These lines are part of my dominions 3000 nation, Galactic Ulm

I get the spells in the books and I can cast the summonings. Then my problems begin

'1. the first creature I can summon with the correct pic, but it can only change shape to the LAST (S.T.O.R.M. of his intended 3 other forms and back. I recall that one dom 3 creatures do have more than 2 forms and I think I once got that to work --> What am I doing wrong?

2. the 2nd creature (upgrade weather droid) and another problem: while he has the same lines for all his sprites (the same as the first creature which appears correct) he appears as some sort of centurion creature with standard human stats. He does have the shape change command and he also changes to the last creature in the list (with acid storm one battle spell) and then he does have the correct sprite.

What is the cause of this?

I'm not sure why it's not working Aezeal, it should, from what I can tell. Are you certain the creature numbers you're using aren't already assigned? That's the only thing I can think of...I hope you get it solved though, because I plan to make use of cyclical shapechanges too.

Hmm being already assigned could be the reason that I get the wrong pic.. I guess I could clear it.. but there shouldn't be sprites and stiff assigned on numbers 2600 + right?

still doesn't explain why the shape change thing doesn't work though.

Ah I found my mod that somewhat worked..

there I go from a--> b --> c ---> d ---> e and then back to d and then e etc
it's cause I've not given the LAST one a change beck to first order.

I think that going circular is the problem (the guide seems to imply it)
Still tehre are units in the game with multiple forms right?

The centurion commander is the one that appears when there is an error in the creature number. I am very familiar with it, and it is always associated with a typo on my part.

Well could you point out the error then, the spells as I had them are all above.. nothing more is associated I think.

I cannot find an error with unitnumbers myself

I checked 3 times and couldn't find it. Maybe it is a spacing mistake or something else in the dm file that is being corrected by the copy/paste to post it. If you upload the dm file I'll look at it and see if I can find it.

The centurion type you get with bad numbers has a nice sprite and real crappy stats.

Well I'm not getting the centurion anymore now I've copy pasted the first droid and then edited unit number, name, descrp and shapeshift command.. (which was what I did in the first place and IMHO it's exactly the same as it was)

anyway that works.

the shapeshifting is weird though
my first droid Weather control can now go
shape a --> b --> c --> d
just by leaving out the last shapeshif command.. but that means it can't return to first form (which the skratti can do.. how..)

I'm experimenting with my 2nd droid (atmospheric control) and it gives all sort of funny things but none very logical.

Honey Badger:
a first good result for those wanting cyclical shapeshifting:
if you just make 4 forms after eachother which shapeshift each to the next and then END with a #firstshape back to the first this will work.

Of course #firstshape takes a turn so you can't go round and round in the same turn (if you overshoot your shifting you'll be stuck for a turn.. or you have to quit w/o saving and redo it.) all in all this good, and punishes those not completely focussed :D, but not quite like the skratti yet.

ALSO I think I might be on the real solution ... soon to follow.. keep tuned.

ow man this is totally ridiculous.. that command has some serious issues :D

fun to try it all but a bit frustrating it never does as you expect

I reorganised the order in which the units I used to cycle through where in the file
(so I wanted to go a --> b --> c --> d --> e --> f --> and if I did that it would just go a --> f --> a)
now I let them keep the same orders but put the units in the file
a
f
e
d
c
b
a
what it does then it lets you go backward just like they are in these
so yo start with a --> f --> e --> d --> c --> b --> a and then --> b --> a
while a actually DOESN"T link to f at all,, and F not to e etc etc etc. very strange.)

Amos, yes I can get it to go back and forth between the last 2 of the list, and I guess I could also just use the #firstshape command like I said above.. but the Jotun Skratti works.. why can't we get it to work as it should?

well it's not completely solved.. the firstshape solution is really not ideal.. though it'll work I guess..

I tried a whole lot of options last hour but none give the desired result

Well this is it.. I've tried everything I could think of so far and I'm using firstshape to get back to my first shape. It's the best I could get.
