Hi together,

after public incitement from Llama to make a new thread and start a newbie game by myself ... here we go http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif

So who want to play with me in my first mp game ? I would prefer bloody newbies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif like me but everybody is welcome

Ohh, Niefenheim is much weaker in CBM, I wanted to play niefelheim but not in this mod, on second thought I'm out.

You might have played an older version. There was a bug that made niefel giants non-sacred, that is gone.

Would it be better to play a vanilla game ? I looked around (here in the mp forum) and noticed that most games are cbm games, so i decided to use it too.

@Executor ... still out with the new cbm version ?

I recommend PMing Executor, as he's unlikely to read the thread again having dropped out.

I'd say about one third of games use CBM. There's a lot to be said for it though, and the proportion is increasing.

I will stay with CBM ... as a newbie i don't really have a clue which settings or mods to use ... after random clicking some forum games here i decided that CBM would be a good choice ... so be it ;-)

Yeah, I think your choices of settings are all good.

Another suggestion I might suggest would be to use a version of Parganos I made which has "dead seas", i.e. you can conquer the seas as normal, but they give no income or gems. This is quite good I think as it basically makes it a pure land game, with the seas as strategic obstacles. Completely up to you though of course.

Sounds good ... so a question to the so far involved players ... want to use that map ? ... If yes i will change it in the settings, if someone don't want it, we will use the standard one.

Ohh, my apology's, never played CBM, looking at readme now and there are some thing I dislike with Hinnom in CBM but there are many more thing that are really really good, example blood magic.

Whether you use dead seas or not, I would definitely use one of the parganos_llama maps. The base Parganos map is pretty unbalanced - it always ends up with one player having nothing but swamps, and another nothing but farmland.

Good to see this game is filling up fast. Only one to go I think!

There must be for sure someone ...
- too shy to register for this game -> have the heart to do it !
or
-not sure if his/her partner allows it -> remember ... your partner is happy when you are happy (playing dom3) ;-)
or
- without enough free time to play -> free time is something YOU can arrange
or
- without the right motivation to start a time intense game -> once in you won't regret it

What information do you need exactly?
So far you just need to pick a nation not already chosen, and then send in your pretender so the game can start and I can kill everybody and win of course!

Don't forget- pretenders need to be made with CB on if you want to be 100% sure they will work in a CB game.

Extract in the "Mods" folder, then enable the CBM mod in the preferences selection of the game menu.

When you're done with nation selection go to game tools and create a pretender ( keep in mind that you need to have CBM active as radiogibbon said )
Then send your pretender, when the game is set up.
The pretender is located in savegame/newlords,
it should say early_your nation_0.2 file just send that and put the game name in subject, that's about it I think!

Great ... the 8th player ... but we have a little prob with the chosen nation. The map we want to play has 8 starting points for non-water nations and 1 for water nations ...

should we now wait for another player :-( ... hope that Eldanesh would also play a non-water nation or start it anyway ?

I know where it is, I'm looking for a challenge here.I normally don't play EA so I might as well play a magic nation.
Start it anyway, but I'm gone for today so you won't get my upload till Sunday.

ok ... game is created ... i didn't used the fixed starting points version, so it doesn't matter if with water nation or without ...

now Gentleman ... upload your pretenders !

here is the Howto from llamaserver faq :

- Make sure you have the same mods enabled as the game you're playing in (Preferences->Mod Preferences) although only mods affecting pretender design, such as Conceptual Balance, actually matter
- Go to Game Tools -> Create a pretender god in Dominions. Don't set a password, since for PBEM games they're not helpful and occasionally annoying (e.g. if you need a sub)
- Go to the savedgames/newlords folder in the dominions directory, and find your pretender file (e.g. mid_pythium_0.2h)
- E-mail the file to: pretenders[ at ]llamaserver[ dot ]net
- Crucially, you must have the game name in the subject line of your e-mail

A few minutes later you should get a confirmation e-mail, and if you check the website you should find your nation added to the list of nations which have joined the game.

If later you think of an improvement to your pretender, you can send it in again. Provided the game hasn't actually started the server will accept your revised pretender, and send you an e-mail to say so.

@GrudgeBringer .... i'm very sorry. I forgot to add you to the player list ... but, with you back in the game it is perfect ... so we can use llama's map with fixed starting positions ( 8 land and 1 sea ) !!! Excellent ... i added you to the thread and altered the game settings

@DakaSha ... as mentioned to GrudgeBringe we will use the llama's map with fixed position and without dead seas ( guess that would be unfair Ryl'eh in game )
