OT: What\'s up with Austrians lately?

OK, now the latest Austrian pervert is an incestuous, pedophile, enslaving bigamist. Makes that Texan cult seem normal in comparison. What should be done to this guy? What a pity Austria is too "civilized" to have a death penalty! What would happen to him in an SEIV/V universe?

dmm, consider that crazy abusive people exist nearly everywhere - it's only when they get publicized that you hear about them.

It's simple; people that do things like that should simply be shot. Quick, clean (well... ok, a little messy), cheap and just. Works for me.

Re: OT: What\'s up with Austrians lately?

Well here in Australia we had reports of an old man and his daughter who had 3 kids, one of whom died from the sort of thing you get when relatives breed. I've even read there are some people who try to support people's rights to interbreed on the basis of what right does society have to judge people http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif.

I reserve the death penalty for first-degree murder.

Castration, however, is a definite possibility.

Its happening all over the world. Good people being trenched over by liberal backed pansy arse laws that do nothing but empower the perverts and weaken the liberties and rights of the most innocent while the weak in the knees cowardly leftists run and hide leaving others to suffer for them while they work to free the criminals, punish the innocent by passing laws that only adversely effect those who follow the laws, and work to erode commonsense thinking world wide.

Commonsense is so rate it should be listed as an endangered species.

I read the sentence for this will be 25 years. He is 73 now, so there is plenty of time to rehabilitate...

What makes me contemplative: The victims will need a new identity to be safe from journalists (or should I say: general public? ).

I dislike generalizing topics, I mean, one of them is Governor of California, if I recall correctly.

Re: OT: What\'s up with Austrians lately?

I realize crazy abusive people live everywhere. The reason I'm "picking on" Austrians is that a similar case in Austria was exposed less than a year ago. Except that the pervert in that case had abducted the girl. (Is that better, or worse?) When the girl (by then a woman) finally escaped after decades, the perv threw himself in front of a train. So with this new case, even Austrians are asking themselves, "Is there something in the water, or something wrong with our society, or what?"

Maybe you should just get to know your neighbors better. Say hello every once in a while! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

AT is right on the money again. Guns are illegal in Chicago, BUT there's been many killings there. (Please don't turn this into a gun control thread). I just mention this to verify AT's post about our lawmakers and the LAW's that they do make...

There are cameras being placed all over our cities these days to watch over us (Big Brother is Watching). All that money spent on cameras and not on police officers. I have yet to meet a camera that has stopped a crime. It will convict a criminal, BUT a police officer will prevent the crime. The police used to get into the communities and meet with the people they protect. Nowdays they are to busy enforcing BS laws that require their time and take them farther from the people whom they are supposed to protect. Thats why these stories end up in the news rather then a chance of being stopped before too much time passes for the victims!!! Lets wake up!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/mad.gif

Re: OT: What\'s up with Austrians lately?

Two cases of someone keeping a female (one stranger, on daughter) captive and having children with them? How many people live in Austria? Over eight million. Has anyone here ever visited their closest urban Superior Court and looked at the current cases being tried there, and noticed how many rape and child abuse cases there are at all times? Plenty of stomach-turning cases happen in every city all the time, even if you only look at the ones currently on trial. We had a program at our high school where some of us went and spent a week watching local court cases. The judge who hosted us was a nice guy... though a few years later it turned out that HE had been having relations with some young boys. Did anyone go "OMG this city is perv central; we need to do something about our judges and install cameras in all judges' robes!" Not that I remember, though probably some people did.

This seems to me like a great example of how the media can take a few exceptional cases and warp everyone's perception of reality. Or look at some place that actually has an clear cultural issue with detaining women for sexual purposes, like oh, Utah... maybe.

I'm going to have to agree with PvK on the media distortion issue. One story makes the news and people ignore the actual numbers.

Re: OT: What\'s up with Austrians lately?

