Discharge - LA game - Finished

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. And squids. And whatnot. A new game, what do you say?

Basic info:
Late Age, no Ermor or R'lyeh, please, and thanks for the fish.
Around 15 players, planning on a long-ish game with quite a bit of action. If we get
I'd like to have people with some experience in mp games, though won't say no to a total starter either. You only learn by playing.
Mod(s): CBM 1.3 (includes worthy heroes iirc)
Map: Glory of the Gods (MP) - startpositions modded - See post #36 for the map file, or just click the link on llamaserver.
Last man (or dragon or lich or whatever you choose your god to be) standing wins.
24h per turn until people want more time to think up their stratagems.
Hosting will be done on llamaserver (Praised be thee, four legged shaggy animal with great coding skills)
Other options:
Hall of Fame entries 15
Renaming allowed (of course)
Normal research
NO score graphs, may paranoia rule the land.
And I'm not forcing you to stand by your pacts (NAPs, Alliances, trades). If you think you can get away with your scam, go ahead. It's a perilous world out there, but if you break your treaties easily, don't think other people will stand up to their words to you either. Every action has an equal reaction. (Meaning basically that this game will have a machiavellian politics.)

Roleplaying your nation/pretender/prophet/neuroptera on this forum (and in politics) is suggested and looked kindly upon but not enforced. Imagination is your limit. Basically. Provided that you can conjure your imagination into words.

Players:

C'tis, Desert Tombs - Quitti (Lizards shall arise again, if not voluntarily, then by dark magic.)
Agartha, Ktonian Dead - Juffos (Hu-Nam corpse glorifiers)
Man, Towers of Chelms - Caerun (Jealous tower guardians)
Marignon, Conquerors of the Sea - Ossa (BLOOD! FIRE!)
Patala, Reign of the Nagas - Revolution (Painful water)
Abysia, Blood of Humans - Kortek (MORE FIRE, LESS BLOOD!)
Pangaea, New Era - Nimnio (Natures revenge)
Ulm, Black Forest - Illuminated one (Vampires, ghouls, whatnot)
T'ien Ch'i, Barbarian Kings - Rabelais (Mongolian hordespam!)
Arcoscephale, Sibylline Guidance - Purgatorio (Phalangites, Phalangites. I like this word. Phalangites.)
Pythium, Serpent Cult - hunt11 (Heretical Swampageddon)
Jomon, Human Daimyos - Dark Kitty (Shall spam samurai archers)
Bogarus, Age of Heroes - Zapmeister (Go go gadget mages)
Mictlan, Blood and Rain - LoloMo (Rawr, obsidian clubs for everyone)
Atlantis, Frozen sea - Agema (Deep frozen bones)

And the game is running. Everyone have fun :)

(Information subject to change. I do not take any responsibility on your cats or avocados, whichever might be reading this. And all the usual stuff. You know, what you get when you press "I accept" when installing stuff. Agreeing on not using this game as a nuclear weapon and such.)

///

Game is now finished, congratulations to Revolution playing Patala for the win :)

Re: Discharge - LA game - Taking in players

The nation of Agartha was waning. All the great Pale One Oracles were already dead, and a new people, the Hu-Nams, had replaced the native Agarthans. Many bodies were embalmed to preserve the Agarthan legacy through these times of toil and hardship, and a new god has arisen, one who has claimed giving these corpses unnatural life will bring the nation of Agartha back its lost glory.

That is, I will be playing as Agartha, Ktonian Dead.

I'll take Man, if that's ok, though I'm by no means a veteran.

However, I do hereby promise to kick the hindquarters/rear appendages/tentacles of anything that comes around to the Towers looking for easy prey.

(I'll put the RP elements in later, but for now I'd just like to take Marignon)

Ah, a shame what's been happening with llamaserver, but lets hope it'll be fixed sooner than later.

I would like to join as Arcoscephale.

(caveat: I have played a bit of SP but no MP to date; hopefully this won't be a problem?)

Quitti November 3rd, 2008 03:17 PM

No problem Purgatorio, as I said, I won't turn anyone down :)

I'll take Pythium if possible

I am in the same situation as Purgatorio, it would be my first MP game (if one more newbie is ok, of course). I would like to take Jomon if possible :)

Re: Discharge - LA game - Taking in players

I for one think another MP rookie wouldn't be a problem. I look forward to playing against both experienced players (a chance to learn something) and newer players alike.

You shall all fall beneath the might of my elephants anyways ;)

I'd join if its not difficult research. I like the rpg element but not a fan of taking forever to research spells while hydras and giants are swarming my lands. :)

Re: Discharge - LA game - Taking in players

Well, if there's still time to find out who the heck they are, I'd like to try Bogarus.

Quitti November 7th, 2008 06:22 AM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Taking in players

Regarding the difficulty of magic research:

This mainly boosts the abilities of non-magical nations, and the more magic-affiliated races take a while to get to the point where they start being quite real threat to others, like Bogarus. It takes time to get evocation to 8-9, where their mages start to own ;)... Not that they'd be useless anyway. But it is a boost to some of the blessrush-nations such as Mictlan (And I think Pythium had some nasty sacreds too?). Oh and T'ien Ch'i had these fun cavalry too.

