nagot gick fell?
I'm assuming this is Swedish or Norwegian (whatever the programmers speak).
The message reads "myfree: corrupted mem block (high)" Now, I swear I've bought the game, and my purchased version worked fine until this point. I tried installing a couple of mods, (Haidi Gwai [thanks for revommending sombre] and some extra pretenders), that's when the mesage first appeared. I removed the mods, still happens. Now, I'll concede that I haven't done further troubleshooting or thread searching (which I'm really bad that), and reaching out to the community is my first recourse. Thanks for any help. |
Re: nagot gick fell?
Yeah that phrase basically is telling you "Ooops you broke something".
Technically it means "something went wrong" but its rare now that its a note to the programmer. What operating system are you playing on? Have you tried rebooting the machine and starting a new game? |
Re: nagot gick fell?
I'm playing with xp. I'm loathe to reboot because my computer has trouble detecting my slave drive, but I guess I'll try that now. Thank you.

Re: nagot gick fell?
Definitely try creating a new game without the mods if you haven't already. Turn them off in the interface and move/delete the mod files.
I suppose the other question is when does it crash? Starting up, when opening an existing game, creating a game, after playing for awhile? Removing Dominions and reinstalling it should put you back where you were before installing any mods. The actual error message "myfree: corrupted mem block (high)" could also mean a hardware (bad memory) problem. If the rest of your system runs fine this is unlikely, but there are memory checker programs that could confirm that. |
Re: nagot gick fell?
I think all of us have had that problem at one time or another. On my part, I think it usually happens when I've been messing around in the mod files and did something wrong.
I might double-check that you've actually disabled the mods; mods reactivate themselves automatically when you load a game that uses them. Normally that's nice but in this case it could be causing you trouble. -Max |
Re: nagot gick fell?
The prblem is resolved, I just had to reboot (which I should have tried without asking for help...).
Thank you very much everyone. |
Re: nagot gick fell?
No prob.
Actually if you talk to computer techs thats a funny subject. Many of them end up charging for 1-hour bench time for things that werent broke. People tend to leave their computers running. When something goes wrong they unplug it, clean off the embarrassing dust, and take it in to the shop. But just unplugging the machine, cleaning it, bouncing it around abit in the car, then pugging it back in is often all that is needed. |

Re: nagot gick fell?
I had a woman tell me once that she would have but the term scared her, and we always say it so roughly. That we should call it something like "have you asked the computer for a start-over yet?" instead of "did you reboot?"

I forget the name of the condition but there's a problem that babies sometimes develop that scares the parents badly and they rush the kid off to the ER--at which point he's fine. I forget the exact sequence of events but what's really going on it's caused by warm, dry air causing a reaction that gets out of control and the cool air outside fixes the problem. |
