Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Ooh, sign me up for Eriu please
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Yikes - why do people like playing with graphs off? It just means more MicroManagement for every player.
And not only that, but it always benefits the strongest player most. |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Sign me up for Jotunheim please.
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!

Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I really tried to resist signing up for this. Really tried to resist.....
But I must try Bandar Log, Haruman demands it! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I'll take Mictlan.
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
O Ryleh?
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
And I would have to agree about the graphs. When I started out I did not like them, but after a few MP games I've seen that they are really necessary to prevent runaway victories. Not that having graphs off will stop me from playing... =)

Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I'd like in as Ermor. I was like 15 or so turns into one of Ich's games as them when Gandalf's server went down. I'm intrigued and would like a chance to go a little farther.
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I would like Pythium please. I prefer graphs on but will play either way.

Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I'm really impressed with the speed this game filled up. It seems like the time for it has come indeed)
Three more issues: 1) I don't mind having graphs on. If people like it, no problem 2) We have 2 slots open and definitely need some water nation because there're many seas on the map. Maybe another map? Any suggestions? 3) There's a map issue that should be fixed - provinces with less than 3 neighbours should be marked with "nostart". Pasha promised to do that but I'm not sure if he has time now. We may do this by ourselves though. |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Well, if you'll have a utter noob (currently scarred of the one black candle he can see in kingmaker) I'd love to sign on as any water nation, as I said utter noob and I wouldn't be offended at all if you said no.

If you have time though, it would probably be preferable to hand-place the start positions. That is a bit time-consuming though. |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Well, maybe I'll do so when I have time. It's really better with the exception of easing heavy early rushes.
I don't know perl) Btw, if someone who knows it wrote a script for .map file processing, it would be great. Any language will be fine but I'm too busy and lazy to do it) |

Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I can write such a script. Should be a two minute job.
Where can I find this map? |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
@ano
Fair enough, and like I said not offended at all...*whimper* http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Anyway, good luck with the game all the same. |

Thanks) There're two .map files there. I think we'll use the one that has "no_sites" in the name |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
If you want me to change, I would happily play Oceania instead of Pythium.
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
No problem)
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I'm in if there is a slot open!
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I'll take C'tis (everything else is taken!),
IF there is a slot open still! |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Still room? I'll take Pythium.
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Well, I have largely written a program, but I just realised it doesn't differentiate between water and land provinces (I assume you meant less than three neighbours of the same land/sea type). By the way, do you really mean less than three, or "three or less"?
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Cool that you did it. I meant "two or less" but "three or less" will also be fine.
As for water provinces, I think, it's also doable, isn't it? |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Yeah, it's doable, I just thought I'd better stop cos I'm at work!
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
are we gonna use the worthy heroes mod Ano?
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I don't mind if nobody does.
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
If the script doesn't want to handle the water properly because of land connects, that much can be edited manually in just a few minutes. Yes, I am volunteering myself, if that's what you're going to ask. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Yes, this can be done manually, but llama's script will be a very useful tool once he finishes it. For now, yes, we may even assign starting provinces manually.
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Tried to specify starting locations but ran into the following problem:
Is it possible to specify a set of possible starting locations from which starting location for specific nation will be chosen? #specstart should have 2 params to work: nation number and province number. What should I do if I don't want to link starting location to specific nation? If it is possible in no way other than marking each province out of this set with #nostart, I really don't like it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Well, it's likely a much more complicated script, but it would be interesting if it could be automated in such a way as to make fair and balanced (static) start positions. So, it would eliminate all territories with 3 or less connections, then determine loosely (based on a specified number of nations) the average spacing to make them all roughly equidistant, and especially to insure that all capitals are at least 3 provinces from eachother. I am sure this is far too complicated for anyone to just sit down for 15 minutes and bang out, so it's just wishful thinking, but it sounds neat. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif I mean once it was doing all that, it could probably even go down the list based on number of connections, so it would look at say, provinces with 7 neighbors, and see how many could work together as capitals, and then fill the rest of the list with 6 neighbor spots if possible.
Forgive my blathering, I am much better at speaking and typing, than programming. Well, I'm much better at just everything other than programming..... but I don't hold it against myself. >.> |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I assume it will be posted here when the map is ready?
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
Yes, it will.
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
So, I've made changes to the map and specified the starting provinces. Obviously, some of them are better and some are worse but I spent more than an hour trying to make everyone happy http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
Here're the starting provinces numbers: 5, 121, 64, 262, 264, 18, 90, 130, 196, 243, 23, 241, 238, 151, 62, 53, 123. I PM'ed llamabeast so hopefully the game will soon be created. You may get the map from attachment in the first post and the mods from the links. |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
For the worthy Heroes Mod, is it the one in the first post of that thread??
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I provided a link to the discussion thread for those who don't know what it is (including myself http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif). The mod itself is an attachment to the first post in that thread.

Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I noticed that version 1.8 is rather old. Does anyone know if WH works well with the latest patch?
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
I'm playing in a couple games right now that have the WH mod and it seems to work fine with the patch
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
WH doesn't add/change too much, it seems to be really stable.
Is there a deadline on pretenders? I tend to like to run test builds up until the last minute, it's half the fun for me. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
could someone post a zipped version of the map? I dont have a rar undoer.
|
Re: Stasis- MA game (open). Sign up!
You may find the zips in discussion thread. The difference is only in starting locations I've listed above.