I'd like a vote on if research should be normal/difficult. If you do not voice your opinion I'll count you as indifferent. Mainly what I've heard from you so far, most would want it at normal - PREFERABLY PM ME, so we won't clutter up this thread with those posts.

--
Edit: Seems like we have mictlan, pythium and t'ien ch'i in, Meaning that I'm preferring normal research more and more. Bogarus is going to have a fun time :D

LoloMo November 7th, 2008 06:28 AM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Taking in players

Hi, I would like to try out Mictlan. No preferences on the research difficulty.

Agema November 7th, 2008 06:38 AM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Taking in players

Hi, I've got time for a new game.

I've got about half a dozen MP games under my belt but none have been Late Era, so if you can give me a day or two to check out the nations before I pick I'd be grateful.

I've no preferences on magic research, I'll abstain there.

Quitti November 7th, 2008 06:59 AM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Taking in players

Alright, we're full. Agema, you're in, but don't take too long picking a nation, preferably do it before sunday so we can get this game started.

Agema November 7th, 2008 08:52 AM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Full, starting soon

Thanks.

I'll let you know my nation tomorrow.

Purgatorio November 7th, 2008 01:33 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Full, starting soon

I vote for difficult research. (probably in the minority, but thought i'd toss that out there).

Illuminated One November 7th, 2008 10:54 PM

I'm for normal research.

I'll take the Atlantis. May my fishy ones successfully reverse their eviction from the sea!

Quitti November 9th, 2008 02:30 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Full, starting soon

Okay, by overwhelming votes, Normal research wins the day. I'll be hosting the game next week, probably monday. If I don't get any good suggestions for a map, it'll be Glory of Gods (Multiplayer).

Revolution November 9th, 2008 02:58 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Full, starting soon

Alexander is also a nice similar sized map. With either of those or if you choose a random map I suggest going into the map editor and making provinces with less than 3 neighbors or those that are surrounded by marsh/wasteland no starts and then giving us the edited map file. Glory of the gods defiantly has some spots you would not want to start in.

Dumb question (which is probably answered elsewhere on this forum): how do I find the CBM 1.3 mod? Hopefully I can handle installing the mod once I find it :o

CBM 1.3 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=39679

I also suggest anyone inexperienced with dom 3 multiplayer should hop by the strategy index and read up on their nation if it's in there. The advice in those guides are exceptionally useful.

Thanks. There was no LA Arcoscephale guide, but there was an excellent MA Arcoscephale guide, most of which is applicable to LA as well.

Quitti November 12th, 2008 10:08 AM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Full, starting soon

Allright, I ran the map file through with this script and it should be good now, minimum neighbor provinces 3 for everyone, doesn't quarantee that the start would be good still, but let's hope it works for everyone... Map file is attached to next post. Save it into your dominions3/maps folder. It's creatively called "Glory of the Gods (MP) - Startpositions modded" in-game.

Re: Discharge - LA game - Uploading pretenders.

I notice on llamaserver that someone uploaded a pretender for "Chelms" nation. I am not familiar with that LA nation ... how do I prepare to fight against this unknown nation?

Bump

Just waiting on a couple more pretenders.

Revolution November 14th, 2008 02:57 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Uploading pretenders.

Ossa (Marignon) Is the only one left who has not yet sent in a pretender...but there is a problem. He has not posted on the forums in almost 2 weeks and he just staled out of another game I'm in. I'm not sure if he has some RL issues going on or went on vacation or just stopped playing Dom. Regardless, I suggest we try to find a new player to fill in for Marignon or another unchosen nation of his choosing. Assuming of course that Ossa does not miraculously show up like right now.

Ossa November 15th, 2008 12:30 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Uploading pretenders.

*miraculously pop up*

tara!
Sorry for the inconvenience - my ISP failed me for more than a week and I needed a lot of technicians here to fix it. I'll upload right now.

rabelais November 15th, 2008 06:24 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Uploading pretenders.

I sent in a second pretender which was acknowledged by llamaserver, but it seems like the first one stuck... how does one replace one's pretender, and or check to make sure which one it *thinks* is current?

I don't mind playing this one, just made me realize I have no idea how to actually replace them, since I failed. Advice sought.

Rahrah Mongols,

Rabe

Quitti November 16th, 2008 03:48 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Started

I think the second one should automatically replace the first one. You ought to ask llamabeast to make sure.

rabelais November 16th, 2008 04:01 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Started

I did. he said he's not sure how it happened and I should ask for a restart, but that's just silly... its only a game.

Juffos November 16th, 2008 05:10 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Started

A restart would be fair, considering your situation. Even if it's just a game, still it should be fair towards everyone.

Quitti November 16th, 2008 05:14 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Started

If you wish for restart, please PM me, I'll arrange it before we go past turn 2-3.

Revolution November 16th, 2008 05:46 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Started

If we're gonna restart we should do it now, before turn 2. But if Rabelais is ok with his god then that's probably not necessary.

No quickhost?

rabelais November 16th, 2008 09:48 PM

Re: Discharge - LA game - Started

If people don't mind I would like to restart, as I think my other setup is better, but I don't want to be a PITA.

Does anyone object? Would we just go back to pretender upload?

Rabe

If anyone hates the idea, send a PM to Quitti, and he'll let me down easy

That way I won't know who blackballed me. ;)
