If you hadn't explained that it was a hoax, I might have vomited before I realized how outlandish it was.

I love the background on your games :)

Sadly I must restrain myself, I go on holidays in 7 weeks and am already feeling guilty at the number of subs I'll need to ask for

do you have a link to the map? or Twan's MoD mod - I can't find either of these in a cursory examination of the maps list or the mods list?

I'd like MA Pangaea, please.

Re: BonsaiKitten - MA game for ppl who feel constricted

Twan's MoD mod is no longer needed since developers fixed the BF+retreat exploit in 3.20. Now when caster leaves the battle (for whatever reason), BF ends. Also CBM 1.3 includes WH 1.8 (most of it anyway, the only thing I see missing are the two weapons used by gladiator hero).

I don't know if something is wrong with llamaserver, but i have send in my pretender without getting any confirmation. But it appears rlyeh has been uploaded on the game list, so i am assuming everything is alright..

Hadrian_II October 9th, 2008 01:07 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

i did not get confirmation either, seems a problem with llamaserver.

Omnirizon October 9th, 2008 02:50 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

yeah. i've noticed the same thing.

it's comforting to get that confirmation notice, but it seems to be working all the same

As long as we receive the turn files it´s all good. Make a post here when you start it up and then we can confirm if we got the mails or not.

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

Uh oh ... Bandar's god is invalid. Do you think he made it without CBM on? Or maybe some other mod was enabled?

I think we need a reset, and Bandar needs to build a CBM-only god.

Omnirizon October 9th, 2008 10:22 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

probably had CBM turned off.

make sure you turn on CBM and send in your pretenders...
don't have any other mods on. I don't think any other mods should actually affect making the pretender though, so it shouldn't matter, but just to be safe.

Omnirizon October 9th, 2008 10:28 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

the game has been reset. everyone resend in pretenders.

BL be sure to remake your pretender with CBM turned on.

Edit: actually, it looks like only BL needs to resubmit, all pretenders are still there. I've simply deleted BL's. The game will start as soon as we have everyone then.

Janlm October 10th, 2008 03:00 AM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

eh the game has started, and i'm sure you all got the message that Bandar log has cheated and pretender has been reduced in power. What the hell is that about?

Janlm October 10th, 2008 11:57 AM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

eh, I should try and remember reading posts above me :)

Omnirizon October 10th, 2008 12:10 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

it's a common problem that occurs with CBM. if a pretender is made with CBM off and the game is using CBM, it will raise a cheat flag.

it simply means bandar log must resubmit a pretender. I've deleted their pretender and reset the game.

nobody will need to do anything else. when BL has sent their new pretender, the game should start automatically

archaeolept October 10th, 2008 01:46 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

basically, this means that the vanilla pretender submitted would have cost more than the allowed point total if designed under CBM; hence, the cheat message. This also means that BL was using one of the rare pretenders that have been made more expensive in CB :)

Omnirizon October 10th, 2008 04:18 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

ohhh. hint to what they're using!

archaeolept October 10th, 2008 04:25 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

well, it could be as simple as a dual path cyclops, as CB increases the cost for secondary paths for them.

Omnirizon October 10th, 2008 04:38 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

that's probably a good guess...

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

My mistake was that I had an older version of CBM installed. Really sorry guys, installing the new one and resending pretender right now.

Ylvali October 10th, 2008 09:35 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

And so we´re off the ground finally! Sorry for delaying ye all. I can only blame the fact that I have just finished a six day fast and my brain is still a bit trippy. Seems a good and thematic way to start off my first MP game as Bandar log though.:D

I will play as Vandana Shiva, inspired by the indian human rights activist of the same name and one of my greatest role models. I had the honour to meet her last month at the European social forum in Malmö, and thus I know from personal experience that she posess the charisma and spiritual power to make a worthy Dom3 pretender:p

Whether I can translate her non-violent, ecofeminist, global rights perspective into a working strategy is yet to be seen. :smirk:

And so it began...

It started in the villages, forests and hidden caves of the sacred land. Rumors began to spread. Furry little paws pounding ancestral drums. "...rise,rise...to freedom...the age of slavery will end...white ones have come down from the mountains...follow the enlightened one, the black woman...bananas for everyone..."
It is clouded by myth where she came from, but all followed her: markatas, atavi, vanara, bandar. Even the white ones. And the human oppressors were thrown out of the sacred land.
exerpt of IPC(international primates committee)
official log.

Nikelaos October 11th, 2008 11:57 AM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

nice background, all i can think off for mine is "wade in the water", not because it has anything to do with slavery but just the idea of intelegent lizards adapting from a desert landscape to a swamp makes it sorta fit if you take it literally.

So hatchlings, wade in the water, wade in the water hatchlings.

Omnirizon October 11th, 2008 03:56 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - upload

I just love the irony of the mention of Vandana Shiva on the same site that sells a game based on the glorified reliving of the Falklands War... hell, a site that glorifies war in general.

I believe that dom3 is an ironist game though, the way each nation is based on historical examples, and everything is sort of absurdly lewd.

we should all strive to be Ironists

In the forest, the lumberjack chopped.
In the forest, the trees bled.
In the forest, the land cried out.

In the forest, the minotaurs stampede.
In the forest, the maenads danced.
In the forest, the Pans enchanted.

In the forest, the land shall cry in anger
In the forest, the trees shall march to war
In the forest, the lumberjack will chop no more.

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - rockin out

Okay, very funny. To whoever invited all those barbarians to a bunch of parties in Mictlan's forests and plains we just say, "Ha ha, yes, very funny practical joke." Mictlan knows how to appreciate a good practical joke. So we're just gonna kill all your barbarians, and next time you want to have a party, well, maybe it'll just be missing a little bit of that barbarian element!

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - rockin out

In the forest, the stupid awake pretender slips and breaks its stupid neck. (Actually happened several turns ago). Efforts are on their way to revive said stupid.

Omnirizon October 16th, 2008 01:58 PM

Re: BonsaiKitten - Game for people who feel constricted - rockin out

well i don't think you're the only one this happened to, sum1lost.

Shinuyama mourns the loss of their faceless prophet, Yukitoso (or something like that). She enjoyed shopping for wedding gowns and burial shrouds (she was an odd lass), and scaring the children with her... faceless face.

We sent her in to a situation having forgotten to script her for it. She died a rather meaningless death. Omni now waits for her haunting spirit to leave this world, so that he may prophetize another lucky young faceless lass.

On another note, there are fairly clear cut bounds between each starting pocket, up to the mountain province endcap that lies between each pocket pair. For Shinuyama's part, whoever reaches those endcaps first get them, but if anyone steps over into "our side of the line" in those pockets, they will get an early war. The Dai Kittens don't play, and are no force to be trifled with. They wield big swords, wear heavy armor, and kill even the cute kids.
