Sneaked moose??
Just found out that Jotun moose riders have sneak.
I tried to imagine this and couldn't http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. Sneaking mooses are a nonsense!) Imagine a big Pythian city where suddenly arrives a herd of moose and guards don't see them. Actually noone does) Moose herds make perfect raiders. They unexpectedly attack villages and then gallop back to the forests. Also moose may live in your village for weeks or months and you won't see them because they are masters of sneaking. You are actually more likely to notice a group of 20 cloaked wardens than a herd of 10 moose http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif How do you see it? ps. Beware! Moose are near!!! |

Well it makes sense in Alaska or Sweden.
Seems to me all animals should have stealth but only in terrain they have survival for. |
Re: Sneaked moose??
Its magic. Just magic.

Re: Sneaked moose??
Moose when you can see them, Meese when you can't.
Meese are related to mice. So now you know how they sneak up on you. |
Re: Sneaked moose??
Moose are sneaky animals. Let me quote the thirteenth Rune of Kalevala:
Thereupon the Hisi-reindeer, Juutas-moose with branching antlers, Fleetly ran through fen and forest, Over Lapland's hills and valleys, Through the open fields and court-yards, Through the penthouse doors and gate-ways, In the court-yards of Pohyola, Lapland-dogs began their barking, Lapland-children cried in terror, Lapland-women roared with laughter, And the Lapland-heroes shouted. Fleetly followed Lemminkainen, Followed fast, and followed faster, Hastened on behind the wild-moose, Over swamps and through the woodlands, Over snow-fields vast and pathless, Over high uprising mountains, Fire out-shooting from his runners, Smoke arising from his snow-cane: Could not hear the wild-moose bounding, Could not sight the flying fleet-foot; Now the hero, on his snow-shoes, Hastens to the distant woodlands, There to hunt the moose of Piru. In the end, the moose is caught after it raids a province and the local populace is roused to hunt it (i.e. PD and commander catch the moose in a fight). And no, the women aren't lamenting. Moose-riding vaetti come to raid a village, and the women - roared with laughter? Now that's something to make a Finn proud. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif |
Re: Sneaked moose??
Lemminkainen was overrated.

BUT actually, I think the idea is that the Vaetti are SO sneaky, that if anyone actually saw the meeses, they would just say "hey look, a herd of meeses", rather than getting all upset that the weird part is the little goblins riding around on them. So it stands to reason: no goblins - no "moose riders". |
Re: Sneaked moose??
Ahh, the Kalevala. I must read it again. Such fine tales. I haven't read it in probably 15 years or so, but it is sitting out on my bookshelf, calling me. Lemminkainen, Vainimoinen, Kullervo. Such great heroes and villains.

Re: Sneaked moose??
There are several online editions-I found them by wikifying Kalevala-if anyone's interested. I don't currently possess a copy, and I don't think my dad does, either, but eventually I'll have to add it to the family library.

Re: Sneaked moose??
They don't actually enter the city, they just wander around the nature surrounding the villages of the province.
The reason they can sneak but say, wolves, can't, is because the wolves aren't smart enough to manage themselves, they all follow the wolfherd, and if all of them are around the wolfherd, you'll notice that huge herd of wolves. The moose riders have their riders to control them, and so they can split up and wander around independently. |
Re: Sneaked moose??
You just don't read it correctly: it's not "moose", but "mouse"...
Alrgiht, it is VERY BAD... I leave... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif |
Re: Sneaked moose??
Well, anybody who wishes can tell hunters that moose are easy to catch... They probably would be quite willing to let you demostrate them this. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

Re: Sneaked moose??
Nevertheless, in this game thouse mooses are huge. and everyone knows that they are vaetti-carriers)
I suppose that there is situation like with grigorii everyone is trying not to see them. just a little hope that they are the mirage) |
Re: Sneaked moose??
How many of you have actually seen a moose?
There are a couple of hundred thoudsands of them here in Sweden and about 9 million humans. I've seen plenty more humans than meese http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |
Re: Sneaked moose??
Imagine how surprised you'll be when you occasionally see one! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Moose can't pass unseen)

I have seen a moose in the wild. I even have a photo. They are sneaky for their size, and did not raise any suspicions that I might be about to be attacked by goblins! There are many more elk than moose around here though.

Re: Sneaked moose??
Agrajag - how many meese are there in that picture?

Re: Sneaked moose??
Snooked by meese!
I can honestly say that I have never spotted a single moose in the wild. I know, the skeptics will point out that I live in Kansas , but those sneaky boogers have just eluded the naturalists for centuries in these parts. I also spent several years working in Florida, Alabama and even in the mountains of West Virginia and in that time I spotted more alligators and bears than meeses (or goblins). In an attempt to catch one of the sneaky devils I feel it is my duty to place a special device in this thread. Hopefully we will awake in the morning to find the carcass one of these elusive creatures so that we may study it and learn more of the madness that is the sneaking moose: ****MOOSE TRAP**** http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/carrot.gif |
Re: Sneaked moose??
This thread is getting silly.
Although, I have seen a moose in the wild. From about 30 feet away. I came upon one while fishing a creek in the Yellowstone mountains. And though she was quite as surprised to see me as I was her, I beat a hasty retreat. Moose are Huge! |

Just a warning: This is not for the weak stomached people.
Actual sneaking moose was found (and shot) only two kilometers from the center of Finland's capital Helsinki by local PD (police department, silly) just today. Battle replay is available in video format. Notice how sneaky the moose can be. Ergo, meese do sneak. |
Re: Sneaked moose??
Moose are very common here, but for their numbers, they are rarely seen. Often heard, though, running away when they hear you approaching, but they are hard enough to catch sight of most of the time. Not that I particularly fancy the idea of running into a fullgrown moose in the wild. They can be ornery, dangerous buggers.

I have seen moose in the wild couple of times. I once sit in a car for over an hour because there was a mating time going and a moose bull wouldn't leave the yard. If I tried to open the car door, it would charge in. Our driver had gone to open the cottage door and we stayed in the car to pack and grab all the stuff. The moose just came out of nowhere, sneeky ba***rd. |
