Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Read the whole discussion thread, it's really amazing game setting. It's new concept for me, but I'll try my best.

I prefer EA Caelum/MA Jotun/LA Bogarus. So Age is not a issue for me, all three eras are fine. However I strongly suggest not using the single age MOD as it will ruin the RP environment and it's unbalanced. (Well if player's picks are well diversified so that there are no nations from same kingdom line, it would be fine to use single Age mod)

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Hinnom/Ashdod/Niefel for me, got story for all of them :)

I have nothing against single age mod, but I'd like to restrict choices to just 1 instance of multi-age nation.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Hmm. No dammit. I won't join another game

Umm, do you need me?

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Yes :)

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

My first pick would be LA Atlantis. I've got some ideas, both gamewise and narrative, I'd like to try. After that, I'm not sure. Let's say MA Machaka and EA Agartha.

I have a slight preference for LA, but I'm also fine with using the all-eras mod. I'm even okay with allowing duplicate nations, provided that each player can come up with a background story explaining the differences between themselves and the other nations of the same name.

calmon November 30th, 2008 05:15 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Like i wrote in the other thread, i would like to join :)

Nation selection will come.

Tifone November 30th, 2008 05:30 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Like i wrote in the other thread too, i would like to join too, and nation selection will come too :)

Like solmyr, I'm not in favour of Single Age, I'd like EA but any Era works, so I'll put up my preference when you've decided about the mod or the era ;)

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I also wrote on the other thread.
Fine with any age, I'd like to try a mod nation> Tomb Kings, Sylvania and maybe Insectiods for EA still not sure, they seem a bit too strong, something like LA Ermor.

Hadrian_II November 30th, 2008 06:25 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I Could live with the single age mod.

Also my whole preferences are Skaven/EA Kailasa/MA Pangaea but skaven is strongly preferred.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Perhaps TC/MA, TC/LA or Shinuyama/MA.

I don't care that much. Give me any nation.

Ylvali November 30th, 2008 08:15 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I´d like to play any of: Lizardmen, underkings , Hoburgs - beer and apples, MA Ulm or LE Atlantis.

I´d prefer Llamaserver or other PBEM host.

hunt11 November 30th, 2008 08:33 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

EA: Abysia MA: Atlantis LA: Pythium

Lokean November 30th, 2008 09:33 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I think I can get away with the Single Age mod, but definitely restricted to one incarnation of a nation (possible exceptions for Helheim/Vanaheim and Marignon/Pythium/Ermor). If it presents a problem this time around I won't use it again, but better to try things out for the experimental pilot, right?

A request has been made for PBEM, if there're no objections I'll be setting this up to host on the Llamaserver.

Zeldor November 30th, 2008 01:31 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Lokean:

It's MArverni-MA MAri-LA Mari and EA Van - MA Van - LA Midgard [but here LA is less tied].

DonCorazon November 30th, 2008 02:54 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Zeldor - good to see you are not powergaming with Ashdo/Hinnom/and Niefel

I'd rather not do a Single Age Mod. I'd vote for MA.
Nation preference depend on Age I suppose but for MA I'd like to try Ryleh and for LA - Pythium. For EA, I will take whatever.

Zeldor November 30th, 2008 03:00 PM

I really have good story for why my nation should rule the world!

Don't we all, Zeldor, don't we all... :)

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I would like in . My vote is for Middle age only, no mod nations (especially no Insects or amos mods).

I will decide nation later on.

quantum_mechani November 30th, 2008 04:09 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

EA: Arco, MA: Man LA: Pythium. No all nations mod, and if I had to pick an era, LA. Also, I agree agree with homer about amos mods.

calmon November 30th, 2008 07:50 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I would also prefer only nations from 1 age. Maybe + some mod nations but no amos mods (i tried the insects some time ago and they are just insane!).

My nation selections:

EA Fomoria, MA Pythium, LA Ermor

Lokean November 30th, 2008 07:58 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Well, that makes 19 players, which takes the provinces per player down to ~14. I think I'll call that 'full'.

Assuming those who have not voiced an opinion are not in favor of the use of the Single Age Mod the poll suggests it not be used. However, with 18 players, there's going to be a fair amount of difficulty assigning nations to people. Currently, if nobody minds the following mod nations (I've played two of them, they're strong, but they're comparable to a strong vanilla nation) Middle Age would seem the best option, since everyone can have something off their list without overlap.

Mod nations:
Skaven
Hoburg alliance
Tomb Kings

To reiterate, for those of you waiting to find out which era they're in, it's Middle Age.

Now, if those of you with thoughts on the matter would go look in the original discussion thread, I'm curious about the opposal of the Single Age Mod.

Please switch me to ermor. (and ignore my pm ;) )

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Be sure to use the new improved SingleAge mod by Slobby. Not my barebones original one. Slobbys can be found farther down in the same thread.

Lokean November 30th, 2008 09:07 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I'm afraid I don't think it'll get used at all. Since the point is to get people writing I'd rather they be as comfortable with the setup as possible. Since some of the players are strongly opposed I'm going to have to go along with that.

Zeldor November 30th, 2008 09:11 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Ok, so I will modify my choice to include LA possibility - Ermor or Agartha.

