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

done, no troubles.

if anyone had connection trouble in the last 60 seconds or so it's because i took the server down to delete that .2h file http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I *probably* could've deleted it with the server still running, but didn't want to chance it....

Evilhomer March 7th, 2008 12:28 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Sure, sign me and folket up (we will play a few weeks in turns). I will get back with nation in 1 hour or so.

Xavier March 7th, 2008 12:30 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

ok, as long as you guys are good on the transitions, so you don't come up stale.

post the nation here and then get the pretender up ASAP.

we have 8/12 pretenders up currently.

Xavier March 7th, 2008 07:24 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

just missing pretenders from Real_friend and Evilhomer/folket.

Xavier March 7th, 2008 11:08 PM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

i'm gonna give 16 more hours before I start the game with 10 (or 11), if I don't have those pretenders.

chrispedersen March 8th, 2008 02:16 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Xavier - Bogarus is new; even though Ryleh is strong. Mind if I swap out for it?

Xavier March 8th, 2008 03:10 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

If you can upload the pretender at ~2pm EST Saturday (13 hours from now), go ahead and I'll delete your R'lyeh pretender before I start the game. I say that because I want to give Real_friend as much time as possible to upload as possible. So don't upload much before that time....

Xavier March 8th, 2008 03:11 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

also, I'm considering the last spot open as Evilhomer said he'd be back with a nation within the hour and then didn't post within 15 hours.

Evilhomer March 8th, 2008 03:23 AM

Re: Vanilla LA - hosted [signup]

Yes, things was a bit crazy, but I will upload one without folkets consent unless I can find him rather soon.
