Posting Mods

I checked around the site and couldn't figure out how to post mods. Can anyone please help me? Thanks.

Re: Posting Mods

You can start a thread here, as well as post in The SE4 Mod archive.

To actually upload the files, just below your password box is the Attachment field.
Click "Upload your files", and the attachment field will be filled in automatically.

Be sure to compress it in a common format, such as ZIP. Otherwise, it will take forever for modem Users to download.

Re: Posting Mods

Ok, I tried that again, but I kept on getting an Invalid attachment message. When I hit upload now, a "bunch of numbers.txt" file shows up in the attachment field, even though I'm loading a .zip file. I wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Re: Posting Mods

That's what happened to me, and it worked. Try posting with that in the field, see what happens.

Re: Posting Mods

The "bunch of numbers" attachment is for the cases where you upload multiple files.
The bunch of numbers just points to which of your files you are attaching, and its perfectly normal.

"Invalid attachment" probably means your upload got corrupted.

Just to check: you are uploading a nice .ZIP or some similar archive, rather than individual files, right?

Right I'm trying to post a zip and a txt file. By the way, I really appreciate the help.

I don't see that your upload worked, thubar2000. Please make sure that you're not hitting "Close" on the upload window - it might take a while to close on its own, but if you close it, it won't go though. However, it does work...

Re: Posting Mods

About the upload manager:

for me, I upload my files, and when they are done, it changes to a blank white window. I "X" it and my files usually work.

Before, it would change to a "upload successful" message with close as the only option.

Re: Posting Mods

The close button! I'm hitting close, because I didn't know that it was supposed to close on its own. Doh!

Excellent, it worked.

Re: Posting Mods

In the Last two days, I have had three attempts to upload a large (7.8M) .zip file fail. The upload proceeds merrily along, but shortly after the total bytes sent passes the point where the upload should be finished; an error box pops up saying "File contains no data." (This is the same error the Shrapnel home page gives me whenever I try to take the poll.) After I close the error box, bytes continue to flow as if it were still uploading, until I close the Upload box and cancel the post. Any ideas?

[edit] Finally got it to work by changing browsers. Apparently the problems I'm having are related to the site being "optimized" for IE, while I prefer using an older Version of Netscape.
