Mine Scrap/Self Destruct Bug
I'm playing a standard 1.41 simultaneous game, and I can't seem to self-destruct any of my mine fields. This is a serious issues, as I've maxed out my total number of mines and need to make room for new fields. Has anyone else seen this?
A message saying that the maximum units has been reached would be nice, too. |
Re: Mine Scrap/Self Destruct Bug
yes. only way to get rid of them is to have a friendly race sweep them, but that might mean they have to break their treay frist. you might be able to bring a ship in and use the 'fire on' command, but i have not tried that yet.

Does MM know about this bug? Can we get it fixed?

Re: Mine Scrap/Self Destruct Bug
Put one of your ships in each minefield and trade them to an enemy http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

If it leaves and reenters, it probably will be destroyed unless it can sweep all of the mines at once. |
Re: Mine Scrap/Self Destruct Bug
Can mines be recovered by a minelayer, to be relaunched elsewhere?

No.

Bummer. So much for that strategy....

I've tested it. When you hit the minesweeping button, it does not even register as an order when you go check what orders have been issued.

Oh, I've had fun with this bug. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon9.gif And I raised it on the Boards a few months ago...
Finding this out the hard way just about ruined a 3 month long PBEM game for me. Just wait until you try and launch fighters. Nice to know your carriers won't work now either. This darn thing needs to be fixed. |

But you can't launch fighters outside of combat and roam around your systems and to defend warppoints. Which I use them for a lot. This really makes you think twice about lauching those mines early in the game. Hopefully it will get fixed soon. Geoschmo |

Sweeping the sector you're already in is supposedly what the minesweeping order is for.
