Official Forum Bug Thread

This thread is for bugs only. If you encounter broken, existing functionality please post it in this thread. If someone has already posted in this thread the same issue you are experience, please don't duplicate report. OT posts will be removed.

Current bugs:
Broken Links-we have a tool that will hopefully help fix the broken links issue. It's a relatively new third party tool that we haven't be able to test so we can't guarantee it will work but we are making every effort. It is serve intensive so again, scheduled for over the weekend for minimal user impact.

Fixed bugs:
Auto logout and new thread indicator issue changed to allow this functionality to be controlled via the database rather than cookie/session time outs fixing the issue that some users were experiencing.
Polls attached to correct poll threads.
New users who had posts attached to wrong users
Ability to upload images in signature
Search Index
Broken Links in Social Bookmarks

Not bugs, but changes we have made:
Removed animated post icons
Moved all but one animated smilie off main smilie box
Altered vbulletin code to allow a larger font size in the basic editor
Raised PM limits
Put in a compromise solution on editing (see new announcement, will be posted soon)
Added more options on how many posts in a thread you can view on one page, user configurable in usercp.
Expanded the amount of threads viewable on the front page of forum to 35 threads. This is actually more than the old forum because it doesn't take stickies into consideration in that number anymore.

I will try to update this post as things are fixed or changed.

Search Index has been rebuilt so searches should now work correctly.

Re: Official Forum Bug Thread

Auto saving of sent PMs has been unchecked by default now to help people control the number of PMs they are saving as per a user request. So now if you want to save a copy of your outgoing message in your sent folder, you must click the button at the bottom of your new PM under Miscellaneous options to do so.

Users now have the option to use various formats for date and time.

To change your settings go to:

User CP-->Edit Options-->Date and Time Options-->Date Format
User CP-->Edit Options-->Date and Time Options-->Time Format

Not a bug per se, but we removed the think blue box line that was around avatars. I don't remember who requested it, but it's gone now.

Re: Official Forum Bug Thread

All posts have suddenly become unread. I only have bold posts everywhere.

Can this have something to do with me using another computer from the same IP simultaneously and reading the forum without loggin in? (one comp logged in and one not)

THe green dot for unread posts rarely seems to work, or update. Posts also remain bold for some time after I have read them. At least compared to the old forum. In the old one it only happened occasionally. Now it seems to be the norm :)

No, it's due to a reset of some forum parameters to mitigate the autologout problem. See the moderator forum reply to you on another thing.

Flash Chat, minor bug

Under Firefox 3, if I click the down arrow right of Quick Links only the first row of the table of likns displays. The other rows seem to be hidden by the Chat View.

In trying to respond to a lengthy PM the site shrinks down all text to microscopic levels. Changing the font size in the PM window does nothing. See below screenshot.

...and then it didn't do it again when I went back in to reply after posting about it here. So maybe it's just something really spotty.

Re: Official Forum Bug Thread

Could that be because of your browser settings or something in your user profile? I've never had that problem and if it was my PM you are referring to, I didn't experience anything like that this time either despite the quotes.

Re: Official Forum Bug Thread

Something about titles that I noticed while adding thread prefixes just now which probably has occurred during the site conversion:

Single quotation marks and double quotation marks have been escaped by backslash now. In case of double quotation marks, this makes input boxes chop off the rest of a thread title when you edit / reply to posts.

If possible, please remove the added backslashes again. If you add quotation marks in thread/topic titles now, then they're correctly being carried over, no such troubles.

Yep, we already know about this as well as some bbcode issues. Richard worked on part of it over the weekend but it's a long process because his cleanup scripts has to go through every post......brings the site to a crrrraaawwwwwlllll. It continues to be worked on though.

Polls should now be attached to the correct poll threads.

I still can't search through the internal forums / moderator forums, in case that this slipped under the radar.

Re: Official Forum Bug Thread

When we first moved over here threads that I didn't read would be marked as read after a single visit. Now they stay marked as unread days later. Is this a bug or a default setting that was changed. If it is a setting where can I find it to change it back. All these threads marked as being unread are getting crazy.

Re: Official Forum Bug Thread

It's a setting change because of the autologout problem. Threads will stay greenlighted until you read them or use the "Mark This Forum Read" forum tool on a given forum. Note that using it on a forum with subforums will also mark the subforums read. It does not seem to work in the press releases forum because that has so many subforums. Some forums may show as having new posts even if you have read everything new in there and in its subforums (the moderator forum, for example, shows this behavior).

If you use the "Mark forums read" on the main index, it will mark everything as being read. Just learn to use and love those forum tools. Makes life so much easier.

Re: Official Forum Bug Thread

Just a quick question.

The forum tools has a Mark this forum read" choice. Is that the entire forum?

What do I do if I want to mark an inane or annoying thread as "read"? The only purpose of this is to get rid of the bold lettering on a thread that indicates that it is unread. I often open threads just to get rid of the bold lettering, the sight of which bothers me. That may be a sign of some shortcomings on my part (a discussion topic that would probably require its own forum) but still a minor issue for me.

Re: Official Forum Bug Thread

I don't believe that it is currently possible, but it would be a nice feature. Especially if you could mark it as read without actually adding to the "views" count for that thread. :)

An "Ignore this thread" would be nice as well, although as a moderator it would probably not be proper for me to use it in the dominions forums.
