Let's do it! Who wants to host?
Okay, we have 12 players and Baalz is an alternate if someone drops out. Teams: TheNotoriousDoctorPraetorious, Hadrian II - Mictlan/Abysia Shovah32, Lingchih - Pythium/Marignon Foodstamp, Baalz - Ermor/Agartha Revolution, BigDisAwesome - Man/R'lyeh Peacekeeper, Aezeal - Patala/C'tis Kristoffer, Quantum Mechanic - Atlantis/Bogarus Introduce yourselves and start familiarizing yourselves with your nations if needbe. You can trade positions with other players if it is mutually agreeable. Themes: LOOK TO THE SKIES! - Man, R'lyeh IT'S COLD, THERE ARE WOLVES AFTER ME - Atlantis, Bogarus THE GIRLS ARE MINE - Mictlan, Abysia THE SUN ALSO SETS - Ermor, Agartha HOT LIZARD LOVE - Patala, C'tis WEAR SILLY HATS OR ELSE - Pythium, Marignon Following teams not in use http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif : HAVE STEEL, WILL TRAVEL - Ulm, Pangaea 1. DEATH MAGIC, 2. ?, 3. PROFIT! - Caelum, Utgard THE SUN ALSO RISES - T'ien Ch'i, Jomon PROCESS OF ELIMINATION - Midgard, Arcoscephale Team Assignment and Map: Players will be randomly assigned to teams, this means: a) Each player will be assigned to a team. b) Each team will have two players assigned to it. So both nation assignment and ally assignment is random. Or we could do fixed teams, if people prefer. Then, each team will be assigned to two nearby start locations, either by me or the host. Within each team, you can work out for yourselves who gets which nation and which start location. If we are doing random assignment like last time - you can name up to two people (SECRETLY PLEASE! SEND ME A PM!) with whom you do *not* wish to be paired. You can also specify two of the nation pairs above which you do *not* wish to play. I assume that we want LA R'lyeh (it isn't really a LA game without them!) so there will be water on the map. I will scatter start locations on that map before assigning teams, or teams to start locations. IP or E-mail: Right now I have 1 person who can't play via IP, and 2 who can't play via e-mail, so I think IP wins atm. Settings: Graphs Off, Renaming On, otherwise standard. Mods: We will use some kind of hotfix mod, as provided by Edi for v3.15. Even if we don't actually need it, it allows for fixes to be hot-patched in when new patches come out. Can Agartha bless their undead units right now? Other than hotfixes the mod will not make any changes. Players so Far: The Notorious Doctor Praetorious Shovah32 (prefers IP) Foodstamp Revolution Peacekeeper Hadrian II Kristoffer Quantum Mechanic Aezeal (declines Ermor, R'lyeh) Lingchih (IP only) Coobe (IP only) BigDisAwesome maybe.... ano? zeldor? llamabeast? lch? dryaUnda? real_fiend (e-mail only) whollaborg (e-mail only) |
Re: Late Era Team Game
I'm definitely interested. Haven't decided on which team I would like though.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
I like the idea very much but unfortunately two big games eat all my time.
Btw, I don't understand why you already divided nations into teams? If the purpose is to disallow "strong" alliances, it might be better to provide some restrictions. Or do I misunderstand something? |
Re: Late Era Team Game
This sounds like fun, count me in http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
I'd be very happy to host, if you'd like.

Re: Late Era Team Game
ano - there was much discussion of this in previous team games, and it was decided that this was the best way to balance it. The teams generally pair weaker nations with stronger ones, or pairs of average nations, and try to be somwhat respectful of the background story.
In previous games, people have been assigned to teams at random. Okay, llamabeast will host when we have a quorum. I'm not in any particular rush to start, but we don't want to wait so long that people forget about the game and lose interest http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif EDIT: Or lch can host http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. We'll put it up to a vote for PBEM vs IP. I'm completely agnostic on the subject. |
Re: Late Era Team Game
I will play, but not on a PBEM server. No offense Llamabeast, I just do not play PBEM. My reasons are complicated, and deal with receiving email on my Mac, but playing on my PC.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
In case you will solve to play on llamaserver, I would take bogarus. If you solve not - ignore this message, I have email access only.Any non-standard ports are firewalled, unfortunately.

