LlamaServer ID: HumanWar
Players: 16
Map: AsiaTwist by PashaDawg
Gold: 125
Resources: 125
Sites: 60
Renaming: On
Heroes: 15
Mods: Updated Single Age Complete, CBM 1.3, Banners Mod

Hosting: PBEM (LlamaServer), 24 hour quickhost with 48 hour quickhost beginning the 5th of January (school starts :))

Rules: No Awake Pretenders, no banned spells, no smack talk between players but between nations it's okay (ie, refer to a nation when talking ****, not a player).

Concept: I've been wanting to see wars fought with mostly human armies for awhile now. I excluded any nation that could build more than one type of non-human troop; nations that had more than one human troop type with supernatural powers (ie, shape shifting or flying). Dormant or imprisoned pretenders only, with a gold and resource boost to help facilitate early expansion. Water provinces ARE viable, with no Aquatic or Amphibious nations.

Current Players and/or Subs (12/26/08 or 26.12.08 for you non-Americans):

. EA Arcoscophale - chrispedersen
. EA Ermor - rabelais
. EA Marverni - LoloMo
. EA Ulm - rdonj
. MA Man - nozshand
. MA Arcoscephale - Fakeymcfake

. LA Bogarus - solmyr
. LA Jomon - JimMorrison

Re: Human Wars: Odd Man Out

EA Ulm! By the way, why no LA Jomon? I'm pretty sure they fit the criteria.

In the single age mod thread it says we need to rename the mod to use it on the llamaserver. Is that still true? What EXACTLY does the mod need to be renamed to... I've renamed my copy to SingleAgeMod.dm for the moment.

Well, LA Ulm Was taken, if that player drops, I'll take it. Otherwise MA Arcocephale. Doh! taken as well.

Isokron December 26th, 2008 12:24 PM

Re: Human Wars: Odd Man Out

I would like MA Pythium, but what about the hydras ?

chrispedersen December 26th, 2008 12:34 PM

Re: Human Wars: Odd Man Out

BTW, I think this deck is pretty stacked in EA-TC favor.
They have ready access to water units via River Demons. Also they have flying (Celestial Masters) and the other supernatural power spring warrior or whatever its called on their sacred. Doesn't that violate the no 2 units with supernatural?

Soooo MA-Pythium, LA-Pythium, EA Arco Machaka.

Zeldor December 26th, 2008 12:39 PM

Re: Human Wars: Odd Man Out

I think I may have time for a new game soon, so sign me up with LA TC.

P.S. Isn't LA Agartha a human nations [just with cave drakes]? Only some summons are not human.

rabelais December 26th, 2008 02:35 PM

Re: Human Wars: Odd Man Out

LA TC please, or if someone desperately prefers that I'd take EA ermor. Research normal, or harder to make actual human troop battles go on for longer?

thanks,

Rabe

You are absolutely right, they were on my list, but I must have missed them when creating the post. Sorry everyone, they have been added.

Yup, I've talked about it with jim and he has agreed to relenquish EA TC. I was worried about them last night, wondering if they would be too overpowered for this game.

Okay, I think I explained why I allowed the Pythiums.

Machaka DOES have two casters that can shapeshift ... but I fudged with them so that I had enough nations to let people choose from, plus their shapeshifting sorcererss is sort of worthless ;)

I'm allowing early Arco because the only real supernatural unit they have is the Oreiad. The Icarid is a human with a mechanical winged suit, which I am counting as a supernatural mount of sorts.

I am counting Hydras and hydra hatchlings as one type of unit.

Variations of the same thing I'm allowing in their case. They're mostly the same unit, just smaller.

Also, nations that have a special troop unit that also has a commander variation I am allowing.

The game I am in that is using the single age requires the file to be named "SingleAgeComplete.dm". Until I actually build the game on the server I cannot verify that at 100%, but I am fairly certain that is the correct name.

Well blah, I tried to explain that EA TC might have issues. :P

So, I will take MA TC. O.O

Zeldor December 26th, 2008 04:47 PM

Re: Human Wars: Odd Man Out (2 players needed)

There are 2 mods, one is SingleAge.dm, another is SingleAgeComplete, afaik the other one is proper, fixed version of the first one, with new nations added. Creating game on llamaserver automatically adds one of them just by selecting multi-age game. Llamabeast had to fix it, so only the proper mod is used, I think MadFrancis should ask llamabeast about it before we start the game.

Yes, but I just felt that they were too overpowering here. This game will probably not be perfectly balanced, but I did try to cut any obviously over-powered nations from the make-up.

Sauromatia gets hydras, as well as androphag archers. The poison arrows should count as a special ability, due to their mechanics, and they are quite vicious against human sized (10hp) troops in particular.

The link on the sign-up post for Single Age now leads directly to the correct mod.

Nooooo I was saying which Nations I wanted to play - and since the *first* two nations I wanted to play were taken while I was typing, I added other nations.

I think I was the first to request EA-Arcocephale

Okay, HumanWars is up and running, ready for pretender submission. Still waiting on qio to select a nation. I have sent him a PM asking if any of the nations left would be suitable.

No problem. As much as I want to dig into this game, I expected it to take much longer to fill up (took only about 13 hours). I figure if the game gets going by Sunday we are in pretty good shape. If it happens sooner, awesome.

Seems to work fine for me. i click on the link and it IE asks to download or run a file.

that is the address of the thread where the link can be found; second link first post.

Re: Human Wars: Odd Man Out (sign-up complete, submit Pretenders)

I tried to send in my pretender to the llamaserver but it was rejected as being for the wrong age. I created it with all the mods enabled. I am guessing it doesn't like my file being referred to as early ulm for a middle age game? I'm not sure what to do to get past this.

Anyway it is too late for me to spend any more time on it tonight, I'll look back into it tomorrow.

Well ... I'm not sure what the problem is. I have messaged Llama about this and will try and find out what .dm we should be using.

Re: Human Wars: Odd Man Out (sign-up complete, submit Pretenders)

You need to enable single age mod and choose MA when creating your nation, not EA. But it should be blocked anyway, you should be able to choose only MA if you enabled the mod.

I'm not having that problem. We can play without the banner mod if it causes too much trouble, but it will be difficult to tell nations apart.

You must be missing part of the mod, or you didn't unpack it well. Try doing it again.

MadFrancis December 27th, 2008 03:16 PM

Re: Human Wars: Odd Man Out (sign-up complete, submit Pretenders)

okay. the game is up and actually accepting pretenders now :). If something is not working for you I suggest removing all your mod .dm files and re-downloading from the links provided on the sign-up post the necessary mods. Everything seemed to work fine for me and my pretender was accepted this time.

BTW, for everyone's convenience I have provided a link to the game's LlamaServer page, as well as direct links to PMs for every player in the game. Hopefully I will be able to keep the Current Players and/or Subs list current and provide easy access to communications with other players.

IMPORTANT
The game name has been changed from "HumanWars" to "HumanWar" (just drop the "s"). Please make note of this.