The head of F1 racing recently got caught on video having an orgy with prostitutes. The theme of the party, "The Holocaust". Germans from what I've seen are stereotypically portrayed as rather kinky, with stories of German businessmen who have prostitutes wear leather and whip them, not that I make a habit of looking up such stories, it might not be limited to any one nationallity, and for all I know they are just writen to show the dichotomy with humourless German businessmen. That great social satire "European Road Trip" showed the difference between staid American and adventurous European morals. Of course that can hardly be considered a serious documentary on differing sensibilities. Europeans do have a rather wide spread reputation for loose inhibitions, not that I mean to be controversial but perhaps things are just too loose in Europe. As PvK said though you don't generally hear about the thousands of slightly less serious atrocities, the press preferring to concentrate on the peak. It is not correct to be stereotypical. I'm Catholic and all these abuse cases I hear about don't make me suspect every Priest I attend mass with. Also I was an altar server and nothing ever happened. Tasmania is only a sleepy little state though, no we just had the greatest shooting spree ever http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif. The place in Austria is only a little province as well I guess.

Re: OT: What\'s up with Austrians lately?

The story of the Ant and the Grasshopper is a broken Aesop.

There were an Ant and a Grasshopper. The Ant spent every day gathering fuel and food to store for winter, while the Grasshopper did nothing but carouse, drink and party. As winter approached the Ant went out to make sure he had enough food and fuel to survive the winter, while the Grasshopper slept in to get over his hangover. As said, winter was approaching and the days were getting colder. The Ant spent too long outside and caught pneumonia from which he died, so the Grasshopper broke into the Ant's house and survived the winter using his fire and eating his food.

...or alternatively, the Grasshopper moved to Acapulco.

Oh, I get it, thanks. Ya, I know, it's extremely ironic... just like reality often is... oh wait, that was reality. Quick, where's the meaning? Humans invent meanings to try to understand things, but they also get stuck in their own meanings, particularly by jumping to conclusions and reacting and drawing meanings way out of proportion to reality, so to speak.

Now, to figure out how to create a few sensational news stories with predictable overreactions to actually get people to do something worthwhile... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Re: OT: What\'s up with Austrians lately?

Over this last weekend at the beach the police did their jobs. It was aggravating yet refreshing at the same time. Some idiot camper brought beer out onto the area where we were all camped and then left an empty there for the police to find. This prompted a series of events that may have saved many lives. It is illegal to take alcohol out onto the sand, even if you are camped there. The police repeatedly came back to the camp site and as a result caught at lest two dozen teenagers and other hell raisers in the act of breaking the law. From fighting, DUI, stealing, to just acting dumb, arrests were made and tickets were issued. I have no doubts that these fine officers who managed to anger many of us with their unconstitutional searches of private property, did save lives. Do the means justify the out come, certainly not, but who can argue with the results. Lives saved, property protected, the laws enforced, our rights trampled upon. A good trade off in any book. (Yes I was being ironic in that last part. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

For the record, the head of F1 racing is British, of Nazi descent. He claimed the prostitutes were imitating generic prisoners, not concentration camp prisoners, and he was imitating a generic bad prison guard, not a Nazi. Uh, yeah. Tell us another one. So you're a law breaker, an adulterer, and a chauvinistic pig, but you're not a fascist? Well, OK then!!

Re: OT: What\'s up with Austrians lately?

I don't think anyone here is claiming to be a saint. That doesn't stop me from recoiling in horror at what some people have actually done.

And I realize that extremes of behavior like this are spread all over the world, and are relatively rare. That's why it was ultra-weird that Austria (not a hugely populous country) had two similar cases exposed in the last year. And they weren't copy-cats, so that's no explanation. Maybe it's fairly common in Austria to have basement bunkers, due to its location between NATO and Warsaw Pact during the Cold War?

PvK May 2nd, 2008 02:56 PM

Re: OT: What\'s up with Austrians lately?

Ya, the official population of Austria is only eight million or so, but NOW who knows? They could have swarms of bunker-concealed depraved minions just waiting for the right time to be released into the light of day!

Or maybe they are tunneling towards Vancouver Washington and may already be emerging to steal gas, hooch, and off-road sport vehicles to drive while intoxicated and without helmets and engage in fisticuffs and unmentionable fornication before ducking away unseen into their subterranean hit & run access chambers.

Beach parties were fun until the OR Forest service rules were passed prohibiting alcohol possession by everyone. Now they are after people for noise levels. They want to turn Sandlake into a resort / hotel / gambling complex and all the god damn Californians moving up to the area are *****ing about the noise level coming from the ORV park. If you move up next to an airport, knowing its an airport, how then can you ***** when air planes go over head? Simple, if your from California, you just spend your will into how.