Re: Late Era Team Game
Your awesome team names alone are enough to make me want to get in on this.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
I wish I had time to play that. I always wanted to try LA R'lyeh.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
if this aint a pbem i would love to join
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
Will teams be randomly assigned?
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
See update at root.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
id like to play. Either hosting option works for me.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
id like to play
i dont care if its ip or pbem. Random nation selection is fun, but is it possible that i wont get R'lyeh or Ermor? |
Re: Late Era Team Game
My vote is for ip. Random selection is fine, although I can see atleast three teams there I'd rather not play.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
Hi.
Since the debacle with my last game (loosing internet connection for some weeks) I think I would like to join a new game. My work peak is about to end and I will have less to do at school, meaning I will be less tired at home, meaning I will have more spare time, meaning I would like to join a game. It would be fun to play a team game. I hope I'm not exempt from team games, being a developer http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif I have no particular preferences regarding nation. Hand me one that is weak or boring, and I might find some inspiration for later patching. I have some thoughts on Jomon summons that might develop if I am confronted with them, but that holds true for other nations as well. At least it is likely that I take another look at the nations sprites http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif IP or PBEM is fine with me. |

Re: Late Era Team Game
If you aren't too concerned with winning then maybe we could team up? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
This sounds like an interesting game, I'd be up for playing.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
I'm more concerned with loosing. That is, I prefer to loose http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif If I win it takes a lot of time and I reach the micromanagement of the late game. If I loose I can do whatever I want http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
I wouldn't mind teaming up with you. Unless the distributiopn of factions is randomized. |
Re: Late Era Team Game
Team/nation assignment is hopefully clarified at root.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
I would like to play too (no ermor or rhyllus)
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
I guessed that assignment would be random, but I can still hope http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
Oh, sorry. Didn't read the whole stuff http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
Sign up for this wonderful game and hot women might sleep with you!
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
I'm like to play too. Don't have a preference nation or team wise.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
If the game is email, then i can join. If it's going to be IP - i cannot as two of the computers i am using have blocked ports that should interfere.
So count me in if it's email. |
Re: Late Era Team Game
Perhaps we need more of an eye-catching title to this game... like
"SUPER LATE AMAZING ERA ULTRA TEAM CHOWDER GAME" and you could add one of those cool little emoticon graphics as well. the late era team game title just blends in with the pack. |
Re: Late Era Team Game
thread title reminds me of this
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
Right now we appear to have *11* people. I think 12 would be perfect (easy for me to make the map, for one thing,) so we could add 1 more and have six teams arranged on spokes.
Assuming someone else signs up over the next few days, I'll make a 12-player/6-team map and post it, assign teams, give people some time to make pretenders and we can start this weekend? |
Re: Late Era Team Game
Sounds great. If one of the "maybe" people decide to play then that would be great - the sooner I find out who I'm paired with the better.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
So I just noticed this thread.
I'm in if it's not too late to join. Sounds like fun. I have no preferences on anything. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Late Era Team Game
If you need somebody to round out the roster I'll play, no worries if numbers are more convenient without me.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
Okay, we'll go with BDA (since he posted first http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif), and we can nag Baalz as an alternate if someone drops out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
hm, LA abysia, lets see how sacred smoulderghosts work http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
DrP, you are pure evil. Really.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
?
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
Maybe we will start 2 games http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ? One - IP (with teams of 2) and one - email , with, let's say with teams of 3. It defenitely another dimension, maybe some will take both games http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Late Era Team Game
K.O. and QM... ouch !
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
I assigned people to teams at random, which seemed fair - I tried to use the six strongest teams, so if anyone wants to trade for a team not-in-use, that's fine by me.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
And I'd be happy to put together an e-mail game with the same map, but I don't have time to do two of these games at once.
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
Here's the layout I'm aiming for.
There will be a body of water in the middle - R'lyeh will start in it. Man (R'lyehs ally) will start on the coast near R'lyeh. The amphibious nations (and Marignon, since it can sail) will start on the coast. That's Ermor, Patala, Mictlan and Atlantis, all of which have amphibious troops, and Marignon, which at least has boats. The other nations will start close to their allies, but towards the edge. This is a wheel-with-spokes arrangement that I think is fair, and helps to maximize conflict. I'm trying to avoid giving any of the six start positions an above average hinterland, and I'm trying to arrange all this without going above 250 provinces (that's a little over 20 per player.) |
Re: Late Era Team Game
Just don't set me (Pythium) too far from my ally Marignon. I have no interest in the sea, but don't want to be too far from him.

So we all agree to team up on KO and QM? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
|
Re: Late Era Team Game
Man I didn't know much LA nations.. but now I'm looking into patala and C'tis Im thinking my team has the 2 weakest nations in the age...
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif |
Re: Late Era Team Game
Patala has really high level magic, elephants and great summons. Ctis has banefire casters, decent troops and its best mages recruitable everywhere.