Lokean November 30th, 2008 09:15 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

*points upstream*

If it's going to be restricted by era it's going to be Middle Age, it was the one with the best spread of top choices and no overlaps.

Ah,Marignon. Thats good...

for it is our Holy Mission to bring the teachings of the Church of Saint Joachim to you lost souls, lest you be cast into the gaping maw of Gehenna, from which there can be no escape.

...did I overdo it?

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I would like to play a mod nation, Sanguinia, if possible. I played them in an MP game before and they were fun and tricky to use at the same time.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Place me as a sub, in case anyone drops out early, or before the game even starts. I'm over my limit of three games if I play this one, but it sounds too interesting to ignore.

Whoops, changed my mind. I'd just go for Abysia as I'm not in a greek mood now and I need inspiration for this game (fire-glowing guys always give a muse :D) Sorry for double post.

Heh, seems I'm late!
All the same, if you have a place or are just interested ;)
Against the Single Age, for EA. I would take Lanka or Shinuyama if I was in time, but as Shinuyama seems to be already taken...
Tien Chi, I think.

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Hi everyone. If there is an opening could I join this game as Arcoscephale? Forgive me if this is not an appropriate game for new players. :o I've read the pre-game discussion thread as well and would like to read everyone writing about their experience. :)

Zeldor December 2nd, 2008 12:08 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I hope we are not going to have 72h turns from the beginning. I know we have to write smth, but it's not longer than 15 mins usually in the beginning. Let's go with normal turn timer, so 24h till about turn 20-25.

Tifone December 2nd, 2008 03:47 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

24hrs is too short for me and I should drop. Not less than 48 quickhost for me, sorry. Another player here IIRC said he was up only for a slow game...

solmyr December 2nd, 2008 10:52 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Oh, I can't do 24 hours turn, either. I'd suggest 72 hours a turn with quickhost on, so the pace will be at everybody's comfort.

Hadrian_II December 2nd, 2008 11:31 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

It would be only 24h for the first few turns, that take 5 min to do, so i strongly vote for it. I think the only thing that would make long turns in the start necessary are people that have only access to the internet every 48h (and this would be a rather strange occurance).

Tifone December 2nd, 2008 11:36 AM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I'm sorry to apply to the strange occurance Hadrian. :o

If I am the only one and all the other guys really want the 24hrs I can disapply to the game (self sacrifice for the sake of the many) but I think there are others which need a bit more hours. Being quickhost, it will not be full 48 too, probably around 30 or so.

Lokean's decision anyway :)

Zeldor December 2nd, 2008 12:06 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

If game starts with 72h timer it will die before it starts. And we all know that many people do the turn when they get notification e-mail.

djo December 2nd, 2008 12:15 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Speaking as an interested spectator (and potential sub, should the need arise), and an advocate for slow games...

Mistletoe is on turn 16 running at 6-day quickhost from turn 1.

Yarnspinners2 ran 3 turns/week from turn 1, no quickhost.

The turn interval was announced in post #1; presumably everyone understood that when they signed up.

Zeldor December 2nd, 2008 12:27 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

IT was added later. And there are slow games and there are also dead games. There is absolutely no reason to have 72h timer when turns take 5 mins max.

Ylvali December 2nd, 2008 01:56 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

The turns might take 5 min. But I think this game should be more about role playing and that takes time. Use the extra initial time to create a really good background story for your race and commanders, the rise of your prophet and so on.

Though I agree that 72h is a bit long to begin with. I vote for 24 the first 5 turns and 48 from then on.

I can´t help but notice that I have been assigned two nations in the first post. I only want the hoburgs.

Tifone December 2nd, 2008 03:34 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Just starting with 48? I hate to ask this but I'd be in great trouble playing 5 consequent days - I don't have continuous access to the game.

Lokean December 2nd, 2008 04:41 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I'm not dropping it below 48h quickhost, but I suppose 48h is fine until somebody appeals for longer.

Also, anybody asking to join the game now will be considered for reserves if the original interested parties have dropped, but will not be added as a potential player unless somebody else pulls out, decides they don't want to play after all or vanishes.

K_O, if you're reading this still, would you prefer T'ien Ch'i to Shinuyama?

Zeldor December 2nd, 2008 05:11 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

With that attitude with timer you may have plenty of people staling or going AI. Just a warning based on some MP games.

Gandalf Parker December 2nd, 2008 05:16 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

Considering that people have often complained about 24 hour forced turns we might want it longer. A 24 hour turnaround does work well but after all, those were games where all you had to do was plan your moves and turn them in. If we allow one day to make your move, and then another day or two or more to get antsy thinking about the game then maybe it will help draw out the AAR writing we are hoping for.

Tifone December 2nd, 2008 05:23 PM

Re: Chronicles: Signup and Actual game-things

I think you're a little armageddonish my friend :)
Just playing one day every two (eventually as there is quickhost) instead of every day, in order to help game-companions partecipate the fun... would be sad if just this pulls someone out of the game.
Maybe if this one goes away just for this he wasn't really so interested in playing this game... ? It seems that for its very nature Lokean's Chronicles will be somewhat slow anyway soon. ;)

For me, can't wait for it to start. Must also say it's an honour for me to play with some famous ppl of the forum and I thank Lokean even for this
