lochness; LA - running

I giant monster from the paleolithic area appears in front of you! hey looks down at you with his big red eyes. you yell up at him "what do ya want from us monsta?" The monster bends down and he says "I need 'bout tree-fiddy." "tree-fiddy?" you aks. "tree-fiddy" he replies calmly.

and because you're a sucker, you gave him tree-fiddy. now you don't have any points left to design your pretender with.

all pretenders must have at least tree-fiddy points left after design. you can use all means to get extra points, but you must have the original tree-fiddy still left.

loch-ness monster

let's get started before the loch ness monster comes back to ask for more.

Game: Lochness
Map: -under consideration-
Era: Late Age
Players: 8-12
Indies: 5
Special Sites: 75
Money/Resource/Supply: 125
Score Graphs: On
Research: Difficult
Victory: Standard
Mods: CBM

Money/Resource/Supply is also under consideration. Most likely it will be higher than normal, right now I've got it set at 125. I'm open to input/advice/reasoning.

Also under consideration is if Ermor/R'yleh should be banned. It seems to me that their mass freespawn would actually be even more advantageous with such limited scales and pretender; so right now I'm thinking they are out.

Hosting: Llamaserver. 24 hours for first 20; 48 hours until people want 72. All delay requests will be honored, but you must PM or post the admin. Two stales in a row and AI.

I'll be C'tis

How 'bout two-fiddy?

Omnirizon December 11th, 2008 02:47 AM

Ah now so its only two-fiddy. What is there a sale on lochness munchies 'a sumthin?

Re: lochness; LA - open

Interesting concept (and hilarious video) but I always curse Ilwinter for not giving me enough points as it is. Or their diabolic algorithm that always leaves me with -1 point.

:) That intro is hilarious.

They're being displayed during pretender creation all the time. Or at least on all the screens where you can spend points.

Apsophos December 11th, 2008 02:57 PM

I mean how do you check that OTHER players kept their tree-fiddy?

We can either use the honor system, or have some review system. Something could be setup up so that each player's pretender file is reveiwed by another random player from within the game.

Start a game. note scale choices (by using starting scales in home province). if the pretender is asleep advance until it wakes up. note awakening choice. note magic choice. note pretender type. go to game tools, remake that pretender and make sure it has at least 350 left.

Re: lochness; LA - open

Darn, I thought for some reason catgod displayed unused points. But it does display all the attributes. If you can find a volunteer not in the game to check the .2h files, maybe llamabeast could mail the turn 0 set of .2h files to him and he could check?

catgod is probably a lot easier and more accurate than looking at the home provinces.

I hadn't thought of catgod. OK. that sounds good.

Re: lochness; LA - open

Ah, you've fallen into a common trap there vfb.

Fiddy comes from an ancient Sanskrit word originally meaning 'scent' or 'perfume'. Tree-fiddy is of course a fiddy that comes from trees - in the ancient middle east this would normally have referred to frankincense (a valuable and strongly scented tree resin), and thus we can see that Omnirizon is making a reference to the forthcoming Christmastide.

In juxtaposing the approaching festive season with the image of the Loch Ness monster, the introductory text is actually a subtle yet hilarious satire on the increasing commercialisation of Christmas.

I have no idea what the game rules are, though.

second thought, i'd like to LA TC

Tifone December 12th, 2008 10:27 AM

Re: lochness; LA - open

I can make the external-check of the pretenders if you need help :) (got catgod and the CBM so it would just take the time to remake and control them) That would just take mr. llama to send the god files to me ;)

You know, I think I'd like to try Bogarus. Not a nation I've played with much before, but it always seemed to me that they had very interesting possibilities.

I might join this game. Anyways I'm thinking about trying out Jomon even though everyone thinks they suck. Ive gotta run a test in Single player with the build first to see how I think it will work out though

I'll take Pythium.

PsiSoldier December 13th, 2008 02:15 PM

Re: lochness; LA - open

Eh sorry, this one is not going to work for me. I need more points for my strategy to work. Interesting concept though.

lwarmonger December 13th, 2008 05:25 PM

Re: lochness; LA - open

Yeah, Jomon really needs an excellent dominion to have any chance at success, and with so many design points required you just aren't going to have that.

vfb December 13th, 2008 08:00 PM

Re: lochness; LA - open

Well, we've got 9 ... anyone want to run with that? That way we've got a pretty good chance of kicking it off before Xmas.

Re: lochness; LA - open

the games up. we're using wraith bunny map.

I'll get w/ Tifone and work out a way for him to review. I'll post back as soon as I have.

We may delay the game, or have rather long hosting periods, until the holidays are over.

Tifone December 16th, 2008 04:59 AM

Re: lochness; LA - open

I happen to trust the community very much, and don't personally think the review is necessary :D Anyway, I'll be glad to do that. I suggest you to ask llamabeast to send me the pretenders' files. I sent you my mail address by PM ;)

qio December 16th, 2008 06:29 AM

Re: lochness; LA - open

Is it three-fiddy or two-fiddy then?

vfb December 16th, 2008 09:16 AM

Re: lochness; LA - open

350, aka Tree Fiddy

Omnirizon December 17th, 2008 03:04 PM

Re: lochness; LA - open

well i don't want to be an imposition on tifone, and have no problem simply trusting everybody.

so if everyone's feeling ok with it, we could just go honor system.

PS, i've added the map to OP, in case people don't have it. also, i'll my pretender in here very soon.

Tifone December 17th, 2008 03:41 PM

Re: lochness; LA - open

No imposition for me, lol, it would take me 5 minutes :)

Anyway you decide, if you're happy with just honour system, even better. Keep in mind I'm at your disposal, so eventually just... let me know ;)

vfb December 17th, 2008 06:17 PM

Re: lochness; LA - open

I don't think anyone would try to cheat intentionally. But it might be better to check me now than discover on turn 20 that I emailed the wrong pretender, and I'm not Tree Fiddy at all.

Omnirizon December 18th, 2008 03:51 AM

Re: lochness; LA - open

have we lost a player? I don't see nozshand.

Omnirizon December 18th, 2008 08:59 PM

Re: lochness; LA - open

i think nozshand has unceremoniously dropped from the game. I'm going to go ahead and start it without him unless he can get in contact soon. Still waiting on llamabeast to get back with me about forwarding pretenders to Tifone for review. once this is done, we'll be up and running.

for winter break, I will have the intervals on something like 3 days, but quickhost on of course. i don't want anyone to feel pulled from the merry-making.

nozshand December 18th, 2008 10:52 PM

Re: lochness; LA - open

i will be uploading my pretender ASAP

Omnirizon December 19th, 2008 12:26 AM

Re: lochness; LA - open

OK thank you :)

I didn't know if you dropped or not. I'd seen you around but you didn't post in the thread or anything, so I assumed you may have left.

Omnirizon December 19th, 2008 01:26 AM

Re: lochness; LA - open

OK we're all here. just waiting for llama to confirm that he can forward pretenders to Tifone. We will start immediately, and if Tifone finds anything amiss, we all just gang up on that guy. :D

I don't want to start until I here from llama though because starting might erase the pretender files we sent in.

Tifone December 19th, 2008 04:33 PM

Wow!

Thanks Tifone.

Game starts now. I'll put it on 72 hour cycle until holidays are over. of course, I hope we move faster than that, but never feel pressured to right now.
