Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
Germany has been a long time favorite, but I'm warming up to the kit of the US and USSR. Britain has always given me fits. I never know how to translate the gun sizes (2 pounder, 6 pounder, etc.) I wouldn't mind some tips when playing them though. I'm trying to branch out.

Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
Germany all the way.
I have a soft spot for German armor. Can’t help it :first: |
Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
I'll play around with all sorts of stuff, but Soviet, German, Brit, French and American are the faves.
For minor powers, Finland. If I had to pick one, I guess I'd go with soviets but it depends on mood |
Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
Despite my vote for Germany, It really sometimes boils down to my mood and or what I'm studing in more detail. I've been playing a lot of Russian of late and it makes for a challange, especially when you really have to get the German mindset out of your head to get them to perform on the battlefeild.
Bob out :D |
Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
Finland in early 40 would be good game play as they gave the Russian Bear some rough handling.:hurt:

Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
1. Germany
2. USSR 3. Great Britain 4. Italy 5. Japan Dead last. USA I have seen way too many documentaries and read far too much about US war involvement to have any interest in playing them. Their starting the war off so late too, doesn't help matters any. |
Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
I used to like playing early war Russia but after playing it too much I got burned out on them. Actually, I seem to have gotten burned out on East Front altogether.

Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
Panzer Bob as usual makes a good point I don't realy have a prefered side though I like the nice toys so more 43 on. Playing them all is fun because you have to adapt your tactics to the nation & timeframe. Do tend to do pacific less but thats more due to lack of toys & slow gowing due to terrain. Still if your a fan of chargrilling your enemy its the place to be. So I voted other but still tend to play major powers

Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
I voted Germany.
If I would make a preference list it would be 1. Germany 2. US 3. USSR - just to learny how to use their ways as well :) |
Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
Why aren't Italy and Japan listed? Those are my number one and two picks.

Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
1. UK,
2. US (drawback: too uniform kit), 3. USSR, if in masochistic mood, Finns (Lahti ATR vs. KV-1, yay!) :) |

Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
Hello All! Old long time Steel Panther player from Years back, just getting back into it. The new version is Worlds better than the original, so kudos to the guys responsible. To my mind the greatest WW2 game yet devised, but the original was limited in ways that were pretty frustrating, esp re Units limits. I love big battles with a strong Infantry bias, so the old version was very limiting.
My first love is the UK, 1940-42. I limit my use of Matildas and Valentines, as I think they provide too great an advantage most of the time, plus I have a huge soft spot for the A-13 Cruiser. Great tank? No. It just looks cool and its a challenge to keep them alive. I have started my first LC, using an MTOE British Infantry Battalion as my core, with a Squadron of Cruisers and two troops of Infantry tanks. So far, so good. I'm having more trouble with the Italians than the Germans 12 battles in, as the AI takes Hordes of Infantry with them. In Mid '41 the German tanks are pretty easy pickings, and the AI uses too many of them. I know it will get worse once I start seeing PZIII-J's and such, but for now its good hunting! |
Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
1) Germany (for the SP guns)
2) USSR (since I've studied the Red Army quite a bit over the decades) |
Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
Looks like Germany is still leading the pack here with the UK in a close second.

Re: What nation do you prefer to go in battle with?
Germany FTW.(I figured I would tell since the poll is closed)
Especially in 1939 germam/polish generated campaigns. Anything besides that, its UK all the way.I love the VC Fireflies and the 25 pdrs. |

The ‘pounder’ or Pdr was just a reference to the projectile weight. These are the main ones you should know: Anti-tank/tank guns 2 Pdr (40mm) Early war (as good as many 4.7cm guns) 6 Pdr (57mm) Mid war (better than many 75mm guns) 17 Pdr (76.2mm) Late war (as good as German 88mm) Light Artillery 25 Pdr (87.6mm) Throughout war (versatile field gun with HEAT AT ability) Tips The 2 Pdr and 6 Pdr don’t have very good HE capacity, but had good rates of fire, and excellent AP ability when they first come out. But towards the end of their ‘shelf life’ they have trouble with German armour. The usefulness of these guns can be extended by purchasing units with sabot rounds, or longer barrels, when they become available. The 25 Pdr is a decent piece of kit. Good for indirect or direct fire, and can be used in an AT role until the 6 Pdr becomes available. Then use it as field artillery with secondary AT role if needed. Hope this helps, Cross |
